From EPIPHONE:
Dave Grohl is an alternative rock legend who needs no introduction. A longtime Gibson user, his previous Gibson signature guitars have remained extraordinarily popular and command premium prices on the used market-when you can find one. Now Epiphone is extremely proud to once again partner with Gibson Custom on the release of the Dave Grohl DG-335. It features the combination of ES-335 and Trini Lopez model features Dave requested and that fans expect, including a semi-hollow ES™ body with bound diamond-shaped sound holes, a one-piece mahogany neck with an elliptical profile, Trini Lopez-style headstock with Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners, laurel fretboard, and split diamond inlays. The pickups are Dave’s preferred Gibson USA Burstbucker™ models, with a Burstbucker 2 in the neck and a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position. They’re wired to CTS® potentiometers, Mallory™ capacitors, and a Switchcraft® 3-way toggle switch and 1/4” output jack. This is one of the most requested models in Epiphone’s history, so we are X-Static to offer this exceptional guitar to players worldwide. An Epiphone Dave Grohl hardshell case is also included.

YES!!! On this one JOHN! Looks like you really enjoyed this DG335, and it showed!👍👍
Love everything about this, and believed your review and score! Truthfully, from what has been going on with Gibson/Epiphone as of lately, this price is not bad!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Picking up Thursday from Gibson Garage London - cant wait..all the websites are taking pre orders with waitime until Oct.. however i got mine already to pick..so excited
My DG is on the way. Thank you for the awesome video.
Sold out even before it was released next batch is May 30.
It's still in stock - use our link! Buy here: www.zzounds.com/a--3979398/item--EPIEIGCDG335
Yes, they were available until about 11am today my time. Hopefully they restock quicker! Thanks for watching
£1300 for a freaking epiphone. Such a rip off what next $20 for a big mac
@@brandonhitchings8540You won't believe how much is a big mac here in Argentina... 😢
Not true; I got mine when they released. Be faster next time.
I wish that epiphone would make an aldo nova les paul
How about we stop suggesting that Gibson/Epiphone could charge more for said guitars 🤷♂️
Hahaha! Good point!
Exactly!!! They’ll do it anyways, but they don’t need any encouragement to do so!
Love this guitar! Beautiful and sounds fantastic!!
Betting the bridge saddles are causing the buzz. Great Demo and review man !
i want a chris cornell 335 either in the gibson standard line or epiphone with the new headstock, and the trem.
best review i've seen so far
I think youre the 1 st to do this one. Seeing some footage of Dave live i was shocked is that a Fender or Gibson. Ah firebird head explains it. Could you do a vid of your line up back there? Some beautiful jags or jazz.'skin and bones'; Grohl is versatile for sure.
An epi with bad frets. What a shocker.
yeah but is a reallly expensive epi.
I honestly really like this guitar just as a guitar without Daves name attached. Its got great tones and looks to match.
Couldn't they switch the MOP inlays for acrylic ones and give it a rosewood fretboard instead? Or is MOP a spec people really prefer? And is there going to be a Gibson USA variant of these? Great review as always, guys
Tbh I feel like I’m desensitized to the $1299 price since you have the $1699 price for the Firebird V and the $1499 for some others. It seems affordable in comparison to those.
Still waiting for the open book Epi Les Paul Custom that was teased on Epiphone Japan’s Twitter
that purple blanket roll looks like a horse blanket that you would use under a western saddle. I have one in green lol
you mean a horse blanket or blanket roll?
I already ordered mine from Sweetwater on 1/26 and was supposed to get mine today, but I got pushed back to the 2nd batch b/c half of them went to either RUclipsrs or their biggest customers. I'm pretty bummed out b/c I was expecting it today. I'm glad I get to see and hear it being played, and also glad I paid extra for a full set up as well!
I ordered the same time as you and have to wait as well 😢
Personally, I am not into Dave Grohl or Foo Fighters (I really don't get it), I am not the biggest fan of pelham blue finishes, and I don't like the Trini Lopez attributes on the ES-335 guitars. That said, wow, what a nice guitar!!!! That thing sounded great and I thought it really brought out some great stuff in John's playing (he must have really been feeling it!) BTW, why didn't you show off the case????
Thanks for not playing foo fighters stuff 😅 I’m a big foo fighters and DG fan, but we don’t all play foo fighters all day long.
Is this the drummer from nirvana playing guitars now! 😃
Is the neck a one piece like the Joe Bonamassa signatures?
