    Thanks for the series Brad . Picked up a FX 2 and can’t wait to start building.

    This is a great video. I had the same rack on my truck 920. It carried over 200 pounds easily. Don't worry about what I was carrying. It's none of your business :-)

      Haha don’t ask don’t tell policy on the cargo

    • @clanky44
      @clanky44 6 лет назад

      TREK limits the 920 to 300lbs (rider, bike and gear combined). Your rack might be able to hold 200lbs, but the bike sure as hell can't. This was the main reason I stayed away from the TREK 920.

      They certainly have recommended riding weights, but my experience has been the wheels usually are the weak point. Sure, there can be frame failures, but generally speaking, the frames hold up pretty well overall.

      Sure it was, I'm trying to choose between trek fx and trek crossrip and my purpose would be the same as yours, commuting to work and some gravel tours at weekends,and I feel the crossrip would be better choice for that, what you think?

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  7 лет назад

      +Mohammed Zakaria ali I have never ridden a cross rip so hard to say. Personally I was not interested in drop bars but a lot of folks like them. Disc brakes are certainly nice. Best thing to do is go to your Local Bike Shop and ride them both and see which fits you better.

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  2 года назад

      You can just use a knife or straight screw driver to pry up under the edge and them pry them out.

    Thanks for the video, one question: How is fitting a reflector or light on the back rack go? I've got some nice blinky rear lights that keep me alive when I'm going from town to town using the tight shoulders and I'd be remiss if I lose em. I'm not against getting new ones, but if I can't fit any on it's going to be a problem 😬

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  Год назад +1

      There is a flat metal bracket on the back of the rack that can accommodate a variety of mounting options from screw/bolt on style to even the wrap around rubber strap style so should be plenty of options for mounting lights.

    Great video, thanks for that! Do you know which screws are going in which of the parts of the bike? I've bought a back rack disk bontranger but the screws are 4 in total and 2 larger than the other 2. Thanks for your video!

    U satisfied with trek fx? I just bought 2023 version few days ago and its awesome! I mean, not as good as trek domane, but its great for comuting

  • @eoinfeely2814
    @eoinfeely2814 3 года назад +2

    I think they may have discontinued this rack now and the new version looks far worse in comparison. Such a shame as the wide flat top, and length over the edge of the back wheel would have been the perfect contender to carry my bouldering pad on my fx3!

      @@BradBeaird yeah man that's the one, definitely doesn't look as versitle and as deluxe as the old model.
      I mean I can't really blame them, they aren't made for what I want to carry but they seemed to be onto such a winner with the one in your video!

      I’ve for the newer version on my Surly ECR and I can’t even hardly tell the difference. What’s your concern with the new one?

    • @eoinfeely2814
      @eoinfeely2814 3 года назад +1

      @@BradBeaird ooo interesting, from the photos I saw it appeared substantially smaller in length and width, but if it's the same in real life then that's dank and I can stop sulking that I missed the boat haha (also thanks for taking the time to reply)

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  3 года назад +1

      Yeah it’s pretty much exactly the same length and width as the old one. I load that thing up on my ECR haha.

  • @jeannehoran4196
    @jeannehoran4196 4 года назад +2

    I noticed Trek offers two sizes of this rack, but I’m not sure what they’re measuring. (13”-18”, and 18”-22”). Any advice? Thank you!

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  4 года назад +1

      Yep, it's frame size. So if you have a frame size 13-18" or Frame size 18-22"

    • @BradBeaird
      @BradBeaird  4 года назад +1

      About as many as you like. You can stand on the rack, so really it’s about what the bike will carry for you.

    • @gabrielcarvajal66
      @gabrielcarvajal66 4 года назад +1

      @@BradBeaird for example like 30 pounds it's not too much or depends on you tire

    • @BradBeaird

      30 lbs is no problem for the rack. Would be more dependent on wheels & tires.
