Yeah papier maché takes ages to dry. A possibly safer option than using the oven would be to make a mini drying box. Take a cardboard box, cut 2 holes one just large enough to stick the nozzle of a hair dryer through and one to let air escape (keep a flap so you can open and close it and regulate the airflow) close it up with whatever you need to dry inside and let it run for a few mins. Creates a very hot and dry environment on the cheap, just don’t leave it too long, and don’t leave it unattended, also works to help stubborn paint finishes to dry faster. Could also stick it near a space heater/ fan combo if you have one of those, dehydrates things better than a fan alone.
I loved this video! It totally took me back to my childhood...but our papier mache was never that fancy. We basically dipped strips of newspaper in a slimy glue/water mixture, wiped it off, and slapped it on whatever we were mache-ing 🤷♀️ Love you Sarah! And your editing is fantastic. Your pail turned out amazing!! Great job!!
I am a paper mache artist. Paper clay can take upto two weeks to dry. If you rush it and the outside may dry but the inside will not. If the inside does not dry fully it will mold and or crumble. Some of my projects take a month for the layers to dry.
You did so great. I would probably try to keep atleast a bit of the pumpkin ridges and instead of that flimsy handled, I'd use a rope. But its adorable.
I'm thankful this lil guy brought me to your channel :) I appreciate how positive you were towards your pumpkin while making him too, a lot of people online are pretty harsh towards their creations during the process of making them so this felt like a nice change!
Love him! I always place my paper mache projects in front of a fan and leave it for however long it takes. Moving air will dry faster than just about anything. I want to do this project next year, thanks for the video!
He’s amazing! I’ve never seen the show, but I’ve been wanting to. I don’t think I have the service it streams on. Anyway, great job!! You crack me up! 🎃🎃🎃
SOOOOOOO CUTE! I'm sure you could easily sell these online. In terms of adhesives, I'm a Glue Dots girl. I love 'em, use 'em all the time. Now I have to watch the beginning of the video again so I can try to find the source of your inspiration and watch that too.
I forget what vlog you said you got your ghost blanket with the tassels but I was able to order one today. They almost sold out so I'm so happy I finally got one. Love your videos and everything Halloween..
I'd say it would be worth it to do a base layer of "mache" on the pumpkin with just strips of papertowel and glue to give the "crumbly" mache something more to hold to than just the glue on plastic. As well, squeezing out some of the water from your final "mash" before adding glue would help with drying since it wouldn't be as soggy. I think that having that initial paper towel/glue layer would also allow you to use less of the mash (not as thick a layer), making for even quicker drying time!
The drying part is the worst! I've been working on mini vintage inspired cat lanterns since I first found out about paper clay about two weeks ago. At the beginning I was like "Oh, yeah! I'll probably have a few of these done by the end of the week." Like I said, two weeks, and I haven't even started painting. 😭I just get caught up in all the little details, but It's so much fun though, especially when you think about how it started off as just a bunch of paper and glue.
What timing-my kitchen table is covered in Walmart pumpkin pails atm. I have some for making vintage paper mache buckets, the rest for a front door display I am making. They have mini pails too, in case you wanna make some mini friends. Oh, and ASMR is my version of hell, I was unprepared for that and had the volume on high. It's okay...it's funny...now. ;)
If anyone wants to see this guy super lit up, go check out my recent short! 🕯🎃
😮
“You can literally use anything paper based….. We’re going to be using my trash” 😂 💀
I CACKLED when she said that!!!!!!! 😂😭🤣
😆😆😆

I KNOW you literally did NOT forget to show us how he looks lit up!!! I cannot do another thing until this is rectified 😌
I thought it showed that at 25:18 !! But I'll make a short where I put an actual candle in him just for you! 😉
@@sarahtuhro lol I thought he just hit golden hour lol my apologies 😂 but thanks for the short, it was truly satisfying 🎃

I freaking love it. You just inspired me even more to make one. The paper clay you used for the lips is it the same thing you used for the head
It is! But way more smooth and claylike. Mine was more chunky and harder to blend and smooth out 😬😆
Very cute. I would not have the patience, nor the talent, so I will just keep watching you! 😊
That's what I'm here for 😉
He looks INCREDIBLE OMG 🥰🥰
I guess I’m going to Walmart now. Gonna get a few pumpkin buckets.
So cool.
In the future if you make tiny pinholes all throughout the plastic before you paper mache it, it helps it dry faster.
thank YOU
So amazing!!! You did a great job, love it!
Thank you so much! I love your videos!! 🥺
Your lil pumpkin guy is adorbs!!!!! Love it and how talented you are Sarah! Keep these great videos coming!

my deepest SINCEREST apologies 😭😆
Dollar tree is cheaper on the pales, right?
Yes! But my dollar tree is always lacking 😢
How did you make the ruffle part?
May I ask where I can acquire that cat tree 😭
Why no vertical pumpkin lines? It looks like an orange coconut.
I wanted to pay homage to the vintage paper pumpkin style! If you look them up a lot of them were perfectly smooth with no lines 🙂
@@sarahtuhrook but hear me out: painted vertical pumpkin lines like in the show
I think next time, sticking him in front of an air conditioning unit would help it dry faster
We came to burgle your turts ! 🐢
You need to seal it with clear sprayppaint
Where do you find music like this?
*across doesn't have at T at the end lmfao