Yes it’s one piece
now that epiphone is selling chinese guitars for 1000+ we need an affordable brand to epiphones
Yeah but the overall quality is still lacking in Epi's, they still feel like the budget Gibson alternative. Chinese guitars can be really good and worth their pricing, but just not Epiphone I'm afraid
I’m probably going to get this guitar but suggesting that $1299 is affordable for this build quality and that they could’ve charged more is astounding
They sold out of the $1699 Firebird V in hours, so considering this has Dave Grohls name and Trini Lopez features, only if it's kind at this price, yea they technically could have charged more but as I said I'm glad they didn't. I said it's priced right
@@PlayandTradeGuitarsIf you want to attract fans to your channel, don't carry water for these price increases. Your explanation doesn't help. They could be making very small initial runs to say they sold out. These prices are extreme for guitars made in the absolute cheapest market in the world, with laurel fretboards found on Fender Bullet Strats. If you like the guitar, that's all that matters. People can decide the price for themselves.
Should be a good guitar. Little overpriced I think. What can it do that a Sheraton or Sire can't? The aesthetic isn't worth the money for me. Looks cool though.
My Sire is so good, I don't need an Epi or Gibson ES.
Are the picups waxed ?
TWEL HUNDUH FUH EPIFOAM
So, not to sound mean or snotty, but why, other than the color, signature and diamond holes, would anyone need to pay $1300 for this when they could just buy any other 335 type guitar and it would sound basically the same? I know different pickups sound different, but how is this any different than any other 335 type of guitar, other than those cosmetics?
An ebony board would have made more sense.
Kurt rolling in his grave😂
Incomplete and incorrect information on the previous Gibson releases on price, years produced, and production numbers. I'll let you do the after-the-fact due diligence homework though.
Deal breaker at end of day is the laurel fretboard that feels sandy and just not as solid precise as rosewood or ebony. Same with Pau Ferro - kick rocks they feel "cheap". I sold my Epis because of that - Korina Explorer and Muse SG bye bye. Never again. Having said that the Epi BB King Lucille seems to have all the shiny black and gold and foo foo TP6 bridge and Varitone and an EBONY board not that grainy laurel crap..... hmmmmmmm...and they ain't rippin' you off price-wise like this Grohl in powder puff yuk blu with axe holes in it (BB didn't need no stinkin' F holes). Think I'm lyin'? Search it now. Ironically I bought a $179 beater to protect my Gibson Monkey SG - an Epi SG Special with kill switch pot and it SAYS rosewood board again do AMS and damn if it ain't sandy and a ton of fun - no you won't confuse it for the plek'd bound with nibs Gibson board but with a killswitch and all it's where Epi should stay - about $179 w/killswitches and rosewood necks not fake big boy pants Gibsons because they aren't even close - too bad because they do good neck profiles and binding but the BOARD!!!! 🎸
Had me until the Indian Laurel
You had me until the handcrafted in china sticker 😂
Why didn't Gibson think of doing this ?
They did. Those models are over £10k
Trini
16-18k + in uk
It blows my mind people want a Dave Grohl guitar.
He writes a solid riff
@@dkarhu Add more than a couple decades to that.
"I don't like this guy, that means no one else likes him"
Haters will hate.
He’s been a staple of rock music since the 90s and that guitar is beautiful. What else do you want?
A grohl signature. What the ukfay is world coming to?.
"I don't like this musician, how is it possible that other people like him?! diffrence in taste?! Impossible! I define what good music is!!"
What?
He’s a better guitar player than you.
Indian laurel....
Yeah, not a fan of it. I had an Epi LP Standard 60s and didn’t like the feel of the Indian Laurel. Apparently Pau Ferro is better as a rosewood substitute. Wish they stuck with that.
pock mark special, and for this price should be rosewood!
Lost interest as soon as they mentioned Indian laurel.
Wow guitar snobs alert
@@Jobalob Bro I’m far from a guitar snob. I don’t even own a Gibson. I just don’t like how Indian Laurel feels.
Indian laurel ruins it
I'm trying to say away from Chinese guitars.
There's some solid brands and builders out there, Epiphone's just not one of them
😂
@@Jobalob try an eastman, plays and feels better than a gibson
No thanks
@@Jobalob well, your loss I guess. But if you ever visit a guitarshop and they have one in stock, just try it. You'll be simply blown away
Indian laurel and the headstock is bigger making it look goofy.
$1,299.00 for a made in china guitar = no thank you.
$1300 for an epiphone because it has Dave Grohl’s initials on it? No thanks.
Overpriced Epiphone
