    An idea: Have the golem attack the characters when it awakes. They know that only it knows the code, so now one of the spellcasters must cast detect thoughts or similar magic while combat is going on

    Finally figured it out it's how do you get to the next numbers and finally realized it's all just a pattern to get to the next number

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  2 года назад +1

      Yep, this is what is called a "Number Sequence" puzzle. It's basically logical thinking to see a pattern in the numbers and predict the next one. Keep in mind that this is a HARD puzzle to run, so give as many clues as you can. Also, be sure to make it multiple choice. If there are 4 hands in the bucket, each labeled with a number, your players will have an easier time solving it if they see their "guess" is one of the answers.
      Finally don't be afraid to ask them how they arrived at the answer they give and if it makes sense, say: "yep, that is the answer!", even if it is different from what is in the book. You definitely don't want to have frustrated players, so be sure to help them if they need it. But also, the timer is out, so it is also okay if the gas knocks them out. But, I think solving it is the better route to go.
      Good luck!

    I really love the setup, but some things are a little bit unclear.
    What happens after they try to use wrong body parts? Is there any kind of feedback other than the DM telling them?
    And how exactly are the limbs "wrong"?
    Maybe using a heart instead of a limb with the weaker ones not being able to keep the golem alive. And adding a chance to awake the golem with the wrong brain, causing it to rampage - destroying the blocked door but having to be fought as well.

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  2 года назад +1

      Hey their Weird Yarn! Thank you for starting the discussion. Funny you mention the wrong body parts, because I was thinking the same thing myself post-production of this video. The "incorrect" parts being attached is definitely left up to the DM as to what they want to happen, but, here is what I was thinking:
      All four brains work, but only one has the code. The other three could be different personalities? One could be evil, one good, and one with psionic powers? One of the hands could be that of a wizard and paired with the wrong brain, it is able to cast spells? All different types of combinations and possibilities.
      I definitely think you are on the right track with the brain on a rampage... and the "heart" idea is golden. Well done! I dig it.
      Hope this helps, cheers!

    I really enjoyed this :P Not sure if due to the goal of the puzzle or the way you presented all of it! ^^ Nice mini set up once again!
    It almost reminds me of a puzzle book I owned when I was little...(I wonder if I still have it around lol)
    Also, Thanks for putting the link for the book! I love and need DnD horror stuff and that book looked just like what I needed that I went and bought it :P
    Thanks for the video and bringing this to our attention!

    hi :) loved the idea but lost the body parts as I felt it will go better for the kids i run it to them. I made it to a door with 3 locks and 3 hooks near it . above the hooks you have difrent numbers [2, 7, 3...] and different number on the keys hooks [1, 4, 5 ,9...]

    I kind of love this one, because it has a distinctly... Nintendo 64 Adventure game vibe to it. I can't describe it better than that. But also a halloween-spooky aesthetic. I'd use this in a game that had a bit of camp to it!

    I solved the 1st to differently (and before I saw the possible answers), but though I got the correct answers, I solved them incorrectly, which would probably mess me up for the last one. Though having the possible answers would help eventually.
    2, 7, 3, 8, ?
    2 > 3 is +1, 7 > 8 is +1, so 3 > ? is +1, the answer is 4
    3, 12, 6, 24, ?
    I got 12, but I looked at 3 > 6 is 2x, 12 > 24 is 2x, so 6 > ? is x2, therefore 12

    I really don't like when puzzle don't have a reason for being there. Some guy is dying and takes notes instead of opening the door? Who numbered these body parts and why? who wrote down these number series and why?
    maybe instead give hints to the name of the person who knew the code and a list of names corresponding to the numbers on the body parts...
    good video though.

      Thank you for watching Rischard, much appreciated. I like the brainstorming you did here. These are all valid questions... and ones for the GM who decides to run this idea to answer. My videos are about presenting an idea. I show the way I would do it (or the initial base of the idea) and the GM can either use it "as is" or "make it their own". To be honest, I've done many videos where I have recorded a puzzle and and folks in the comment section come up with a better way to utilize them. This is one of the things I love about this channel. I throw an idea out there and through the comment section we build some fun and interesting encounters together. :-)
