As a fellow piercer, i find this interesting cause i sleep on my left, yet that's my stubborn ear. This leads me to believe it might come down to piercing technique and scar tissue, considering my left ear was pierced with a gun, as opposed to the right with a needle.
Yeah, my left ear is my bad ear, and I move around so much while sleeping, I couldn't effect it. My left ear was also pierced with a gun, and was a bitch to heal compared to the right. It bled, was constantly sore, and also pierced kinda crooked. Even changing jewelry years later was worse with the left. It's definitely improved as I stretch it, and glass plugs feel so much better in my ears than any sort of metal, so that's another benefit.
Me too my left ear was pierced with a pin on the bus on my way home from school when I was 13 and I sleep on that ear and i just waited two years to size up to 9 mm and it still hurt lol, whereas my right ear was pierced with a needle and I don’t even need to use a taper to size up, I can literally just slip the next size plug in with ease
The reason this happens is like you said, scar tissue, the simple fix is having a circular blade punch used to cut out the scar tissue, and then a surgical steel plug is inserted to keep it a nice even round shape while it heals, then it will stretch easily from then on
I sleep like a rotisserie chicken, rolling round and round all night. Both my ears stretch very easily, but I also have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. That means my tissues are both ore stretchy and more fragile. It also means I dislocate joints regularly and sublux them over a hundred times a day. Chronic pain sucks, and I have to sleep with no plugs sometimes to try and avoid premature stretching. Because while it sounds cool, it would also probably scar, tear and lose circulation easily if I let them stretch as quickly as they can naturally! Remember: you can always wait a few more weeks, or even months. You cannot always fix damage when it is done!
My right ear is my super-stretchy ear, and it indeed was the side I slept on until I got my other rook done a few days ago. I'm sleeping on my back until the flat piercing on my left side is just a little bit older (it's six months old now) and okay to sleep on. Perhaps my stretchy and difficult ears will switch after that!
this was a revelation - I just started stretching my ears (am at 12g right now) and was wondering if there was something wrong with my right lobe... turns out I mostly sleep on my left side. I always figured it was because of that one time I put the o-ring on the left side on too tightly and it got pulled into the hole a little bit (it ended up being fine), but this makes a lot of sense. thank you!
Damn, I never even considered this, but it is 100% accurate for me. I have slept on a travel pillow ever since I first got my ears pierced, but I toss and turn a lot, so it's hard to ensure that my ears always stay centered on the pillow. I don't mind having to wait longer to stretch my lobes, but my main concern is that I've noticed my "good ear" becoming noticeably thinner than my "bad ear" as I've gotten to larger sizes (currently at 20mm). It's not dangerously thin yet, but it has definitely made me more cautious about how much time I'm taking between stretches.
I had a pretty bad back injury a few years ago and I had to learn to sleep in my back everyday 😅🤔 but that kinda worked out in my favor when it comes to piercings 😂🙌
I find this interesting, as I don’t remember either of my first holes being overly hard. I found when stretching my second holes it was way harder on my right side around 4g and up.
I've pierced my lobes with a gun. 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4ths. Stretching or one ear easier than the other has never been a thing for me. It's always been the same. 1st, 2nds and 3rds are stretched. The only time I went to a piercer was for cartilage and a lip piercing. We over hype not using a gun so much. I was this way until I took all my lobe piercings to rest and my lobes were never red irritated or half healed. That's when I knew for me that piercing gun and lobes are not as drastic as other people like to make it only because I am walking example. Would I pierce with my nose without a piercer. Yeah probably. Anything else, I'd go to a piercer.
So I basically had a disk of scar tissue in both ears cause I bitched out of healing at the third week. I tapped a 22 post through and shot up 8 sizes in 4 weeks. Basically I just waited until it felt okay and everything was easily moving and just kept increasing the size. Had to tear through that ring so no matter what I’m kind of destined to have a blow out here and there. Right now I’m just sitting on the 6 to give the right ear time to loosen up. It’s the first stretch where the right one has stayed noticeably tighter that the left.
What you mean by a stretching pillow? I’ve been stretching my ears since 2013 and my wife recently started her journey and she’s at 8g and after all the years I’ve been stretching, I still find it a little tough to explain certain things.
This is funny because I sleep mostly on my left side, and my right side stretched faster. Although tbh during high school I had previously stretched my ear and then let it go back to normal earring size so that is probably why xD
Both of my ears have been pierced with guns at the age of 10yrs old, could that be the reason why I have a slower time stretching then other people I have seen? They can use the 2-3 month method of wearing heavy jewelry but I have to use the taping method because MY EARS ARE SO STUBBORN!!!! But once I get to the right size of a single flare tunnel my ear slips over the flare so I know I am up a mm AGAIN and it’s just a cycle….
A question. Can we stretch ears using spiral tunnels?. İ got a kit with spirals size by size to stretch ears. But couldn't find any content with stretching spirals. I'm confused is is safe
My bad ear is bad ear due to trauma of the first stretch O rings got stuck in it, had to pop it out and let the ear heal as a normal piercing all over again 😅
I've got a question about ear stretching I've been at it a long time. But it seems now my ears will not go any larger they aren't even that big year just a little over 00. I've tried taping but they just won't give and obviously I don't wanna hurt em. What can I do to get them up to my goal of 20?
my advice as someone who isn't a professional but has spent a lot of time in stretching communities is to either go up by a smaller amount or wait longer. you can often find single flare glass stretching plugs in half sizes online, maybe look for a 10.5mm set and see how that goes :] also, from what I know, time in between sizes often increases the bigger your ears get- so you may just need more time
Get yourself a (digital) caliper. 0/00 sizes can range from 8-11 mm I believe. Maybe your next size is more than 1mm big, causing issues! So it's best to start measuring in mm's and take 1mm at a time at most.
I’m at 1” and I’m perfectly happy with this size and don’t wish to go any larger but my ears keep getting to where they wanna stretch to the point where any jewelry I put in falls out and I don’t wanna keep wearing only silicone. Any suggestions or advice?????

I was just going to say the same.I sleep on my left side and that's the ear i struggle to stretch the most

That’s always been my issue. I sleep on my left side because of acid reflux issues. That left ear stretches like a dream 🤣
Same with me💀
I sleep like a rotisserie chicken, rolling round and round all night.

Actually yeah. You can fix a blowout and it’s easy.

Oh wow, I would never have put 2 and 2 together. Thanks!!

Have you considered dead stretching with glass plugs?
Massaging your lobes with jojoba or vitamin E oil could also help.
I was going to like this but it's at 420 🎉😂❤
Its not stretching faster really... its more like my tissue on the right side is way more loose
