I have one for the same reason did not want to keep my expensive set up in my truck. I do train with the freeman regularly and my biggest con is the lack of shoulder padding. It tends to get quite uncomfortable. I ordered some ferro knock off shoulder pads to see if that helps. I also switch between molle elastic 3 mag ar & elastic 4 mag PCC pouches and they seem to hold up well during training and without the mags they are still fairly flush and low profile. My full size kit is preferred but the freeman is a nice cheap option for a vehicle setup.

Thanks for doing this review. I’m headed to AR 500 on Monday to get something for my wife (Im just 5 miles down the road from them).I think this will work for her as a just in case precaution.

I think you are correct. I'd feel better if my wife had one in her car but she doesn't want one

@@PalmettoPrepared I was a bit surprised my wife said “ok” when I mentioned getting her some body armor. She is not a tactical girl.

Seem some what small Antony. ! When i am in a turkey shoot i don t want to be the turkey lololol. I saw one on Elon Musk and i thought it looked small . I would take my chances looking down at the intruder crawling in my bunker ! it really hard to hit some one in the vitals laying on the ground or running around like a chicken . Some protection is better than none . Better yet don t be in a position where ya need protection . Have you shot a handgun round into that body armor ? What do ya think bullets stopped by large thick books . I mean i don t know if that works but would love your oppinion

It is small. It doesn't help that I'm so big either but it's a bare bones system that basically just protects your heart and important parts of the lungs. Regular systems use 10x12 plates so a few inches bigger. I haven't shot this carrier no but I do all my shooting on steel targets using the same steel as these plates and they definitely handle being shot without penetration. As for books, there are all kinds of stories of pocket bibles stopping bullets during wars but I wouldn't bet my life on that. But I have served with several Marines that were shot in the plates by snipers and other taliban and survived to tell me the story

thanks for the review, great price...I have a couple old police vests with plates (never used, heavy heavy)....I know sooner or later a magic metal armor plate can be created which will allow body armor to cover more of the lower belly (and figure out a way to sit easily) and the sides of the body....some day. :)

That's where soft armor shines. Lightweight and flexible...ish. much more comfortable. Biggest issue with it is it can't stop rifle rounds effectively

    I prefer oranges over apples.
I kinda like the clanking and a con can turn into a bonus....sometimes....
Im 53 and have the body of a 10 yr old.

Body armor can certainly help. Won't completely stop getting shot, but anything helps. Wonder how long till our overlords decide we can't have this either.

Some states have already made this decision. Can't have a gun and can't defend yourself either. It's madness

Thanks for the review. Would this have a problem with fragments if something hits it since it's steel? If it does, it might be pointless protection if fragments injures the wearer.

Yes there is no antispalling coating here. You can however get the pads to fit in there to stop that. But I'll take a copper jacket to the shoulder over a full bullet to the heart any day
