I was leaving Page, AZ going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon when the fuel filter clogging light, service fuel filter message came on. I drove back into Page, pulled into an O'Reilly's back parking lot and found this video. Fortunately I have been carrying a spare fuel filter and have the wrench, but I've never done a replacement myself. This video was great. I followed it exactly and we are on the road again. Only loss was a diesel-soaked shirt but I knew my "bath" was coming. Thanks!!!

That is great! I just wished that I have used the drain plug in the video. The main thing that you are back on the road again.👍🏽

You are a great teacher! ... very patiently and helpfully explained. A cool accent too... your voice would be great for kids audio books or films. 😊 Thanks, Jonny from Ireland

There is a valve on the bottom, so you can drain the fuel out of the filter. That way you can avoid the "fuel bath".

So helpful. A couple of notes from the manual that might help you. The valve on the bottom is to drain the fuel to help you avoid the “gas bath” and grease will help you to get the canister back on easier.

Thanks a bunch! So glad I found a video for my transit diesel. I know there are not many of those transit diesels out there! Had to replace my fuel filter, alternator and replaced the belt cause I had it loosened due to the alternator being removed anyways. It was all a breeze with your videos. Very informative and to the point!

Brilliant video my friend, a wee tip though the plug on the bottom of the filter housing is a drain and that stops you getting soaked in diesel when you remove it 😁

There is a drain valve on the bottom of the Fuel Filter. I should have drained it first. You drain yours and your job will be better than mines.

Unfortunate I didn't watch you video before I started, your step by step covered all the things that can go wrong. My canister had all but one fin broken so it was a job getting the filter canister off and on..and the fuel bath while lying on my back under the RV was a big surprise. Then after bleeding it was leaking, finally got it right enough. My last time I'll try this, it's worth the $195 I was quoted for the job..

great tutorial! please advice with the following issue : Fort transit, diesel van 2012. Every time i fuel full tank engine starts juggling, loosing power on more then 3000 rpm, still doen not shut off, as if there is a vacuum in tank preventing fuel flow.

Let me guess, I bet that there is no Engine Light on. I would hook up a Scanner to the OBD the next time you fill up. Have someone else driving and Run a Engine Diagnostic going down the highway.Save your reading. When the fuel level goes down and the vehicle runs normal again. Do the same thing and compare both readings.

Drain the fuel out the bottom through the valve before removing it. Save you getting drowned in fuel.

Hey thank you for providing this content. I have a 2019 transit and it's my first diesel vehicle. Quick question...do I need to bleed the fuel line before the change out, or any btw's? Regarding before I go in and change out my filter?

    • @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892
      @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892  2 года назад +1

You should never have to bleed the system. Let that be your last choice. I Thank you for watching my video!

I'm not sure if i understood you correctly: Is it to be expected that the engine runs smoother after a filter replacement?
Changing the filter when it's required, not for general improvement of course.
