I just want to say thanks for your shows. Im a disabled Vet and all the information that you give to people to make there lives better .keep it up. I have told a lot of people about your RUclips channel.
All good, love the shovel, my folding one has a serrated edge but is heavy, that would be a better one for me. Thanks for vid. Sending you and your family healing thoughts. Rainbows and unicorns and love to you all.
It's important to make your bag fit the area you live. I see a lot of bags that have a hatchet or machete. That is a great option for warm or southern environments. I live a bit further north and an axe a buck saw are perfect. I see a lot of guys pack snare wire. That's a great idea and really keeps the weight down. I carry a pair of conibear 110 traps and a small leg hold. A bit more weight but almost a guarantee of food in my area with mechanical traps. Just saying it's so very important to make sure your bag fits you're environment. Also a wild edibles book is supper handy for long term, most are state specific. Great video BA.
Jim Helton***You advice is great...thanks brother...I also try to put a few small things for areas that are within 50 miles of you...because you may wind up on the move...and 50 miles sounds like a far trek...but it's not really that far in the grand scheme of things....especially if you have to apply evasion tactics...just some of my thoughts...God bless..🌎⚓🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love them arrow heads and they are the hardest part to replicate of an archery set.(NOTE TO BILLY;there isn't always easy to find flint ,obsidian or other natural materials like bone in nature and they tend to be brittle)
Yup, My son and I are sick as well in Nashville.(cough, cough, Ugh...sneeze) Good ole allergies.Anyhow, fell better soon as well as the family and I think Im really digging the b.o.s.s. gear.Take care all.:)
Appreciated you doing theese vids, so far any thing I have added to any of my bags is from things that you gave recommendation to. I still love yard saleing and I found a local surplus dealer that has korean war era colapsable shove with the wood handle and the pick. That is the king champion shovel of the world. I took the 4.99 harbor freight machete and put a double edged drop point on it with the grinder. Now it is a proper looking zombie hacker.
I think that Fowler guy took the shovel when he went to Patagonia and he took some flack for it but it ended up being one of his most useful items while he was there
I've got an E-tool from the 1960's, I bet it weights 15lbs...it 's bulletproof, though! Thanks for sharing all those tools, I was not aware that Coldsteel made so many different products!....time to spend some money.
Really enjoying this series have been getting all the kit's already have most of the tools just need a good ax. Can't wait to see the bag your going to use I'm thinking a 511 bag
I like the idea of the cold steel products .. I have the Gurkha machete and it is awesome and have been using it now for 4 years .it has preformed flawlessly . And I have a sweet spot for kukri knives .. and that shovel is awesome also been using one for about a little over two years and abuse it on the regular when camping . It's mainly what I use because you can chip and dig with it . And the chainsaw saw is great to have they just make work easy .. even the axe is nice but I don't own one yet still working on getting one .. but for 25 bucks plus shipping that kurkri machete is great to have ..and you should consider also watching a few videos to learn how to use it and fight with it . Since it would be hard to get a real Gurkha troops to teach you ..it's actually one of the best balanced knives on the market .
Old Man just use a pencil sharpener thay work like a dream you'll find it very handy for tinder arrows skewers small pegs/stakes and it will save the edge of your knife just get the sharpener for fat pencils that small kids use
Great video SSgt. I worked on my truck a little bit today but it was too cold to do any filming as it was in the 30's. Was unbearable enough doing one of the 2 fuel filters I got on the thing.
Great video SSGT!!! Your chosen tools are spot on.You know I never liked Morakniv until my wife bought herself one.they just looked "cheap" !!!! Yet after using it a bit, I developed a grudging respect for it ability's! they have a lot of redeeming qualities, not the least of which is the value pricing.
