Nice to see a real life ownership review, thanks.
I have a 2018 D180s R-dynamic which I purchased 18 months ago with 31k miles full main dealership history etc. It now has 46k on it and will be 6 years old in October, no problems to date and still looks and drives like new. The 180 engine has plenty of go and averages about 40 round town with 50 possible on a long run if I’m trying……If you’re car is over 3 years old JLR offers preferential service rates however not many owners seem aware of such. I also get my oil replaced at 12k rather than the recommended 21k which is absolutely ridiculous IMHO no wonder some engines suffer premature damage. 👍

Hey Lester, thanks for the comment. Always great to hear from other real world owners and seeing no problems either. Thanks for sharing your experience with the car. We have filmed a one year review ownership that we will release soon as well which you may also like. The D180 is a great option and like you said great for MPG too! Thanks for chatting to us 🤗

FYI I just had a look at the configurator and you have to work a bit to get it to £70k. With a few popular options I built a perfectly good new model for £57k. Nice to know your 4 year old car has had no problems. Likewise my car has been faultless for 2 years. The problem with the popular stats on any car's reliability is that people only contribute if they have had problems; there is also a silent, satisfied majority.

Hey Tim, thanks for the comment appreciate you sharing your experience. And yes you are right, all the people with no problems don’t feed back it’s only those that have. That’s why it’s so hard to guage a fair percentage of reliability. But that’s why I love hearing from real world owners who comemnt on our videos. Thanks for chatting with us 🤗

I worked for a large national newspaper in the transport dept. We had loads of high end company cars, BMW, merc, audi, range rover and lexus. One of main duties was organising replacement cars while others off the road for any reason. By far the worst brand was range rover, followed by merc.

@@memememe2674 it's not that they're faulty in a major way tho, whatsoever, mostly it's electric bugs, tbf those cars are overcomplicated by design.

I've had my Velar P250SE for 4 and a half years now. Drives beautifully, acceleration good. Once one issue with a stained roof lining was fixed at new. I have had absolutely no issues with this car. I was going to sell it at year 5 when the warranty expires but pretty sure I'll keep it another 5. It's so trouble free and it'll be a few more years before the market improves on EVs and Hybrids.

My 2019 240D HSE. EX JLR management after I year old 10K miles. Now 47K miles with no problems. I changed the rusty brake discs when pads were changed as JLR would not honour a warranty claim. I did take extended warranty with JLR which has not been used. One of the best cars I have owned and I have owned 54 new cars since 1963!

But I would check infotainment screens (no freezing) timing chain if any work? Door handles makes sure they open and sit flush. Test all gears on test drive. See if had gearbox service. Overall hopefully it’s got a good service history. Good luck. Let us know if you get it and thanks for chatting 🤗

My '19 P250S with the ZF8 transmission has had no real issues but only gets about 22MPG. What I don't like is the dealer charging $350 for an oil change. I do them myself now for 1/3 of that where most of the cost is the oil. Oh and the "throwaway" drain bolt because they don't sell the o-ring for it.
Otherwise, I love the design and the overall look. Very nice interior (as are most JLR vehicles). It drives and handles well.

    • @CarChatTV
      @CarChatTV  Год назад

I can empathise so much with your comment! I recently did the oil change myself, as the price they charge is ridiculous. I used an oil pump and it worked really well as I couldn’t get underneath the car! Thanks for sharing and chatting with us. Appreciate it 🤗

@@CarChatTV I bought some ramps. There are about 15 bolts to take out to drop the gravel shield, then the oil change is simple. Filter is even simpler since it's up top.

Hey thanks for the comment, the ingenium engines up to 2019 had a load of issues mainly down to the materials that were used. But the 2019 engines onwards seem to be much better. Brought our D180 HSE as approved used just over 1 year old for £40k Jan 2020. It’s done 33k and replaced an Evoque as needed more room. Door handle replaced on warranty no other issues unlike Evoque that went red with DPF. Having same engine but north/south seems to allow DPF to get hot enough. Just got brake pads at rear
But might do the whole Brembo replacement as out of warranty. 35mpg

I’ve the D180 R-Dynamic, 2019 model which I bought 2 years ago one previous owner with 31k miles - approved used from a main LR dealer. So far it’s been 100% reliable apart from one of the door handles failing in the locked position, thankfully not the driver’s door 🤔. It now has 49k on it and returns 40 - 50 mpg consistently, service wise I’m changing the engine oil around 12k rather than 21k which I think is too long plus I want to look after my engine. Performance wise it’s quick enough for sure and in dynamic mode handling is very good as the suspension firms up. Would I recommend one, yes but make sure you have a decent warranty for peace of mind-there are a lot of RR hater’s out there as you’ll find out should you get one however most have never owned one. Thanks for your review 👍

I literally took a leap this year (June 2024) and swapped out my 2016 CLA 220D Shooting Brake for 2020 Velar D240 S. I need the ride height for our trips to the highlands. My main concern was the security around the vehicle but I found out that there's actually a security upgrade with certain models (for free) so I have my car booked in for that specifically. Everything so far feels good, drives well, pulls quick if needed. If you're sensible, you can get over 40mpg from your drive. My last attempt, I was getting around 43mpg and climbing, so I'm curious what it will actually do longer run (eco mode). So it is possible to get good mpg if you drive sensibly. It's possibly not the car to get if you have a heavy foot, but you may actually find that your driving style changes over time as it's just a great car to drive and be in. There's definitely a sense of prestige and class when getting into the car which probably won't wear off for quite a while. Not gonna lie, definitely outside the budget I wanted to spend - insurance wasn't as horrendous as I thought it would be but shop around - car tax for the next couple of years is just going to be something I pretend is not happening 😂. Overall, really happy and love getting into it every single time.

I'll never understand people who buy a big 4x4 then opt for a 2 litre engine. Complete waste of money.
As for your Land Rover warranty being good, think again. I have the top level of warranty you can buy, direct from JLR, and there is so much that isn't covered. Great cars to drive, but not so great to own. As for any car can go wrong, yes you're right, but LRs go wrong more then other makes of cars.
