I had shoulder surgery 5 months ago and still struggling with frontvof shoulder pain. At home, should I be doing warm-ups like pulleys and shoulder rolls before counter top stretching? Maybe I have over stretched?

If you're 5 months out of surgery (rotator cuff repair?) and don't have full range of motion back yet, that's slower than expected. Usually you should be well beyond countertop stretches by that point. Here are a few videos that may help:
      Frozen shoulder exercises: ruclips.net/video/Qfi5MRtI-9w/видео.html
      Shoulder impingement exercises: ruclips.net/video/_Ub1_LF-TPs/видео.html
*Note: Don't use these in place of your doctor's and physical therapist's advice. These are just some ideas to discuss with your healthcare providers. Good luck!

@More4Life thank you for your reply. Our PT has everyone do countertop stretching prior to everything else. My thought was that it's done first(cold) . I have almost full range but still tenderness

Thank you so much for this video! I could intuitively feel the pulley exercise I was given for my rotator cuff tear wasn’t good. You’ve given me a good fix and a way to describe it in treatment.

omg thank you for simple fix (move the chair!) that answered my concern about relation of pulley point to shoulder with at home use where it is attached to door vs at clinic where it is overhead. Simple game changer!

You're welcome. Often the simplest solutions are the best ones.

Showing 1st what not to do defeats the purpose of how to use the pulley to mobilize the shoulder joint, to be able to reach objects I need from the kitchen cabinets.

Excellent points to avoid injury. 👍
I remember long ago, when my training partner was hitting some serious weight, doing a very odd deltoid exercise. He refused any advice from us in the gym on how dangerous this was. He ended up with a blown out shoulder, requiring surgery. He learned a very painful lesson about exceeding the natural range of motion.
Thank you for your knowledge and experience you share with us all. You are really making a difference here.👍

Good info Dr. Dave! I'm getting some improvement with my shoulders from your video referral. Thank you!
I'm wondering, since I am a side sleeper, could you maybe address shoulder issues as a result of side sleeping or a particular way to better protect shoulders while side sleeping? So far, I reposition my pillows to support my neck and shoulders. Angles perhaps? Thanks again.

Glad it helped. This one is about neck pain, but it should help with shoulder pain as well. ruclips.net/video/oLKTUw5ivOU/видео.html
