-Hand grip is the best, riding 50km a day will not feel uncomfortable
-Abus lock with life time warranty; come with 2 keys one with light; if key lost abus will mail a new one using lock serial number
-A good quality U lock is about 0.3kg lighter, but that is a small one
    -I love the seat

Could the Trek FX serve as a touring bike if I were to pull a bike trailer to carry all of the gear? I would not be using panniers or any other on-bike accessories. The bike trailer connects to the seat post. All of the weight is behind the bike and off the FX frame, wheels, tires, etc. Thanks!

MrMCBvideo trek fx 3 and fx s4 come with carbon fork, fx 5 and 6 have carbon frame so may not suitable for heavy touring. I will recommend FX2 full aluminium. However 1) fx 123 and s4 do not have disc brake, u may want to have disc brake which are stronger for touring 2) the widest tyre of trek fx is fx 1&2 both 700*35c, touring bike usually come with wider tyres to handle rough roads.

Much appreciated! Thank you! I had ruled out the fx5 and fx6 because of the full carbon frame and the fx4 because of the carbon fork. I was actually leaning toward the fx2 to bypass the disc brakes. We have disc brakes on our Trek mountain bikes. They're terrific. However, I almost feel that the rubber grab brakes are easier to repair, and we could find more bike shops that would have the parts needed. I'll be pulling a bike trailer, and we won't be using panniers or carrying equipment and gear weight on the bike frame. It'll all be in the trailer. The torque from the bike trailer will be directly on the seat post (the attachment area of the bike trailer). Since that will certainly resonate into the bike frame, I do feel, as you do, that an aluminum frame would be the safer choice versus carbon.

We're looking to ride mostly on streets (Inn to Inn, B&B to B&B, etc.) though there are times that we expect to be on a rail trail and/or a dirt road and/or crossing a field. These varied surfaces seem better suited to the Trek FX hybrid versus a true road bike. The tire diameter is a bit wider which should equate to better traction, and the wide stance handle bars on the Trek FX offer better balance when riding on uneven ground. We have mountain bikes, but their wide tires are slower on pavement, and their suspension exceeds the demands of the terrain anticipated. I'm only concerned about the durability of the Trek FX when asked to pull a bike trailer. However, numerous Trek FX owners feel confident that this is well within the bike's capabilities. We're going to get them and trust the bike.

siemenssx1 front shock adds weight and not really being used very often if you cycle in the city. Trek FX S4 is actually a road bike spec bicycle with flat bar. I did not go for road bike because I prefer upright riding position.

OfftheClock after quite some research on Giant escape, specialised sirus and cannodale. I did find people riding very old hybrid bikes are mostly Trek. It seems the frame just more durable for trek fx. I just go to cross country with my fx s4 nothing went wrong so far. But i would still prefer go with wider tyre model such as fx 2. fx2 is trek aluminium sliver frame and fx3 onwards are all Aluminium gold frame which I do not think there is much difference
