Thanks for this, _Variety._ And thanks for doing this, _David._ I love deconstructing the process.
As I watched the _"Write What You Know"_ section, it got me thinking how much I'm going to miss _Orlando Jones,_ and the input he had on *American Gods.* His monologues moved me so.

what concerns me the most is the the room he is in. What is up with all those rabbits? The rabbit door? I really admire how he is able to push aside his ego for the betterment of the project. I can totally relate. As a former musician and having to working creatively with other musicians i struggled with for many years with wanting to control the directions of songs to just trusting that through collaboration and incorporation of other ideas it becomes better. Sometimes the songs ended up worse imo. But i always grew and learned something each time.

Also Lost didn't have a twist ending. It's fine to hate the ending and I understand that point of view greatly, but don't make up lies to make your point. Use the truth to make your arguments. And the truth has plenty to support your position.
And Watchmen had pretty good ratings.

Excellent writer, excellent producer. But to no end does it bother me that people who don't write, or only have a surface level of knowledge on story, still bash him because A) they didn't like how lost ended because they don't understand mystery shows, and B) they didn't enjoy Prometheus due to their nostalgia level for Alien.
This too feeds into, albeit subjective in nature, how we view movies and our critique of said movies. Star Wars being and Game of Thrones being the prime examples. It can all be squashed down to this:
    Pre-internet: I didn't like what happened in a movie/tv show.
Post-internet: i didn't like what happened in movie/tv show therefore the writers are terrible and I'll make hit pieces on RUclips so everyone can piggie back it.

Awful show. Obviously, Lindelof didn't want to make Watchmen. He wanted to make his own woke Superhero allegory about race and feminism. Fine. Then write your own show, but don't steal Alan Moore's title and characters' names to make your show relevant and get ratings. I thought the whole thing was unethical.

It was one of the best shows of 2019 and universally critically praised. He did nothing but show the utmost respect to the original graphic novel, and his approach totally suited that world. You're an idiot because the creator would bash and shun any attempt to adapt his works, no matter how good they are. That's just how he is. Hes never even seen the watchmen show, nor will he ever see it.

Dave Gibbons read the pilot script and said "I found Damon’s approach to be really refreshing and exciting and unexpected". What Disney did with Star Wars is the exact opposite of this: Disney had no original vision to continue the saga and ended up creating a mess patched with superficial fan service, Lindelof's team took the key themes of Watchmen, dug deeper into them and created an original and engaging new vision based on the same world and characters. But well, you may be one of those guys that missed completly the intentions and themes of the original Watchmen and think Rorschach is cool and a true hero and stuff like that. (And come on, Moore is a genius and all but he hates to the guts everything).
