Hi... Usually Boil our Potatoes for 10 mins... Drain off and let sit for a short while (evaporate remaining water)... then mix coarse sea salt in with some warmed duck fat (couple of table spoons), drizzle this mix over the potatoes then put pan lid back on.... then give them a good shake-up to cover potatoes with the duck fat and salt, also by doing this it breaks up the surface a little to add more crunch. then put in Ninja on Air Fry at 200 to 210 Deg for 20 mins.... shake half way through frying. Always come out spot on 👍
I saw a video where someone did roast potatoes in the bottom of the drawer with oil like you’d do in an oven dish which I preferred as they are more like oven cooked (I’ve always par boiled). I have also attached some plain paper to the back of my ninja recipe books so that when I perfect cooking meats or other unknowns I write down weights, settings, timings etc (I have the same air fryer as yours and the ninja foodi pressure/slow cooker/air fryer) foods like sausages, fish fingers, chips etc are easy so I just go with the flow for that sort of thing, I even did frozen cocktail sausage rolls on bake really quick with no preheating. ❤❤❤
Why not indeed, nothing better than a mid-week roast I say...!!!! You are so easy and enjoyable to follow Kerry, so warmest thank you again. I only wish we could buy gammon here in Australia. It's just not a thing here down under I'm afraid.
@@budgetcookinguk I know its criminal. We do have ham which is the same I guess but it always cooked, you can't get joints of ham to cook from raw. Well, none that I've seen, then maybe I don't get out enough LOL 🤣🤣 but truly we just don't have it, and I've been around long enough to know hehehe. I hope you are having a lovely week!

You asked in another recipe, how to get the marks off the inside of thr drawers, It is the spray that is causig those marks, You would be better using a borrle spray with oil in, then you won't get the stains. I learnt the hard way!! Love your program but I'm not getting very much housework done!😂
That looks lovely Kerry. The last time I did gammon I did it in the slow cooker then sliced the skin off and put it in the air fryer, it was lovely, I'd never had crackling from gammon before. I been doing my roast potatoes by sticking them straight in the air fryer instead of par boiling them, it does make a difference, I'm going to start doing that again. Another good quick and filling meal
We did our first roast gammon joint a few days ago in our air fryer. This was before seeing your blog so we didn’t soak it first. I will soak it in future for 1 1/2 hours as it was a bit salty, not over salty but too much for me. Always boiled our gammon in the past but never again. The crackling was to die for too! We don’t have a Ninja with the probe so it was a bit of hit and miss getting it to 75° with the timing right to cook the veggies but it all came together with a bit of common sense. We have bought a meat thermometer which we always use now. Never did before, just cooked meat for the recommended time by weight in our electric fan oven. In our air fryer we roast chickens, lamb, beef (only occasionally due to cost), and pork all to the temperature recommended and will only ever use our large oven if we have a turkey! The meat is so moist, didn’t realise before that cooking the way mothers and grandmothers always did could be improved upon! Well done for all your ideas. I bake pies, have made bread, bread and butter pudding, cakes, biscuits and so much in the air fryer. It’s really just a smaller, quicker, oven!
Brenda you are on fire! I agree re gammon, it's got to be soaked otherwise too salty, airfryer cooking is amazing, I do a full Sunday roast for 5 using the ninja and if energy costs returned to normal I think I would keep my oven as a storage facility for the pots n pans and carry on using AFs. I haven't bought beef or lamb yet as they're sooooo expensive, it doesn't feel right given it's a budget channel but if they ever become reasonably priced🤞🤞🤞or I manage to get hold of a joint in the reduced aisle, I will cook one for the channel. Oven is just for xmas definitely!😀👍💕💕
Oh yum. Thanks for showing us it can be done, Kerry. I’ve resisted making roast potatoes as the demo’s I’ve seen online they don’t come close to oven-roasted. Yours looked crisp and we could hear the crunch! Going to try this. And the gammon, of course! You’re doing a great job.
