    I really like the aluminum plate idea. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see part 3.

    This is the byproduct of understanding torsional forces and how they can affect metal. Especially softer metal which can bend easily like aluminum. For the guys running the Terrova, this mod is a MUST. Seriously. Anyone reading this cannot and should not skimp out on this part because if you do, I know from experience that you'll suffer cracked bow plate welds and then you'll wish you would had taken the ounce of prevention.
    Great video Matt, and thank you on the Bass Tracker communities behalf for putting this out there for everyone. I took a different but similar approach on the idea, but at this point for my own, it's more about damage control rather than prevention.

      @extremeboating7347 What approach did you take? I’m about ready to install a Terrova on my Pro 170, but I am looking at all install options.

      @@bwarholak I created a full top plate that confirmed to the majority of the bow on the troller motor side out of 1/2" King Starboard. I would have used 1/4" aluminum, but at the time prices were out of control to get something custom made for me by local shops. It fared out well and up to the point where I sold it.
      It worked fantastic for its function considering that I was using it as a top plate to sandwich the aluminum under it, but I also switched out to a standard scissor style Garmin Force. The only trollers I recommend at this point for those boats are the Ultrex, Lowrance Ghost, or Garmin Force given that they use scissor style designs just like the stock Minn Kota Edge.

    I like the whole plate idea. I would have made some extra modes to it, but thats just me. Hey when you install the head sensor you "DONT" need to calibrate it on the water, you can do it in a large parking lot. Did mine that way and it works perfect....just go slow you will need to deploy it. Your remote will tell you when its successful

    Same reason I didn't get that model quick release I got the "Minn Kota Trolling Motor Quick-Release Bracket MKA-16-03" it doesn't use the puck. check it out.

    • @BredForBass
      @BredForBass  2 года назад

      Yea i seen it almost bought that one instead but I’ve seen photos with welds broke using that as well so i ended up going with the puck since a lot of more people have that one and I thought I could help figure out a solution for it.

    • @bwarholak
      @bwarholak 5 месяцев назад

      Did you use a similar solution with the 16-03? I want to go that route, but the 1/2in aluminum plate won't allow for long screws since the 16-03 isn't as thick as the MKA-21.

      Sorry for the late response I got the plate off Amazon the link I used no longer works but I believe it was 8x24 I think 1/2” thick.

  • @brandocommando1243
    @brandocommando1243 2 года назад

    I really like this idea and I’m in the works of doing something similar with my own twist. How much space do you have between the boat and the plate? I might try and mount my motor straight to the plate without any quick release and would need to get a wrench under the plate to bolt the motor on. Or I could use your method

    • @BredForBass
      @BredForBass  2 года назад

      I put the rubber washers between the plate and the boat it gives you a 1/2” at most would be difficult to get a wrench in there.

    • @BredForBass
      @BredForBass  2 года назад

      Unless you wanted to buy a thicker spacer they definitely make them that would give you some more room to put a wrench in there

    I'm thinking I want to do something similar, but use the MKA-16-03. Since the 16-03 is thinner than the puck you used, do you have any suggestions on what I could try? The only thing that comes to mind is maybe using 3/4in aluminum so I have a little bit more for the screws to grab onto.

    • @BredForBass
      @BredForBass  5 месяцев назад

      I think you will be fine still with the 1/2” even though the puck is thicker it the screws sinks into the puck a good amount.You could go 3/4” aluminum if you wanted just gonna be a little heavier.Also you could consider just getting longer screws and going all the way through the aluminum plate into the hull of the boat and doing drill and tap I think the extra thickness of the plate will ultimately help keep that weld from cracking.

    So this could be a dumb question but I'm gonna ask anyway. If I'm not worried about the cover, do I need to worry about any quick release brackets? Also I bought the 24v terrova not the 12v. Is there anyway you can walk me through what I need to do? This looks extremely complicated to do. Want to attempt it myself but don't want to mess up big investment. Thank you in advance.

    • @BredForBass
      @BredForBass  Год назад

      No if your not worried about cover then you don’t need quick release I would still put the aluminum plate though another guy I know just broke his weld and he mounted it without the quick release.I thought I covered how to do everything in the video but if you have more questions feel free to email me and I can help the best I can.Thanks

      I actually used a furniture edge guard got it off Amazon for $20 (2) rolls will go all the way around the boat so $40 total.It’s same thing you put on tables and edges to protect children when hitting there head.It comes with a 3m adhesive and you just stick it on it holds really strong I’ve had it on for about a year and it’s held up good no issues.Its done what it was supposed to do I’ve taken some chunks out of it at the dock but better that then the boat paint.Once it where’s out I’ll buy more and just redo it since it’s so cheap.
