YES finally an budget videos i love these my entire home page is filled by these budget gaming pc vids
Pretty much every old PC with at least 4 cores from Intel can be paired with a new, low powered GPu to make a for a great 1080p gaming system.
Depends on the Manufacturer. Sometimes the PSU is too low to add anything, like 120W. And its also proprietary, so an ATX PSU cannot connect to the prebuilt's motherboard. Then you're screwed.
In fact most prebuilts have non replaceable PSU's. Notice how the PSU was not upgraded in the video
@Gyro Adapters exist but don't work on most HP computers, idk about dell. The motherboards have a Watt limit like the Erica board, you can't supply more than 200W in. So you will need a similar workstation board like the Rother that can take 500. The HP 24 to 6 pin is not supposed to work, reducing the pins in which power is delivered is highly not recommended, there is a high chance of damage to the motherboard.
@@UnintelligentVideos GT1030 might be able to do that with a 30 watt TDP

I actually really enjoy SFF OEM systems. Having a PC the size of an Xbox One S is convenient for media centers and living rooms, and they're easier to move if you want to bring them to LAN parties and such compared to a mid-tower system.
Thank you. I'm looking at getting a gtx 1650 for my sort of old, but still old office pc. This really helped alot!
This was the perfect video at the right time! I've been wanting to buy a bunch of these Dell optiplex and tune them like you did, my college has a tech sale every year and get rid of a bunch of these, hopefully I can get my hands on a few and maybe resell them 😀
Exactly, been planning to built a budget pc!

isnt the whole idea of a ryzen is a cheap all in one igp option?
Love your videos, sir. Yes, the power supplies in this old machines usually don’t have 6 pin connectors but more importantly they are usually 240-260 watts. Therefore, the low power draw is important. I just upgraded a Dell Optiplex with an i7-3770 CPU by installing a GTX 1050 Ti that I got on Offer Up for $85 and it works great. I tested the system on Unigine Valley using Medium and Ultra settings and the power draw was never over 150 watts. So I have a nice eSports machine for under $250.
@Jezza 04 can we install 1650 on Dell 7050
Hello, I know this is old but how can I know the power draw of my PC?
I actually put the same card in the same version of this prebuilt dell for my younger siblings and they absolutely love it. It works so good for them 😅

Great video, just finished a similar setup for my youngest son, but with an i7 3770, 12gb of DDR 3 RAM 1600mhz and a GTX 1050TI, it plays decently at 1080p hight settings on most games and even handles emulation up to the Wii U and Xbox 360 👍 keep up the good work as I really enjoy your videos buddy 💪

that's probably just his recording software, pretty sure the actual experience is actually good
He had vsync off so that the games would run higher than 60fps. However, that creates screen tearing.
Simply just turning vsync on will fix it, but you'll find poor performance in some unoptimized games.

This is a great entry PC. I sold my gaming PC two years ago and am kicking my self. I recently bought a optiplex 9020 MBU & I7-4790 for $150 and parted out a bunch of the other components for a grand total of $289. This thing runs well!
This was my first "gaming" pc as well. They were around 100 bucks just a few years ago. Crazy to see the prices nowadays especially when you consider that old tech would always get way cheaper as time went by. These pc's held up their value EXTREMELY well.

Why not SSD instead of that HDD?
They give you like a 5 second boot time difference. Turn on Dell's Fastboot wirh a HDD formatted in UEFI and it can boot in 7 seconds flat. (source: my MT Dell Optiplex 390)
Specs:
i5 2400
R7 360 OC 2GB
6GB DDR3 1333MHz
Seasonic 550W
Only if it's a solid HDD mind you.
Mine's a Seagate Barracuda 1TB, 7200 RPM. A solid brand if you ask me
well an idea is to get an intel optane memory to boost up that hdd istead of a ssd while taking the advantage of big storage.
@Thomas Borisov Unless it was a typo and meant to say 200w, I think they're referring to a PCIe slot power limit which is common on small SSF office PCs. In which case, options are limited.
@@BlueEyedVibeChecker this information is totally just information but other than boot times (not to mention after a HDD hits over 80% the read/write type changes to be slower to protect data) SSD highly boosts OS operation, game loading (especially in open world games), render speeds, etc. It's just better overall, and they last literal hundreds of times longer under the same use. They also frequently use less power. SSDs really are just overall better technology. The thing is they are, truly, not always necessary, but it's best to always have a dedicated drive for the OS and a secondary and possibly third drive for mass storage and programs.
I got the optiplex 7040 with i5 6500 16gb ram, SSD and HDD for around 95 dollars. Then for 60 I found a regular 1650 but requires a 6 pin connector and I used a SATA adapter. It works great. I also found a LG 75HZ 1080p monitor which is perfect for all the games I play. I bartered that down to 40
I started with an old Optiplex 990 for $15, nothing wrong with it had an i7 2600 and 16gb of ram. put a 500gb SSD and a GTX 1650 Super in it and it works really good.