As always great video...I'm a huge fan of Cold Steel products...all the gear you displayed is all good to have things great choices brother🌎⚓🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸☕☕👍👍
MINOR Critiques, BA. Why did you go with the Gang Ax instead of one of the Cold Steel Hawks? Couple of them have Hammer Heads, plus you can Whittle out a Handle from a nearby tree. Then one good slam and it comes apart, thus easier stowage. Also, your Arrow Heads? Don't waste time on a leather wallet. Just put them in an Altoids Tin with a couple of Store-Bought Bow Strings. Saves time trying to rig something out of Paracord. Hope you all get well soon.
sick? that's going around central PA too. weather this year is not helping. some home made chicken soup is a one pot meal that helps me all the time. making some for a friend now. hey maby I will video it! get well soon and again a good video!
Awesome picks, I am curious how well the ax gang will work after some abuse. Hope you all get better soon nothing sucks more then when the kids are sick.
My only comment is concerning Cold Steel machetes. I have and have used a lot of CS products and i love the majority of them. I used to sell knives and survival related items and CS was probably my 3rd largest inventory item in edged tools, Condor being 1st and Ontario 2nd. I carry a "large field knife" on my utility/pistol belt, and it is actually a Cold Steel 12" Spearpoint Machete. Best feeling handle ever (for my hand), light weight with enough mass for efficient use, but unfortunately now out of production. It's my favorite everyday use backcountry blade. The current Cold Steel South African made machetes are rougher finish than the China made blades used to be, and anything over about 18" is pretty flexible (seems flimsy). I'd only use them for grass, vines, and smaller limbs. NO hardwood hacking. The handles are more "plastic" than "rubber" feeling as well. Personally, I'd rather carry a thicker and more robust Condor machete in any length above 12"... and do. I carry a Condor 15" Bolo Machete on my pack as a replacement for an axe in any case except felling a sizeable tree. Staying on Cold Steel, as far as belt knives, the Cold Steel Recon Bowie, a shorter (7" or so) version of their Trailmaster Bowie, is hard to beat, though some might feel it is a bit heavy. Many of their folders are excellent, too. I just do not have broad enough experience with them to say "all", but that would be my guess. My 2¢. After this video I will be getting a CS shovel to try out. Still carry a mil issue folder.
nice kit. the shovel i prefer can be hard to get now but it is the WWII german trenching tool. most of the modern ones i simply would not trust to stand up to the punishment. yes they are quite heavy but they are good
That "typical cold steal testing" you can have for a cent, I have had two high tier cold steel knifes break on me, the lawman and the recon 1. I have had a mora break on me too, however that one lasted for years, and through more abuse. It also costed a fraction of any of the cold steels i own, 5 to be honest. I dont trust cs more than mora, not at all.
What needs to be made is to take one of those new battery powered backpack leaf blowers and add a swash plate pump motor to drive a 8 inch chain saw with teeth designed after a silky 650mm hand saw. That would be one amazing tool to have to in order to build a shelter in a very fast manner. Super quiet very fast very stealthy! 😁
That broad head kit is pretty BA.... see what I did there, how is the weight of that axe compared to one of their tomahawks, I went tomahawk for camping/hunting to reduce weight, shortened the handle too
Marbles has good stuff, most made in El Salvador like Condor knives, the markings on the hatchet handle are Chinese characters not artwork, that is a Chinese pattern hatchet, not sure what it says, the Swiss army knife is good except for the pliers I have the same model, the saw on those actually works!
Idea for a bug out tool. Calcium carbide canister with a pressure valve that drops water into canister then stops has a pressure valve closes off the water and pressure builds to allow another pressure valve release the gas to a burner. That can then be used to power a thermal electric generator a heater a rocket stove with a burner in it with a titanium plate for radiant heat or to power an absorption refrigeration system or to heat up a crucible to make rounds and to operate a lighting system. A multi tool all set up to operate off calcium carbide. 😊
Why not design a simple tool that can do lots of things rather then depend upon other things like propane and fossil fuels which will be very controlled in a SHTF event. Its always nice to have lots of options right? 😕
The cold steel shovel is my next to uy item. I got a Gerber folding shovel from my daughter, used it again last week. And i must say i live in Norway, and it is a cold country. Well short story, the shovel broke in two. Used it in summertime and hard,no problem, but in the cold, pling. So i had planned to buy the CS one,no doubt it will hold upp. And it is made out of 1055 carbon steel. It is ok steel to make a knife, would be alot better with moore carbon for a knife, but it is near perfect to use in a shovel,it will be strong, because it will not break easy, not to much carbon to make it brittle. And it will not break so easy in the cold. I am going for it.
