Living Legend! The Greatest of All Times. As a little girl being at Jah Love and seeing how people would stack them tape deck to record the selections Ilawi was playing and to hear Brigadier Jerry the Greatest D.J of All times flow none stop for 12 hours with pure freestyle. People a travel from all over the Island sometimes a week in advance just to make sure them reach a one Jah Love dance. Respect for this interview of my Dad.

Wait? Wait? Is this the legendary Albert Johnson aka Ilawi of Jah Love Muzik? Ilawi is one of the most talented selectors, singer, and drummer. Ilawi may have more talents that I don’t know about. Ilawi’s daughter Hempress Sativa is making some serious roots and culture music right now. The talent runs in the family. Give thanks Teach Dem for interviewing this living legend. Eastman endorsed

Jah Love played at Balham Studio 200 in 1982, and it was road block . We had to put speaker boxes out on the street, in order for those who could not get into the Club, because it was ram to the capacity, because the response of the people was overwhelming . The popular tune from Briggy was PAIN at the time, and that tune was big in England, which may have been the reason for the big turnout to listen Jah Love .

Yes good to see the legend.. Illawi the best selecta of all time !!! Jah Love Muzik kept the biggest dance/session in Porus Manchester, Jamaica W.I.... i was told the soccer field became a market place ,, vendors were selling items and food ... They say that when Brigadier Jerry was chanting on the sound ,, the rain came down and there was lightning and thunder.. A very historic dance .. very very crowd.. When they were heading back to Kingston in the morning , they drove slowly and waved to the people and shake everybody's hand .. respect to Illawi , very good selecta .. very good good singer,, very good drummer .. long live Illawi..

End of Story! Good for all the other Selectors who have been playing the 1 Sound for 40 Years! This Man played Jah Love for More than 40 years and still Strengthen Stur Gave Hi Fi at the behest of Daddy U-Roy and never skipped a beat a the World Renowned Selector for Roots and Culture! This Man Pioneered what is called the "Orthodox Selection" a bet yuh nuff don't even have a clue what that refers to! His influence span worldwide and ask all the names mentioned in the world of Selecting they will still tell you Ilawi is there influence. Danny Dread and Ilawi are Icons in a Real Life! Living Legends who pioneered Jamaica's sound system culture and if Anyone is going to be the Goat is those 2. Jah Love was never a Clash sound, Ilawi ONLY played music to inspire the mind consciously in the name of Ras Tafari.

I would have liked to have heard more about the twelve tribes selection the greatest selection of music ever put together by a selector.. & asked him if it was true Bob Marley actually sang live on Jah Love combining with the Brigadier just like how Dennis Brown & Freddy McGregor did & I would have liked to have heard more about the great twelve tribes dance that was held at Dunns River Fall St.Ann’s back in 1980 but don’t follow me Teach Dem is spoil mi spoil & I give thanks for what I learned from this great outerview Big Up Ilawi you are the template for all selectors around the world .. & please 🙏🏾 Teach Dem if you could get the Brigadier to tell his story it would be very much appreciated..
