As much as I hate to say it, if Lucas did do the 3 sequels, it would have gotten more heat and hatred the Disney films. It just feels like that's the culture now. Crap on it now, then claim how great it was 20 yrs later. Happened with Empire, happened with the prequels. It will happen again.

As a Gen X who saw Star Wars in the theater, I remember reading about Lucas having total of 9 outlines for movies. I think I even read this magazine, as it was in our school and I read that mag every time new issue arrived. I was also Star Wars crazy.
Whether you love or hate the sequels, Carrie Fisher's role in those films as Princess Leia, would always be canon and important , and I would honor her role as our beloved Princess Leia.
Jacob Komnath They literally used his ideas for the movies, hell, they kept in ideas of making Luke a hermit as well as a female student seeking him for guidance and helps him overcome his depression.
I love these kinds of videos that we get to learn more about the world that surrounded these actor and just being able to learn about them a little bit more even to this day.
I think it's inspiring how much she wanted to learn. That energy for life and overall exciting this to learn is so rare in an adult. I hope she rests well. It's clear the despite her issues she was a very Lively person, and very much so wore her heart on her sleeve
From what I read and it has never been confirmed, Lucas does not get residuals for new characters. That is the conspiracy theory why Kathleen Kennedy and Disney slowly fazed out there Big 3.
I really miss Carrie. The screenplay Post Cards From The Edge is supposed be based on her life if I remember? I really need to re-watch it. She also did a comedy show called Wishful Drinking that documents her life, family-marriage struggles, and failing into dependency on drugs. I thought it was hysterical and made me feel a lot empathy for her. Anyways, thank you for posting, Star Wars Theory! I have some programs of her I now need to re-watch. Have a great night. 😊
I believe that is why Goerge Lucas passed on the Expanded Universe to writers, artists, video game designers, and other creators. And it was the Expanded Universe that saved Star Wars and made it what it is. Disney really ruined it. I wrote a blog about the whole Bob Iger controversy and how George was given the swerve from Disney. I felt bad for George but a part of me wonders if he would have saw the swerve coming when he decided to sell Star Wars to Disney. He always wanted Star Wars to be his and his only.
If you’re genuinely interested in knowing the rest of the story, legends books, go to Wookipeda, type in Legends books timeline, scroll down until you find Return of the Jedi. Start reading there, from that point forward there is about 70 more years of Star Wars universe documented. The story only gets better after Jedi, lots better, thanks to Lucas. That’s why life long Star Wars fans are so unhappy with what Disney has done to this story. I was 9 when I saw A New Hope in the theater, if you read the books you will know what the story should have been. Best of Luck.
This Is Outrageous!!! It's Unfair!!! I Wish George Lucas Still Owned Starwars.. I Cannot Be The Only One Who Wishes This. #RIPCarrieFisher She Will Always Be Princess Leia To Me
In the 80's I was a teenager working in a pizza kitchen. One of the girls at work brought a copy of Seventeen Magazine. They had a little sidebar where they would ask 3 celebrities a question. Question this issue was "What was the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?" Carrie said it was one time her and Paul Simon were in Hawaii and they dropped acid and watched the sun rise and that was the most beautiful thing she ever saw. I've loved her from then on!
At my elementary school we had a mail order book club, and this exact magazine was one of the things I ordered. It was probably the very first Star Wars article that I read. It really gave me the impression that Episodes 1, 2 and 3 would be coming out a lot sooner than they eventually did.
I would kill for that World Between World's thing to happen and give it back to George to fix. Let him have full control over redeeming the sequels and have Dave Filoni work alongside him to actually take over on bigger things eventually. Right now, I think we need George before it's too late.
If you can go back in time to tell the so called fans during the prequel era to zip there lip maybe Lucas wouldn't have sold it in the first place. That's one of the reasons why he gave it up.
@@lakernation26 Yes, like the Luke and Leia kiss scene. Yes it's seen as incestuous in the post-original trilogy era but even before they were written as siblings, I would've still said that scene was cringeworthy.

