    Lost is still my favorite show and I’ll defend that ending to my last breath. I don’t really want to see it reboot by a new team that might undo some of the magic that the series held.

    • @lonelyone
      @lonelyone 3 года назад +6

      If the original creators and cast were involved, it would be interesting, but if new people came in and changed up the mythology, it might ruin its legacy. But of course the decision is ultimately out of our hands. For me, Lost was always Jack’s story and I got enough closure at the end of the series. Though I am curious to see how Hurley is faring on the island.
      Maybe if they did a 10-episode limited series like they’re doing with Dexter, it would give them the opportunity to tie up loose ends and revisit old characters. But a part of me still wants to leave well enough alone.

      A reboot? No. A spinoff? Yes. I'd love for the early island pre-crash and mostly pre-Dharma to be explored. Like even pre-Richard. Pre and post-Egyptian island, maybe all the way up to early Dharma settlement, but before Sawyer and company join Dharmaville.
      I also think there could be some merit in post-Jack's death island time, with new characters and maybe some old faces too, like Hurley.
      I once read a fan script for the very idea which weaved both of these times into a single narrative and it was actually pretty great and made me realize the potential.

      @Doves Fair enough. But ya never know unless you try, eh? Lightning SOMEtimes strikes twice.
      From what I've read and heard, JJ and Lindelof both came up with LOST together to give ABC the show they wanted about being trapped on an island or whatever (I think they were looking to compete with CBS's Survivor popularity) and Lindelof brought Cuse in right away to help him showrun it since JJ was gonna be off doing movies and stuff and no longer involved with the show.

    Yeah the montage was excellent! The whole series was one of the best. Worth watching again once in a while. I just watched the whole series again after 10 years & enjoyed it even more!
    It did a wonderful job of probing Faith w/o Reason, Reason w/o Faith. Just substitute the word "science" for "reason" as in the 3rd Season Episode "Man of Faith-Man of Science." You cannot have one w/o the other & it did a great job of not shoe horning them into separate boxes. There are rational explanations, scientifically for some things. Sometimes there is not such as in Supranatural occurrences.
    Excellent Series. I don't watch TV at all but when I saw the opening scene in the Pilot in 2004, Jack opening his eye in the bamboo filed I said right then. "Oh, this is going to be interesting!" One of the best series I ever watched! Terry O' Quinn & Michael Emerson stole the last season. Superb performances by both. Loved how they tied everyone in all the characters in the last season. Me & the wife still get emotional of the final season when the camera pans in on Jack's eye closing. Wow! What a "book end."

      Pay it no mind; I'm of no consequence at all.
      As for differences in quality....whether or not such subjective difference exists is not where I am; I'm at the point where their signals all merge with the up box....and then those signals are muxed with the final, then THAT is transcoded by YT...then the playback is yet another layer of transcoding....
      There is so much processing going on, any perturbations in quality...whether or not they are objectively there...could easily be left to any of a dozen roll-of-dice factors in post or even just the output on your own setup.
      That's all after the fact that the other two might be using lavas, or they might be using real mics as well...they just know how to block a shot better...who knows?

    Riddle me this - when 815 crashes, MIB is loose on the island, when Locke and Ben go to the cabin, there is an uninterrupted line of ash around it and MIB is presumably trapped inside. Then when Ilana and the group goes there, the line of ash is interrupted and MIB is of course not there. Who manage to trap the MIB in the cabin and how??? And who let him loose?

    • @melrupinski88
      @melrupinski88 4 месяца назад

      The cabin was exclusively used by Jacob at that time, presumably to meet Richard to give instructions or leave lists. The ash was to keep the MiB out. This is why when Ben first takes Locke there, the line is unbroken and no one is in the cabin. Later, when Locke goes back, the ash line is broken and the MiB is inside in the form of Christian Shepherd.
      Although not explicitly in the show, it seems likely that the MiB got Claire to break the line for him after she follows him in the Jungle (also in the form of Christian) and leaves Aaron behind.

    I always wanted to know if everybody on the ajaira plane made it to safety they didn't have the epilogue with Hurley and Benjamin Linus it would have been kind of cool just to see what happened to everybody that was on the plane that's one question I like to know also I think the people on the other Outrigger where either whitmore's people or Jacobs bodyguards but we will never know

    I think they were asked a question early on whether anything could happen on the island including time travel, and they said "No." The time travel bits (other than Desmond's) didn't really work for me, as it meant there was essentially no free will from the earliest point they went back to (with the statue still standing and the rope in the ground) until the latest point after the landing of the Ajira plane when Locke fixes the wheel. What happened, was meant to happen. So that means you can't ask, what if [so-and-so] did something different?

      The network wanted a straightforward survivor show, a TV version of “Castaway”. They had to keep the supernatural elements under the radar until the network realized they had a hit and renewed the show…then they could do whatever they wanted.

    NO to a reboot/revival. What else could they do on the island? Television changed after LOST, most shows use nonlinear storytelling, huge twists, deep character stories now. It wouldn't be unique.

    Locke and Hurley remained on the island, right? Makes sense to do a spin-off with those two characters 10 years later! And, new arrivals!

    im glad some of the questions were serious and thought provoking but i still dont exactly appreciate not answering the outrigger thing and in my case I dont really care who it was more so I dont like when answers are not given to shows and movies that people pay to see get answers from, why would someone go into a story to not see a story or only half told? i know some people will defend that action, I personally think its pretentious. The only time I would not want to know the answer is im afraid of what it could be otherwise I still dont get the big deal.
    And honestly I think lost is a show that could do better with a prequel, I kind of wanted for years to see how magic found its way to the island, the origins of the smoke monster(not mib), statue, cork, etc.

    Enjoyed that. The original run of anything is normally the best it will be. Remakes or do-overs generally are a disappointment. Take JAWS for example......a 2020 version of that with CGI and all the latest tech would not beat it. IMO.

    It had to be the 1950s others imo on the outriggers. Seems like they had orders to shoot on sight. Under Ben this was not the case. It was either Eleanor or Widmore’s command I think. They were the most..”hostile”.. possibly under Ben during the purge to mop up stragglers.

    I have the utmost respect for Damon Lindelof's writings, and his abilities when giving his devotion, that said I am a little angered and very saddened that he does not seem to have any desire, even 14 years later, to right the selfish wrongs of how they sloppily and quickly ended the show. They threw a lot of spaghetti at the wall that didn't stick in terms of the "meaning" and resolution of the mysteries of the show, instead trying to highlight the "journey" or the emotional impact of the characters. And they did nail that part of the series, but the former was an abject failure in a lot of people's eyes.. They wouldn't admit it at the time, but they hastily painted themselves into a corner creating questions they didn't have answers for, and also couldn't come up with, and then bailed ASAP and moved on curtly.
    It's been 14 years now since the end of the show. I'll say it again, I'm saddened and disappointed that given that time they didn't do what Dexter did, or what GoT fans want done, which is go back and maybe deliver a little better product to take some of that bad taste from the mouth. I liked the character journey, but they really missed the strike zone on what the island was and who the mythological beings native to it were. There's a lot of real estate to fix that, and it's their mess to clean up, not some random sanctioned fan of the show writers room.

    Carlton always seems like he can't be bothered answering questions. It's like it's a chore for him. I'm not knocking him for it because it must be exhausting answering the same questions over and over again, especially when (as writers) they've moved on but fans keep them in the past with LOST. Having said that....why does he keep turning up for all the Q&A interviews?
