It's not pornography by definition. Graphic imagery and text by themselves aren't pornographic, and the context of the book is crucial. You don't get to unilaterally decide that something is pornography just because you personally find it offensive in your bizarre, puritanical little bubble.
@Justin-op8us Its directly addressing sexual activity involving minors. Sorry, but that's pornography, and an extremely perverse version of it at that. There is no way to justify this kind of material being allowed in schools. End of discussion. Whatever happened to protecting the innocence of children? It's not puritanical to want to keep children from looking at explicit sexual material. That's basic decency.
Used to be that school boards just did their job and made sure inappropriate material was not accessible to young children. Why is any parent sending their kid to public school at this point?

The teacher who defended the books thinks it will save lives to have that material available. But all the stats say otherwise, given the high suicide rates, drug addiction and depression.
I live in Norway wich is very open to most things. But even here with a book like that it would never enter the school. Sounds very pedo themed if you ask me.
Let kids be kids. As they get older, they will figure this stuff out - no need to shove all of this LGBT stuff down their throats, it's already bombarding them in movies and TV, not to mention social media.

I have nothing aginst the LGBTQ community but do have a problem of forcing g these books on children. These book or have explicit content that shouldn't be in these schools in the first place. You can talk about inclusiveness of the LGBTQ community but not in this way. I'm not stupid for standing up for my opinions and beliefs.

The fact that the picture had to be blurred tells me this book shouldn’t be anywhere near minors.
We should unite as parents against these ridiculous books. Teachers should focus on what they are supposed to do, that is teaching math and science. Teaching about sexuality and morals is the responsibility of the parents.

It is always so important to see things the way the minority of humankind act is what they say - be it deviant, pornographic, sexist, racist (against white males for instance), and so on. Simply disheartening how the person speaking on behalf of keeping the books turned a matter that was concerning the pronographic nature and simply graphically explicit nature of these books, into a matter about gender and identity; putting two and two together, if this is what these agendas are about, why would we want any part in them?

These books are being pushed on RUclips kids and on Story time channels geared towards kids. I had no idea this was a thing. I created a kids book channel for parents that has age appropriate kids books that are social and political agenda free.
So, this video was posted 11/1/21. What did the esteemed school board decide? I can imagine.

10 year old? It was stated that these were in the high school. (14-18 years of age) Now, I wouldn't say that a ten year old high school student being soo smart would necessarily be mature enough. Afterall many posting comments here aren't mature enough.

It's disgusting that public school libraries are allowing books like this to be available for students. Even private schools and some home school programs have this, so no child is immune to this. How is that inclusivity?

I think they re going after the wrong people! Who sold these books to the district? They probbly came through a procurement process where book sales companies send an allotment to schools, sight unseen. Perhaps to get rid of unprofitable books. No one reviewed the books coming in as the procurement contracts just continue from year to year. In a regular public library the librarian may oder books according to popularity, necessity of content, and they can avoid unneccesary books.