I remember when the original soundtrack for Star Wars came out in the 70’s. My friend had the album set and I remember the info in the record mentioned there were going to be nine movies.
Carrie really was a class act. This is why Disney better not remake or flat out cancel the latest trilogy, major insult to her memory. I grew up in the era of the re-release of the original trilogy in the late 90's and I've always loved all of Carrie's work.
Anytime I see footage of Mark, Carrie, or Harrison in the late 90s I really wish I could have seen them in a sequel trilogy then, but of course that means we wouldn't have the prequels. Maybe in an alternate universe George Lucas already made his Episodes 7, 8, and 9.
I find old interviews interesting. Like with that interview we have the benefit of future knowledge. Hearing what she thought at the time is really cool. They had a whole life to live ahead of them.
I think seeing this, and then seeing things like some of Filloni's interviews and him talking on 'The Gallery: The Mandalorian' and seeing George Lucas on set for Mando, that back then - yeah, he was never going to give up Star Wars, but later on wasn't so much looking to give it up, as much as have a plan or what would come after he was gone. When he picked Filloni to do Clone Wars, I don't think he was just hiring someone to make a show for him, one of a number of underlings doing what he asks - I think he was looking for a successor. Someone that he could teach about the story, and care about it the same way he does, that gets it. I mean - passing on the fact the song is titled 'Duel of the Fates' because Qui-gon is the father figure he needs and all - that's some serious detail stuff most would over look and go 'that's nice'. I feel like Filloni is George's endgame - not necessarily to be the head of Lucasfilm, someone else can handle money and day to day trivialities, but to be the story and lore guy. The one who understands the universe, how stories would fit in it, give pointers on how to do something or a character that exists would act. The way Filloni talks about Star Wars reminds me of watching those BTS on DVD and George talking about it. And for that reason - I wouldn't fully rule out George's sequel's just yet. It's true, we'll never have the full original cast together again but if the basics of what George wanted to do can fit between 6 and 7, or 7 and on is in fact erased (really only 8-9 need to be in my opinion) - I think Filloni would cover it. It'd be animated most likely, there's only maybe two people who'd come back for voices (Hamill and maybe Billy Dee Williams), but the story would be there, and he may be the only one that might pull it off.
I remember before Empire came out, watching an interview with George and he said that 4, 5, and 6 were part of a bigger story. He said then that the only characters that were in all 9 stories were the droids. It would have been really neat to see that.
It is important to keep in mind that when George made his "trilogy of trilogies" comment in the intro to Splinter of the Minds Eye is that at that point the plan was for Vader to die and in Ep. 6, and that 7, 8, and 9 would deal with the Emperor, finding the "other Skywalker" and Luke passing the torch to a new generation. Most of this was rolled into RotJ instead. It's the interview bring the possible sequels up, not Carrie.
O' WoW, I remember collecting those sticker cards on the cover of Dynamite. The back of the stickers made a puzzle of an Ewok. Pretty shure I still have Luke around here somewhere.
Such a damn shame the sequels veered away from the original cast being together and this confirms once again that it would of been magic, unforgivable!
Imagine if after Jedi Lucas took his break from Star Wars and then in like 1990/91 he started working on Ep 7; it would've been like The TOS Star Trek films picking up some years later and that trilogy would've been fantastic. Hearing interviews like this make me sad as well because of what could've been. I totally get why Lucas walked away for a bit and that when he did come back to Star Wars he want to tell the backstory of Anakin and as a kid who grew up with the prequels I love that he did that because those films introduced me to Star Wars
For some reason the person who was doing the interview had a good idea what was gonna happen in the distant future with Star Wars! And by Fisher saying she would refuse to play a older version of her character along with the original crew and different directors.... What a hell of a prediction! I'm shocked that she said no during this interview but glad she made a final return along with original members, RIP Carrie Fisher 😔☝️
😭😭 miss her so much... This just emphasizes all the missed opportunities of the Sequel Trilogy... Sadly we'll never get to see what George, Carrie and Mark imagined the future of Star Wars would be... Disney needs to hire George back as a loremaster, along with a team of 10 of the biggest Star Wars nerds on the planet (one of them being you) and get things back to where they should be. Tell a new and interesting story about someone not connected to the Skywalkers. There are miles and miles of EU material to be explored and hopefully Disney will finally see the value in a good story that honors the Star Wars Legacy.

