I made this meal today, it was so satisfying and I made extra chicken peas for a snack on the side. Chickpeas can feed the world. Thank you Wil for the years of sharing your recipes for beautiful but simple vegan foods, I am very grateful for you!💜
Wow, Wil! Amazing! Yesterday, I made a similar basmati rice dish with fresh green pigeon peas and soya chunks, cooked with coconut milk and spices. I will need to research orzo...have never heard of or used it. Thanks a million!
I've been blending basmati rice with orzo for years as I like the variation in texture. Your recipe takes this great blend to another level. I love your recipes as many can be made using ingredients from a well stocked pantry. How about tips on preparing/using different types of rice noodles without turning them into a soft soggy mess.
Rice, orzo and chickpeas add all the amino acids of protein. The almonds are a bonus. Raisins and chickpeas are a natural combination, too. Can't wait to do this one.
Só cool that this video has been posted 2 hours ago and already has over 580 likes and 2300 views. Good job Will, I wish I could cook like you! I did the veggie stew a few months ago and it was delicious and easy. Thanks!
Once again you hit it out of the park. I will be making this next weekend for my meal prep for the week. Thank you, I have all the ingredients except to raisins and almonds. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I make and can my own veggie stock. Just keep scraps in a freezer bag like the core and outer leaves of cabbage, ends of carrots, tatsoi and kale stems, outer skin of onions (it makes the broth golden and has more nutrients than the onion itself) and garlic skins, celery leaves and ends, green bean and zucchini tips and on and on. Simmer for a few hours then strain, can or freeze. Easy and free! I use it to cook all of my rice in with a dash of EVOO and sometimes garlic powder. I'm trying this recipe with fideo because I don't have orzo. ❤
I was so confused as an italian. I'm not sure if some region here in Italy calls it like that for real but i was unaware of any pasta type called "orzo". "Orzo" actually just simply means barley and we do use it as a sort of rice-like grain for risotto-like dishes (look up "orzotto") so i was expecting you to whip that out but it was pasta instead and i was so confused That's neat, i guess there's always something you don't know
Looks simple and tasty. I'd have to sub the raisins with something else though, when I find them hiding in savoury foods it makes me gag a bit. Maybe capers instead.

Hello friend👋🏽 You’re so right, onion and garlic sautéed in olive oil is an amaaazing aroma😌😮💨
Hi! 🙋🏻♂️ The best!
Looks delish, Wil! I might add dried cranberries or cherries in place of raisins as they're more apt to be on hand during the holidays! =]
Excellent suggestion! 🙌🏻😎 Enjoy!
Love this one. Easy, nutritious and looks delicious. Next one I'm going to try. Many thanks 🌼🌸🌻

As a college student this is a very helpful recipe, and it looks absolutely delicious
Some months ago, I actually did make a fried pilaf, but only out of necessity, as I had run out of rice. Turned out quite a bit better than expected.
Another great recipe. I am buying your books.
Hope you enjoy this one and excited for you to receive them 🙌🏻😎
I’ll make this pronto! Well tomorrow when I get some orzo and almonds
Well done. Very appealing. Will have to try it soon.
That looks delicious. And I like the combination of orzo and basmati rice.
😋I am going to try this.
This looks amazing. When you started to cut up the onion, my eyes started watering 😂😂😂
Yum, I’m definitely going to make this wonderful recipe. I’ve just started using basmati rice in my rice cooker, love it ❤
This is just stunning. Not „too-middle-eastern“, perfectly balanced❣️
Got to cook this!

You might also find them under the Greek name kritharaki, which is also derived from barley.
Thank you!
Lay ho! I didn't find the Shopify info in the description. Did I miss it? Blessings!
Delicious 😋
🙌🏻 Yessss indeed
Every episode makes me wish I could be a taste tester in your kitchen 😋
😁
Restaurant quality cooking at home! ❤❤❤
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I know what I'm having for dinner... ❤
Woooo! 🥳 Happy cooking
I'm trying to find Orzo. Is this wheat? What kind? Thanks
It’s pasta that shaped a lot like rice.
@lamemechose7072 oh, thank you
Perfect pilaf! ❤
Looks simple and tasty. I'd have to sub the raisins with something else though, when I find them hiding in savoury foods it makes me gag a bit. Maybe capers instead.
I love your channel ....I'm gluten free which cookbook would be best to purchase?
Any raisin would do. Either golden or regular
rice A roni...the san francisco treat...
It’s not made with basmati rice and chick peas, almonds, tho,. No comparison
WIL< this look so delicious. Can’t wait to try it later this week. Thanks for all of your Fab Recipes.
You are so welcome! Happy cooking 🙌🏻
I just had orzo too :-)
Yummm
Do you produce your own music? It would be awesome to have a playlist of the tracks you use if they are available.
I prefer jasmine rice to basmati rice will it be detrimental to this recipe using jasmine instead ?
I need that answer also
I can't imagine it would make too much difference, if you don't use the sticky kind at any rate
It would be equally as tasty 🙌🏻

❤
I bet some dried cranberries would be good in this dish also
😍😍😍
🙌🏻
And I said, "It just needs fresh parsley..." so 10 seconds later, you cut up the parsley! 😅
😁🙌🏻 Great minds
@ Great cooking! Thanks Wil!
I would swap the raisins with jalapenos. Or red bell peppers.
Hmmmm. Not so sure about this one.😊
Dude did you ever hear the saying self praise is no praise?
I was all in until he added the raisins. I’ll leave them out.
😢wah
too may carbs for my taste.
OK Karen, but I'm skipping the raisins.
Recipe cook nice mister 🙂👍👍@rudioxce