For not much more weight a cold steel trail boss would give more cutting power and be a better fighting axe....two hand grip and a extended toe and heel to allow you to punch the axe forward in tight quarters.
Those different heads you could attach a metal piece to a hard wood or bamboo walking stick that ypu could drop those heads in and slip a pin through and couter pin it to secure the head to the top of your walking stick or the bottom.
Have you ever tried or used a puukko knife from Finland, the terava 110 or 140,I got a 140 an love it, it's like a mora on steroids, also for my chopper I chose the 240mm which is the skrama, I like a clever on steroids as well, not expensive, all are of 80crv2 carbon steel or you can get if you can f ik ND them, stainless steel, the offer for 30.00 more awesome leather dangler sheath, just thought I'd let you know, also I'm looking into coldsteel for my trail boss axe an as a back up in my bad my gransfors small forest axe.
How about graphene blade used for cutting ice like butter all from the warmth of your hand? To make an igloo or cut through ice to reach liquid water? A specialty tool? Most folks will laugh at having a graphene knife in dey bug out gear till they needs one to do stuff with ice! A graphene blade could also be used to generate electricity when used with a module to utilize the graphene to do so. An aluminum thermal heater powered off body heat from your hand to power a flashlight could also be used with a graphene blade to cut up ice. Always nice to have lots of options. 😵😲😂
I’ve got one of those cold Steele shovels. Me and a couple buddies were on a trip down mad river, I’d brought it with my just for shits and giggles, and I was collecting fire wood with it and they started making fun of me for using a shovel. Now I tried to explain to these non believers that this thing is an absolute killing machine. I said watch this, I lifted it up and threw it at a tree probably ten yards away. It stuck, I said you see that. Deadly. They laughed and wanted to try. We were messing around throwing it when my dumb ass had the idea the chop a standing water bottle in half. I go, check this out. I swing and hit it, but the shovel goes flying out of my hand into the river. At this point it’s dark as balls so I couldn’t find it. I went to bed a salty camper. The next morning I’m standing there pissing in the river and I see something that’s just enough of a different color compared to the rest of the river bottom to spark my interest. I reach down and grab it and wouldn’t you know it my shovel. I was so pumped I lifted it up in the air like an asshole and was like, she has returned. 😂😂😂
i have a kabar kurkri and i have a sheath with a mora attached to the front of the kurkri sheath so you have a hard use blade and a fine use blade together you might be able to build a mora sheath behind the pouch you were talking about building into the the kurki sheath
A sharp shovel makes no sense, just another potential for injury. Just get a nice military grade folding shovel, throw in a Sog tomahawk hatchet and call it good.
Soldiers dont even like the folding "E" tool and there very heavy and to many moving parts to fail you wanna talk dangerous there may not be a cutting edge but get pinched folding it or the sharp edges of some of the parts the cold steel shovel os far better and more reliable
hi SSGT bad ass, hoping you all kick whatever bug is lurking around. The cold steel spetznas shovel is freaking awesome, wether digging latrines/cat holes or digging into "zombie" skulls lol I decapitated a huge rat with mine, a blunt shovel or other blade makes work harder :)
Oi dude. That is a lot off stuff. Maybe individually light but you bag is going to be heavy limiting you speed and capable distance. Personally i would not carry a bag that weights more then 30-35 pounds water and food included. So you can move fast and long distance easy. I mean honestly you bugging out. Chances are your in a hurry, you got no time to dig holes, play with arrow heads or become a lumberjack. I would go like this water, food, extra clothes, a decent knife, a tarp, string, small sewing kit, small first aid kit, small fishing kit, a small fire kit, a small container for boiling water and a sleeping pad. All this an my pack is till under 30-35 pounds. If required i could then add a rifle and as much ammo as i could carry extra. I would prefer that to dragging around a shovel and a freaking axe any day.