George sadly never intended to finish his vision for star wars after all the hate he got for the prequels. Disney star wars projects arnt perfect but at least we get new SW content
As long as he left the dialogue writing to someone else, yes, they would’ve been awesome
People still bitching today about the Precuels...
The prequels were poop on cause. George Lucas was a bad director. He had great imagination and dreams for Star Wars. But he was not a good director
Great to see this old article. I know I probably read it and many others like it back in the day. I'll have to dig and see if I have anything like this still hanging around.
Thanks!
Oof oh dear carrie if only you knew how we fans would miss our brave princess from a galaxy farfar away
Great video, it's really amazing to see that even his own actors and actresses new how much he loved Star Wars. It's sad to see Disney not honor his request.
As a little girl Leia was my favourite princes, she was a rebel, a leader, everything I wanted to be. She forged who I am today. I am so grateful to Carrie for portraying what very few women were doing at that time. Something that Padme followed. Thanks for this video. Love your passion! Best from Colombia
I want to see George's sequels! Ideal situation would have been something like this, what do you reckon:
1. Make George Lucas' sequel trilogy. Christopher Nolan directs with Jonathan Nolan, James Luceno and Timothy Zahn as screenwriters to tweak/adapt George's scripts for the big screen.
2. Film said Lucas sequels in one go and release them in 1 year bursts after they are all made with George Lucas as the final arbiter/consultant for the story and any lore:
Episode VI - SHADOW OF THE FORCE
Episode VII - KNIGHTS OF THE WHILLS
Episode IX - RISE OF THE NEW ORDER
3. In the interim, make and release "Labyrinth of Deception" - based on the Luceno novel "Labyrinth of Evil". Suggested director - Deborah Chow. (Morrison and rest of prequel cast to reprise their roles).
4. Make the movie "Knightfall" - based on a blend of the Luceno novel "Labyrinth of Evil" and the comic "Conclave at Kessel". Cast to include Jim Caviezel as Master Shyrne and Anna Akana as Padawan Olee Starstone. Hayden to reprise role as Vader. Suggested director - Patty Jenkins
5. Make "Rogue One" just as it was directed by Gareth Edwards.
6. After all of that, make 3, or 6 movies based on the Old Republic video games.
Suggested cast for George's sequels (I would not use the crap Disney cast):
Original heroes (Leia, Luke, Han, Lando, R2, C3PO, Yoda)
Obi Wan - CGI ghost of Alec Guiness with voice of Ewan McGregor
Anakin - CGI ghost of Hayden
Plageuis/primary villain - Anthony Hopkins
The Whills - Judi Dench, Diane Lane, Denzel Washington, Kevin Costner, Jackie Chan
Mara Jade Skywalker - Gal Gadot
Kira Skywalker - Naomi Scott
Sam Solo - William Mosley
Solo child who turns dark - Ben Barnes
Jaina Solo - Olympia Valance
Red Twilek Jedi Hunter seductress - Chloe Bennet
Other Jedi students - Kristen Kreuk, Veronica Ngo, Ki Hong Lee, Dylan O'Brien, Thomas Brodie
Dark Jedi students/Jedi Hunters - Cameron Cuffe, Georgina Campbell, Colin Salmon, Emma Watson
Mace Windu/Jedi vigilante - Samuel L. Jackson
Imperium Vizier - Jeff Goldblum
Imperial Empress Marisiah Fel - Jessica Alba
Leia's cousin, Queen of Naboo - Catherine Zeta Jones
Pandoran King - Antonio Banderas
Galactic warlords - The Rock, Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Clint Eastwood, Zac Efron
Jan Ors - Kelly Hu
Kyle Katarn - Robert Downey Junior
Layla Katarn (daughter) - Sybilla Deen
Aayla Secura Force ghost - original actress
Just a suggestion. But I reckon infinitely better than what we got.
This brings me back to the good old days when Disney didn’t have a carbon copy of all of those actors
As a Gen X who saw Star Wars in the theater, I remember reading about Lucas having total of 9 outlines for movies. I think I even read this magazine, as it was in our school and I read that mag every time new issue arrived. I was also Star Wars crazy.
Nostalgic and sad. Thanks for sharing! RIP Carrie Fisher!
Whether you love or hate the sequels, Carrie Fisher's role in those films as Princess Leia, would always be canon and important , and I would honor her role as our beloved Princess Leia.
@@0kk812 She loved her role in Episode 8, it's exactly what Carrie wanted. She worked with Rian on the script lmao
As someone born 2 years before A New Hope, and empire being the first I remember. Hearing this, and seeing 7,8,9, is real kick in the nuts!
Old interviews are always fascinating, thanks for covering!
“George is very close to it”.
Disney: so let’s ignore him and his ideas and just desecrate his creation
Jacob Komnath They literally used his ideas for the movies, hell, they kept in ideas of making Luke a hermit as well as a female student seeking him for guidance and helps him overcome his depression.
Thank you for this video. I'm sorry to say made me more sad than happy. Deep in side many of us miss Leia and George's start wars
I love these kinds of videos that we get to learn more about the world that surrounded these actor and just being able to learn about them a little bit more even to this day.
I remember reading this back in 1983. Got this magazine from time to time.
Ah man the end of that interview hit me hard, Rest In Peace Carrie we’ll love you always
RIP Carrie Fisher. one of the best star wars actresses
I loved this video. Very rare material. I'm so sorry this SW spirit didn't live longer but the force is always with us no matter what.
I think it's inspiring how much she wanted to learn. That energy for life and overall exciting this to learn is so rare in an adult. I hope she rests well. It's clear the despite her issues she was a very Lively person, and very much so wore her heart on her sleeve
That was a really good magazine back in the 1980s. They always had good interviews and great covers. Wish I would have kept mine.
On the bright side, George Lucas is still getting merchandise money.
From what I read and it has never been confirmed, Lucas does not get residuals for new characters. That is the conspiracy theory why Kathleen Kennedy and Disney slowly fazed out there Big 3.
Chris Olivo sounds plausible
What a great interview.
Thank you for sharing.
I really would of loved to of found out where George would of taken Luke, Leia and Han after Episode 6. His vision had to of been extraordinary.
What have you got against the word "have"
@@ManBearPig1968 never knew where to start with the eu so thanks for that
It was, I've seen it!
OMG!! Thanks so much for making this video man !!!!!!
thank you for sending this in duzi. very cool!
You weren’t kidding when you said it would be sad :(
R.i.p Carrie Fisher 💔😢
Your videos are what get me through when I don't have any new Star Wars stuff to watch. Keep up the good work!
This Is Outrageous!!!
It's Unfair!!!
I Wish George Lucas Still Owned Starwars..