I wanted to do something like this, but instead i built a shit pc
What specs?
What are the specs
That could have happened to anyone, shit happens and we learn from our errors
I have a similar pc and it works well.
I bought the MSI version of this low profile 1650 for an itx build that would only support half height cards. I wish the 1650 Super came in this size but with a 6 pin .
I have the optiplex 990 with the same I5 got it for 10 bucks at a Goodwill got me a new tower power supply and 16 gig of ram plus a i7 2600k and Radeon rx460 and run games with no problems
For that system i would actually drill holes on the side panel just so the GPU is able to get more air because in a normal type of system the max i have seen is 55c which if the GPU is going in the 70's then there isn't enough airflow and would be best to have something like that or for someone that would have more heavy duty power tools could cut out a big hole on the side panel and then use a mesh like filter which would be helpful especially if said person would have like a table fan could just angle it and would have some air pushing into the system.
did you know what did my cousin do about it? he left the side panel open xD ik that would be a dust cage but he will clean it
I put that GTX 1650 into my Fujitsu Esprimo E920 office desk PC (i5-4590, 3.3GHz Quadcore / 16 GB RAM / Samsung EVO 500GB SSD) and it performs great.
High speed video rendering and draft previews are fluent,
Games like GTA5, Just Cause 4 and even the new Resident Evil 3 run at around 62 FPS on all epic settings.
Can't complain.
Whole PC cost me under 300 Euros.
I have that same system except I put in the Xeon e3-1270, upgraded the ram to 16gb as well, and slapped in a gt1030 (gddr5) that I scored for fifty bucks (disclaimer, the 1650 lp didn't exist when I got the system, plus it was out of the budget at the time anyway). I scored the 1270 for just under 40 bucks and the thing runs circles around the original i5 2400 that came with the system. I gotta say though, the 1030 can still rock e-sports games pretty decently and can even hold it's own on some modern titles as well with a few tweaks here and there.
I used a gtx 1660 and slowly added more to it. So far I’ve added: 24GB ddr3 ram, 750w PSU, and gtx 1660. I’m planning on getting a new motherboard, and AMD based cpu, and case next.
(It was an optoiplex 9020 with an i5 cpu)
I had that optiplex exactly tho i made a full mod for it, i am talking new case, front panel adapter, gpu, psu, all that good stuff and it was good
im doing a transplant on one of these for a friend for a gaming pc since the prices of everything is crazy. and since i got one for $100 on ebay.
I realised my class pc are dell optiplex 9020 sff. All the classes have a 40" tv screen with one of them.
Try a xeon with a higher turbo or newer optiplex and try a ivy bridge or hasswell cpu. You may have to get another optiplex to support xeon by chipset.
Omg i just tranformed my optiplex 990 i5 in the same way you did!
A long time ago, i used to play with a WINDOWS XP PC that had 2.99gb ram and a quad core cpu (i dont remember what the cpu was). And it still ran a few games pretty well surprisingly. Oh and btw, by a "long time ago" i actually mean in like 2016 lol.
LTT coincidentally released a similar video a few days later... sigh. That's why i'd rather support and watch more from the underdogs of the YT tech channels.
Probably would want an SSD for that. A small one is inexpensive and makes the system much more responsive.
That is basically the specs that I’m putting into a gateway pc
Most companies have preconfigure profiles that dont have admin privilege.
In my case, I lowkey plugged my extra SSD with separate OS and the GPU.
I have tried add msi gtx1050ti lowprofile in SFF Lenovo M92p i5-3550 16gb ram with default 240w stock PSU.
The results :
Works normally at first, but the performance drop significantly after one week cause psu power distribution problems, removed the vga then pc back to works normally.
