I just realized that tent mode would be a really fun 1 v 1 game mode. Like when you're playing against the person in front of you! It can start with simple ones like Chess or Battleship. (maybe after the pandemic)

Finally, someone that understands that this isn't a phone - it is a productivity device that can also make calls. This is geared towards people who put productivity over all else. I am one of those people, and I can't wait for mine to arrive. I've been waiting for this device since Gizmodo leaked the Courier footage in 2008.

That’s like saying the surface pro doesn’t compete with laptops lol, sure as hell does
Bryan Miller if anything it competes with the likes of the galaxy fold, only Samsung went for the budget busting top of the line everything. It’s priced between the fold and any flagship slab phone, and is trying to do something very different and shake up the status quo. It’s not even out yet, I think it’s a little premature to say it looses.
Doesn't that make it useless then? It worse than a tablet and laptop ;offers nothing new. The galaxy fold is 100% everything a phone should be first.

tamie341 yeah, if I was Microsoft I would still be kind of embarrassed that they failed so bad with their mobile OS that had to use android when OS software is where they made their billions.
You guys need to give it up. Windows mobile is dead and not coming back. It didn't have the support then and won't have it now. So let it go. ( This is coming from someone who loved windows mobile too being I had a Lumia 1520 and hp elite x3).
I said it before, and I'll say it again: I'd rather have a noticeable gap in the middle of the device than a crease that gets worse everytime you use the device, and has a very soft screen.
There is glass underneath the screen protector and that way it doesn't get worse

Problem are not the specs but the price. If it was 900 dollars it would sell like hotcakes. Those specs still better than most phones from 2019 and most midranges from 2020...apart from the screen. That's the only improvement i wanna see
@@RodolphosTechchannel if it was 900.- I would've bought it. For now I'll get the Galaxy S/note20 Ultra and wait for them to improve this product. If they bumb up the specs and work on that chin and forehead I would buy that one for 1400.-. Jimmy Neutron and the Crimson Chin would be proud of this model.

Bump up the specs, create thinner bezels, and put a bigger Battery in it while still maintaining the beautiful design
@@SecondResponder bigger battery will be difficult coz they wanted to make it as balanced as possible. they definitely have the space in there, but one side would be heavier, it wont sit on the table without toppling over. but i am really passionate about this device and would like to see future iterations with a ton of improvements

I'm afraid if I buy the Microsoft Surface Duo I will never have fun with a Single Screen phone ever again because of the gigantic screen real estate.... No phone has 8.1 inches of screen but the Duo... It's going to totally spoil me 🤣🤣🤣
It's not a phone. It's 2 tablets side by side. You can't put that thing in your pocket.

Without bumpers, it does fit in my shirt pocket. BestBuy has it on display. I bought the LG V60 ThinQ Dual Screen and fell in love with the extra screen that I will never go back. However, am returning it because of front notification screen quit working so durability has to be on the burner. Am going to be looking at LG Velvet dual screen instead now.

This is actually my most anticipated device right now and I can't believe it's Microsoft.
I have always liked Microsoft. They created amazing products from Xbox, and windows 7, and Microsoft office suite etc.

@@abeomer86 i got earbud for my phone..not using it for call because too hassle for that. Unless you listen music or video and got incoming call. Others than that just sitting in my pocket. Reaching for phone much easier than looking for earbud and put on your ear.
If they made a slightly smaller version of this with wireless charging I'd be SOLD. I love the all glass and think the gap just works better until that crease can work better.

@@crookscr6 Only my first day or two when I was learning the device, but after that and a few updates... I'm really happy and impressed by what it can do.
As someone who doesn't need or want 17 cameras in a cell phone, I'm happy to see a new take on what a flagship can look like. I hope it inspires more designs like it. But I do wonder what kind of battery they can fit in such a slim design.
Everyone will go nuts when apple invents this 3 years later.

This looks so pretty. I think it's the simplicity of design and the texture and probably the cleanness that gives it the visual appeal and as Lew said, the friction in the hinges, perfected. Would love to see a detailed review and see how both the OSs work together. Just FYI in the initial part of the video, the Auto annotations say"Loo later" 🤣
It’s refreshing to see REAL innovation again. I’m curious what the software and battery life is like....that’s where it matters in a portable device at the end of the day.
And the Ram for apps
the software is at worst that of a normal android slab and I'm sure battery life is good enough with number of charger options we have today.
Battery life will probably be a disappointment
Innovation? this thing has a forehead and chin of an iPad first gen, the bezels between both screens are far to wide. The “phone” when closed looks hilarious like a first gen Samsung tab. The only thing good about this device is separate multitasking. I think the only other phone which had a similar style was the ZTE Axon M which was a flop.

I was excited and seriously thinking about buying this phone, but when I found out that a major drawback is that the Surface Duo is not 5G. If your paying over $ 1300, you would think Microsoft would of made them with 5G. What are your thoughts....
The reason being is that they announced the phone a while back so thats why the specs are not as good as today, they didn't have the time to change the processor or even change the whole design. Thats why there's also no 5G for this model.
i think samsung fold 2 is much better
They've said that was a conscious trade-off to get it thin enough to be comfortable while keeping the battery life usable, and I'm fine with that trade-off. 5G would sometimes mean a little less waiting for things to load. The second screen would drastically change how I do everything on the device.
Don’t need 5g, 5g sucks everywhere and is doing worse statistically than 4g lte!
I've had mine 3 days now and love it. I don't mind it not having 5g. I don't call nobody. It's all for entertainment n multi tasking.

What i dont like: The asking price for those underwhelming specs.
Its first gen so hopefully it will drop in price next time. But yeah still overpriced

That price for a new form factor is to recoup the R&D cost...future duo's will either come in at a lower price or will come with better hardware as they adjust from lessons-learned.

Imagine if they produce the moleskin edition which will have that leathery (idk what it is, never even touched one) material on the outside instead of glass. That would be really cool. And leather bumpers for peasants who couldn't buy real moleskin edition

@@brandon_nope because I'm using my pc more than anything else unlike my phone that I only use it for a very small things, so the idea of having a super portable mini laptop with an access to make calls sounds amazing to me. And who can give you the ultimate pc experience more than Microsoft?
I've had mine three days so far. I even purchased the surface Slim pen. Im throughly enjoying it. I still have my iPhone X though. I'm really enjoying the multi screen and having two games or apps. It's also a beautiful device. Pleasing to hold and use daily at work taking quick notes. I get compliments a lot.

I am with you on this. Phones have become boring over the last few years and are all the same. This to me is not a smart phone it's the next generation of portable pc imo. It may not sell in the millions the note sells but I part expect others to follow. This is a business based mobile and personally I like the idea.

We have reached a time where things like phones don't need to be upgraded anymore. What I mean is, the WANT side is overtaking the NEED side of phones. (This is not a claim whatsoever just an opinion)
Aledner_LW I agree with you. Believe me, I am not saying this is cheap by any means. I was just saying that the trend overall for flagship phones is $1,000. In fact I just bought one that was a little over that in May. But seeing this phone, especially for the line of work I do, I can see the value in it.

If thinner phones were bad and thicker phones were good then Energizer's phone wouldn't suck that much
@@resentfulsoulofthetoilet589 Energizer's phone design failed miserably was because of the lack of afterthought about the best usecase scenarios having such a thick phone with 18000 mAH battery. There should have been a usb A to charge other phone, a headphone jack and bigger wattage in stereo speakers.