You can tell that to the so called fans for allowing this to happen in the first place. It wouldn't of happen if it wasnt for the so called fans.

Unfortunately
I totally got this magazine in a book order in elementary school. I remember that cover and everything.
In the 80's I was a teenager working in a pizza kitchen. One of the girls at work brought a copy of Seventeen Magazine. They had a little sidebar where they would ask 3 celebrities a question. Question this issue was "What was the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?"
Carrie said it was one time her and Paul Simon were in Hawaii and they dropped acid and watched the sun rise and that was the most beautiful thing she ever saw.
Roger's Place those were the OT fanboys who swear that trilogy is godly. It’s great don’t get it twisted but also had cringe moments

I miss Carrie Fisher so much 💗
That interview was very interesting, thanks so much for reading to us! ❤
Carrie really was a class act. This is why Disney better not remake or flat out cancel the latest trilogy, major insult to her memory. I grew up in the era of the re-release of the original trilogy in the late 90's and I've always loved all of Carrie's work.
Much Love for our Lost Princess
Her opinions and emotions on this are amazing they show there true colors of it in the interview R.I.P George
george is still alive...
Still one of the best SW RUclipsrs cause you’re not filled with negativity 100% of the time. Kudos!
I miss her so much :( but she is always with us. Love you space mom ❤️
More sadness in an already sad year.
....... thanks.......
What's more sad is they insured her for 500m at a cost of 50m. Then her mother died too.
The dark side seems strong.
Thank you for sharing this video. My Mom in Heaven bought me that magazine when i was a kid. Be safe, be healthy, & God bless you & your Family
Wow, Dynamite magazine. That’s a throwback! I got that in the mail from the late 70’s through the early 80’s.
Such a cool interview. I hope they release George Lucas’s cut of episode nine or even the JJ cut someday

Dan Jordan THATS MY LINE
Thanks for uploading so much!
Really got into you reading this man, thanks so much for showing us !
O' WoW, I remember collecting those sticker cards on the cover of Dynamite. The back of the stickers made a puzzle of an Ewok. Pretty shure I still have Luke around here somewhere.
I miss her. R.I.P Carrie Fisher

I feel like this is sad to look at this past interview for many reasons. But mostly to see the hopes of what they thought was gonna happen, not happen
Rest in peace Carrie Fisher
We all love you
RIP Carrie Fisher. The most iconic Sci-fi Princess in my eyes.
I miss Carrie. Gone way too soon. She was really charismatic.
Keep up the daily uploads man 👍
For some reason the person who was doing the interview had a good idea what was gonna happen in the distant future with Star Wars! And by Fisher saying she would refuse to play a older version of her character along with the original crew and different directors.... What a hell of a prediction! I'm shocked that she said no during this interview but glad she made a final return along with original members, RIP Carrie Fisher 😔☝️
I just looked up star wars, I'm a big fan of small indie films, good video!
Alas. Carrie never ever realized how beautiful she was.
R.I.P to the one and only, Princess Leia. We miss you!!
Thank you for this. OG star wars fans recall the times of uncertainty as well.
edit: Newer star wars fans are experiencing uncertainty now.
Wow, that final line by Carrie almost made me tear up;(
