Dice with cups to place on top, cards, tokens, player screens with offer in front (Isle of Skye), ... So many ways to solve this, thought the same thing while watching the runthrough.
yup. for folks who don't have any d12's, they could use two d6's instead and add them together to indicate their choice. or even simpler, once everyone says they've made their choice, they all 3...2..1...GRAB the item they chose, simultaneously (that wouldn't work for us though since my wife takes so long to choose, i'd often forget what i'd chosen, so i need to make a "note to self") :)
@@rahdo Can't do 2d6, because you can't select "1" with them. But I'm talking more from the publisher's perspective. They already have a set of tokens 1-8 illustrated and included in the game. All they had to do was add "tile 1" to "tile 4" and include a set for each player and you don't even need to shield it with your hand.
2d6s still works... just stack them with the 1pip on top :) and yeah, there's lots of stuff they could have done, like a 1-12 on the board that you put a cube on, and you flip that portion of the bord up to hide (ala dungeon petz) for instance :)
For people that don't have a D12 they could scan a supply board and print it out (maybe even laminate it). On your turn cover it with one hand, place a finger on a hex/square with your other hand. When everyone is ready, reveal. If you just play with 2 players then you don't need to make one, just use one of the unused supply boards.
you can also just use 2 of the d6s that come with it per player. or you don't need anything and just have everyone make their decision and when everyone's ready they simply grab the item simultaneously :)
1. I love to see multiplayer and solo modes in your Spectacular three video series. I hope you will continue doing like that in the future. 2. Spectacular does not reminds me of a Burgundy nor Calico. It reminds me of Harmonies. How would you compare those two? 3. Come Together sadly was not available in Europe (or almost not available, at least it was out of reach for me). 4. I recently received playmat from Crafting Kingdoms that I won in your last contest in R&R show back in Jan or Feb 2023 at the times that you did it only with Ruel. Now I have same one as you have and I love it. Thank you 😀
I might be missing something, because I haven't watched a playthrough yet, but couldn't the d12 home rule still slow things down if everyone revealed at once and several players had made the same choice? Wouldn't you need a "do over" for all the players that unknowingly selected something that was gone before they got to pick? I still like the idea, and maybe even with do-overs, it would be quicker. Really excited for this game!
what you choose from your support board doesn't affect anyone else. it would be the equivalent of everyone in a game of 7 wonders choosing the card they want to play simultaneously, and then revealing it simultaneously. currently, with the rules as written, it works more like some players can choose to wait for other players to pick and reveal their card before they do, which has the potential to slow things down :)
That d12 idea is pretty genius
Taverns of Tiefenthal is the first game that comes to mind with a similar open-draft-and-pass system.
ah yes, good reference, and a very good game as well! :)

nice d12 selection idea!
i don't know why it i didn't occur to me, but two d6's would also work :)

i haven't gotten a chance to play harmonies but it's on my list to try! and glad to hear the contest thing worked :)

Where can we find an up-to-date list of your top 20? Couldn't find it on your FAQ.
it's always available at ranked.rahdo.com (with box art) or games.rahdo.com (with links to runthroughs) :)
Unsure if I missed it, but is there any dice mitigation? Ability to change the die values?
the 5 workers you get can +/- on a die that matches it's color, but once they're used they're gone! :)
