Very nice disassembly. Some top points: 1) unique boombox with dual cassette technology; 2) strong 15v DC drive motor; 3) Sharp used its own high powered 10PBC74A 15w speaker drivers (which I was surprised to see in a portable unit); single belt driven cassette assembly in a dual cassette mechanism (top notch engineering). Well worth a restoration. Super job on the re-foaming for the speakers (just the way I do it; it was cool). Sharp made some very high quality and competitive portable electronics that don't get the recognition as Sony or Panasonic often do. Thanks for showing this. Super video, my friend.

No wonder these old sets last so long. Look as the design, 90% construction using solid state diodes, capacitors, transistors, resistors etc. etc. They hardly broke down unless violently abused. Keep the good work my friend!

Excellent. You gave every moving part a tiny dab of Grease. This is just the difference between "Will work for the next 10 hours" versus "Will work for 10 the next years".

2:54 - the access holes for the tuning slugs are all labelled - to make it easier to do an RF alignment. Not sure how many boomboxes would ever get that sort of service, though.

What a Beautiful & thorough job you did.I want to personally thank you & tell you how happy I am to see this Video..I just found my old identical Red/Black SHARP WQ T282 that I got as a gift back in 1985,as we were cleaning out our family home today..I'd show you all pictures of it,if I could.I recall they sold these in the color choice of Green,Black,Blue,Gray, and Red. My old stereo was sitting in the back of my old closet in my childhood home.I want to restore it and use it again,as it has a such sentimental value to me.I was doing research & when I googled the part # and this video popped up!. :) Mine is all RED & black & all complete including the power cord and battery cover, but very used and dirty,in identical shape to yours, bent antenna top and all....LOL.I'm looking for help in buying the drive belts and the speaker cones for it also.Did you wash it with straight water,or was that Alcohol?..I want to thank you again for taking the time to show us all this.Anyone who can help me,email me at BUBBLEMUG@GMAIL.COM...Thank you so much. :)