Max Ejnar aye to each their own as you are saying weight is an issue packing heavy requires more training and will be a bit slower in most cases it's why people like 22s AR-15s and most carbines. I'll tell you this 22 and 223 are a good thing when it comes to weight
I just want to say thanks for your shows. Im a disabled Vet and all the information that you give to people to make there lives better .keep it up. I have told a lot of people about your RUclips channel.

Oh you might want to add a carpenter's pencil. You can make thin shavings to use with your ferrite rood for starting fires.
Old Man just use a pencil sharpener thay work like a dream you'll find it very handy for tinder arrows skewers small pegs/stakes and it will save the edge of your knife just get the sharpener for fat pencils that small kids use
Good video as always. From what I've seen of Cold Steel its pretty good gear for the money.
Yeah, my wife's sick. It's going around in the south as well. Hope you feel better soon. :)

I like that stuff 👍🏻. I hope y'all feel better and God bless
Another awesome video brother, I love me some Cold Steel goodies!! That shovel looks awesome, I really need to get one of those.

Bluelew777 thank you
Was wondering about the finished product with the leather work.
Keep up awesome vid Sgt BA learned alot from you
Rickey Lewis thank you brother
very cool tool video hope you & the family gets to feeling better take care brother
I love the cs special forces shovel. Really need to get one
Thanks for another high quality video. I’m going to start doing videos in regards to survival BOB/INCH bags and bush crafting. Any solid advice bro?
nice kit. the shovel i prefer can be hard to get now but it is the WWII german trenching tool. most of the modern ones i simply would not trust to stand up to the punishment. yes they are quite heavy but they are good
That "typical cold steal testing" you can have for a cent, I have had two high tier cold steel knifes break on me, the lawman and the recon 1. I have had a mora break on me too, however that one lasted for years, and through more abuse. It also costed a fraction of any of the cold steels i own, 5 to be honest. Albert Jones thank you
good show
thanks man ur great loved the gang axe how can I get one
Might be in my dropdown menu
Thanks so much! Where's the link for the tools?
At the top click on the arrow to the drop down menu
I’m thinking about getting the MSK 1 survival knife. Other than price of which I’m aware. I’d love your thoughts on this knife. Thanks.
I swear you look high during your video intros. Nice stuff
Hell of a coffee cup. You need to add a can of WD 40 to use on your hand saws so they saw through green wood without gumming up.
Old Man Don't forget we still have a miscellaneous video coming up
Nice video, good stuff for a bag.
Phil M Rivers thank you
There's Phil! Hey buddy.

Just trying to help others out there (and pointing them to your page to get ya more subscribers! Lol).
i have a kabar kurkri and i have a sheath with a mora attached to the front of the kurkri sheath so you have a hard use blade and a fine use blade together you might be able to build a mora sheath behind the pouch you were talking about building into the the kurki sheath
A sharp shovel makes no sense, just another potential for injury. Just get a nice military grade folding shovel, throw in a Sog tomahawk hatchet and call it good.
tikiduck folding shovels are alot heavier and the SOG tomahawk Don't work so good for chopping
Can you do a video on why there is no such thing on why there is no such thing as one knife to "do it all!
Bro... why you biting my tool kit? 😁 j/k Love Cold Steel.
OHHH AMIGON tantos videos geniales , por favor, hace uno en español de preferencia sobre esa pistola 45

Have y'all seen that silky nata hatchet? 😱
not yet
A couple of silky products have a full tang with pell away grips. Which easily allows it to be attached to a longer handle. 😊
Don't cut yourself on that shovel
Max Ejnar the shovel isn't really that heavy. Good point though. I could have just took the kukri and the survival knife.
Max Ejnar aye to each their own as you are saying weight is an issue packing heavy requires more training and will be a bit slower in most cases it's why people like 22s AR-15s and most carbines. I'll tell you this 22 and 223 are a good thing when it comes to weight