I've heard this too Christine but it relates specifically to frylight I think, olive oil spray doesn't have lecithin (I double checked the label after reading your comment) thank you thou😃👍💕
Ooh those potatoes looked amazing ! I’ve only had my ninja a fortnight and I’m learning too - the probe is so handy for meat - my mouth was watering looking at your dinner - oh and I’ve made 3 of the apple cakes so far and they are soooo yummy x
Thank you Catherine!💕 ooo wow xmas came early - 2 weeks! I do like the probe, its handy to watch the internal temperature go up, which theoretically should help decide when other stuff needs to start cooking, althou I still managed to put the potatoes in too early (I'm so impatient!) 3 apple cakes so far wow! Hmmmm I need to make some more as well, the apple is lovely inside the cake 🤤
Hi Carol, awww thank you💕 they're really hard to get hold of at the mo. Insold lots of unwanted stuff to justify the cost and had to wait weeks (that was pretty good) b4 I managed to buy one. Had email alerts everywhere😅 when I registered it with ninjakitchen, they confirmed a warranty of 10 years!!!
@@budgetcookinguk I'm definitely going to get one as soon as they become available again, thank you so much, I look forward to seeing your next yummy creation 😋
I have the dual ninja with out the prob but use a manual one…not as convenient but is ok. I also have the larger ninja air fry oven. Use the dual air fryer most but the oven is great for larger roasts…tray bakes…toast…pizza etc so the best of both worlds I’d say. My old oven like yours is a storage for my pans etc. I’ve also recently bought a double induction hob for the top. Fantastic!!!
Kerry try taking the fat off the joint and. Put back in the ninja @ Cook on the crisper for about. Ten mins I do admire you for your determination. Lov e dianjust a suggestion I save the jelly when I cook my chicken and put over my potatoes makes wonderful roasties
As a Canadian I didn't know what gammon was. I searched and it's pork, which is what it looks like, but my search says it's smoked or brined or cured, which it doesn't look like. I bought a full pork loin awhile ago and cut it into 3 roasts, so I'll pull one out of the freezer and try your recipe tomorrow. Thanks. edit to add... after cooking it looks cured, so, I guess what we call ham.
I do not have the ninja mine is the vortex, however if you put on reheat, you can adjust the temp and heat from the setting it gives you. Your roast looks very nice. Crackling on gammon is a first for me. Xx
Looked great but I'm jealous of your ninja! I'm guessing it's fairly new? Mines over year old now and it still gets used most days, fantastic bit of kit.
Thanks Jay👍 got it early october used almost daily, slow cooker on other days. Absolutely love it, not used the oven since it arrived. Wish I had the sense to buy an airfryer a year ago like you🥴😄👍
When I roast a chicken or beef in my air fryer, once they're cooked, I toss the par boiled potatoes in the cooking juices from the meat. I then put them in the pre heated basket, season and set them away. Lush things they are.
I did that today (after reading your comment) absolutely fab, they were always lovely roasted in Drawer 2 (have been par boiling for ages now) chicken in drawer 1 but this time, did your suggestion and bunged in Drawer 1 (nearly to the top, as feeding 5) and they were ace, better than usual which is saying something ☺️😋💕💕thank you👍👍
Thank you Mark👍 it took approx 30 mins to cook with 10 mins resting but your great question has made me realise I need to make a more accurate note of timings! Highly recommend any airfryer with 2 drawers for its versatility, so handy to be able to cook 2 different foods, plus a 3rd on the hob and/or microwave voila a full meal! 👍👍
@@budgetcookinguk it’s not only me who is filling their kitchen with air fryers, then! Got the Ninja multicooker and a cosori. Really want the ninja mini oven and the ninja dual. Good job they’re hard to get hold of as I think I’d have to get rid of the cooker to accommodate them all 😂
@@julesmisjulesmis3568 my oven is almost obsolete! I think it will be utilised on xmas day realistically but I've probably used it just a handful of times since early October, it stores my pots and pans now😄

I got this model af300 but no probe socket in mine not seen that till this video.....anyway it's perfect for me as I'm one person but its still v roomy....its great quality well made and I'm flying solo later on a jacket spud to get my bearings ! It's a quality item and looks swish. AF300uk...whats not to like !
