I have one of those. One day at work, I opened a guy's parcel for him, and he asked me if my knife was sharp. I said I'd misplaced my stone in a recent move, so it's not as sharp as I usually keep it. He then produced one of these from his pocket and told me to keep it. It really is an awesome device. HOWEVER, it's a quick n dirty type sharpening. It literally whittles the steel from your blade, and if you use it habitually, it can create a washboard surface on the edge. Stick to stones for your expensive knives, but if you're out in the field and find your knife is dull, this thing will fix it up real quick. Also, yeah, I used it on a ferro rod, and it throws more sparks than I've ever seen, even off a cheap rod.
Ive had one or more of these in every kit for many years now and you just displayed everything that makes this tool awesome. I honestly dont want to imagine not having one.

Great tool, I’ve have one but never thought about using with a Ferro Rod or scraping fat wood. Gave me an idea to incorporate into my leather sheath also so I have have a tool with multi purposes. Going to grab a couple more for my kits. Great video SSBA, again!!!!!:)......thank you for sharing!!!

Had one in the drawer for six years and never once used it until I saw this. Sharpened every knife and scissors in the house. They were selling it at the local non chain hardware store. My coworker in the meat department had something similar and turned every knife into a fish filet in a year. They were buying knives for her every year. Boss man thought because my knives never turned out like here's that I must not be cutting as much as her. I know how to keep the knives sharp and rarely shave off the metal and when I do I do it lightly enough to save the knives and still get it sharp.
I moved to Canada, and finally got a decent belt knife. Went looking for a whet stone(it's amazing how many these kids don't even know what that is), and couldn't find none. Only thing the one place had was Speedy Sharps for $2. I picked one up, a little apprehensive. Tried it out--love it. I carry it on my persons at all times. Use it for everything. I see folks buying loads of these, but I've owned my for three years. It's just as good as it was when I first bought it, albeit the steel part is a bit tarnished. Definitely a good purchase.
I know its the best even use it at work to open boxes. Have sharpened axes knives. Scissors hooks and that what you call it blade that death carries around and it keeps me amazed own 3 of them now

I had seen 101 do a modification of that. It's good to see it's for yous but if you have absolutely had to you can cut 2in off of the handle and you can make another scraper out of that. Good video thank you. God bless take it easy rainbow T-Rexes and other stuff

Snowboards have a stainless edge all around. The steel is one of the board layers. It allows sharp shredding in the snow and with time, that edge dulls

That's an old school bevel tool. Lowe's sells them all day long. It really should only be used when you need to re-cut the angle of your bevel, then you sharpen, then you hone. Be careful using this with knives, you can cut some crazy wavy shapes with it if you're not careful. They are super useful, though. I''ve used one for 10+ years on all of my yard tools.
Sharpen all my knifes with one of these... I have the corona one but it’s same thing.... they work awesome!!! All my knifes are soo sharp I can shave the hair off my arms! Once you get the technique down to a science your golden!
Very handy tool. I'd like to try one. When you let that fire, what do you mean by, it will melt that magnetic parts bowl...?? The 3 of those that I have, are all made of stainless steel with a magnet on the bottom.

That's because you keep "sharpening" use the hone to keep the blade edge sharp and only sharpen when the edge is really out of shape.
You pushing too hard.
if it's already sharp and without major burrs you can just lightly drag it over the top
removes close to nothing. literally no reason to use much else

A Speedy Sharp has been part of my EDC for about 8 months. Best Ferro rod scraper I have tried. I keep one in my pocket and another in my EDC pack.

I've been using one for a few years but its sold by Corona as a pruner sharpener the Corona one is a bit longer too for guys with bigger hands
