The 7.3 Powerstroke, probably Ford's best diesel engine, it may not be the most powerful thing on the planet, but definitely worth it for the durability and longevity.
+Trikster1of4 A lot of it is the fact that it's straight piped no muffler no cat mind has the same exhaust and I love ittends to piss off the neighbors though a little bit but who the hell cares honestly but the 7.3s are no joke they don't die
Oops. Forgot having an opinion on the Internet is frowned upon. Thanks for your opinion on why you think mine is wrong, though. It was very constructive.
Andrea Rustinelli (Accidentally posted on my friend's account before) I never said the turbo was pointless, I said that in my opinion a turbodiesel is unnecessary for an SUV (Again, my opinion, as mentioned above). Sure if you're towing something or mudding or just a diesel person it's fine - not me. Did calling me an idiot make you feel good though? Hope so. Have a nice day.
This always has been, and always will be, one of my favorite vehicles ever made. I want a diesel Excursion so bad. Mark my words, I will have one some day!
this ford is used as a maitainance car here in panama because of the panama canal locks, it's a maintainance car for the railway company, most cars here are japanese
The 7.3 Power Stroke is more commonly known as the T444E, a direct-injected turbocharged diesel V8, when it was introduced in mid-1994. No matter how many Diesel videos that Kyle starts filming, they always put a smile on my face :)
I'm german, and though we build great sportscars and sedans, I agree with you! if it comes to trucks, americans are the number one!! :) what a great truck!!
Keep making your videos as your life changes. You are awesome. whenever I want to see a certain car, I always go to your videos first. you are always accurate with your information too.
This truck reminds me of an SUV my dad traded in for one of the newer Jeep models, 2008 Grand Cherokee, but he fitted SRT-8 shocks, headrest TVs, LED lighting, custom leather seats, sport tires, and reinforced the underside with a solid steel plate to prevent damage to the components. I miss that Jeep.
Love the people who think this truck pollutes any worst then their sedans and such. Diesel exhaust contains noticeably less pollutants than gas motors. Thus why diesels don't require emissions testing.
I'm glad you're filming the 2002 Ford Excursion with the 7.3 Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8. International's best Diesel engine!! It is also called the T444E! :)
Wrong answer. The US alone has THREE BILLION barrels of oil locked up underground. Then we have the Monterey Shale that's another one trillion. How many wells do you think are capped in Alaska? Trillion barrels easily. We have more oil than what we know to do with.
I remember reading one quip stating Ford started with the Explorer, then created the Expedition, followed up with the Excursion, and would no doubt soon release an Excavator.
Now that's one nice rare finding there Kyle. There aren't very many Ford Excursions on the road that are like that any more. In addition, you're review on this vehicle was top notch & keep the great work that you're doing on finding these extremely rare automobiles :) By the way, is there anyway you can find and do a review on the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS Hot Wheels Edition (Respond back to me whenever you get a chance)? - Michael Land
Maybe with that suspension set up. But the Excursion in general are great for towing the boat while hauling the family down to Florida. I know because i owned 1.
Hmmm...good point. Suppose he may be saying that in trying to compensate for the subtraction/addition of options. I would think, however, that the blurb he gets on the particular vehicle he is reviewing (at least the brand new ones) would have exact figures. FYI, curb weight always includes a full tank of fuel.
Only 250hp but with a few simple mods that will make some big jumps. The numbers you wanna be looking at for diesels is the torque and this 7.3L power stroke puts out 550ft-lbs which is huge and epic for towing
Got to remember. It's including just sitting there idling in the average. I've seen them get upwards of 18-20 on the highway which isn't bad considering the size of the vehicle.
Judging by the leaf spring spacers in back (rather than a proper suspension lift), immaculately clean underside and the mudders mounted on chrome wheels, I'm guessing this Excursion was a pavement princess.
Whats going on kyle, I enjoyed this video about the ford excursion, its been my favorite vehicle for a long time. But wat I would like to see is a full in depth look at the gmc explorer express conversion van. Thank in advance
Just so you know Kyle, the 7.3 Diesel V8 is in fact a PowerStroke. You seemed like you weren't considering it a powerstroke because when you mentioned the 6.0 diesel, you exclusively called it a powerstroke. Both engines are powerstroke.
its how hes been since nearly day one. most of us are used to it. and know who it is by that opener alone, also the "without further adoo" etc. were all used to it :) most of the time we have a wtf? when he opens up a video without those lines
Umm.. No rack and pinion steering, Kyle. This had the recirculating ball steering box and drag link linkage. The only thing I don't particularly care for is how high it has been raised. It just makes doing maintenance somewhat difficult... in my opinion.
Explain the similarities between the Datsun 1600, to the MG, or the 240z design compared to the Jaguar e Type, still not convinced? How about the Toyota MR-2 and the Pontiac Fiero or the Mazda Miata styling cues with the Lotus Elan
Oh, my God, I love this truck model. Too bad they do not have them here in Brazil. But even if I had I would not have money to buy one of these. Good video.
I would bet the house that f150 would be worn out pulling my 12k toyhauler in one season going to glamis in winter. Guarntee that trans would be smoked. That excursion the way it sits would drag that f150 around the parking lot in a tugwar
I would drop my 98 k1500 5.7 vortex in a heartbeat for something like this.. I'm actually in search of an 4x4 excursion under $15,000 and under 125k miles. Still trying to decide if getting it with a Lifted kit or a stock? Will be doing Long traveling
Yes, it does look kind of dumb but my guess would be that the previous owner took this vehicle off road. And if you add some ground clearance to this vehicle, they are extremely capable off roaders. Because of the engine tire size and basically this is a F-150 but longer and it could seat a lot more people.
horsepower can be misleading, we have a tractor that is rated 135hp off of the pto yet it can tow 50000lbs of corn without too much trouble, you have to drive one of these to figure it out, the power is astounding, if feels like if you push the throttle any more it would rip through the pavement, i would rate acceleration on these similar to a stock gt mustang with the 4.6l and with a $300 programmer its even faster then one
Actually you're wrong about low teens on the freeway. My dad regularly gets 18 in his 2wd ex. And I've heard from others who get about the same with the 4wd as well. Maybe this particular one gets that mileage, but for the most part they do quite well despite their size and weight.
Because this engine has cast iron heads, the volkswagon V10 most likely is made out of aluminum. I'm not saying it's a bad engine or car, but it isn't made for work. Powerstroke 7.3s are low revving engines in which the torque peaks at about 1500 rpm.
that's so cool, I live in wingate and I never see any youtube videos made around here and I saw the building and i was like "that looks familiar" and then you said Monroe.
The 7.3 Powerstroke, probably Ford's best diesel engine, it may not be the most powerful thing on the planet, but definitely worth it for the durability and longevity.
With a proper tune and a few minor upgrades you would be surprised what the old 7.3 can do.
It’s an international diesel
But it was built for Ford.
That turbo whistle is so badass
Reed Thorndyke I prefer the turbo whistle on one of my schools old bluebird buses
That turbo whistle is so badass

🤣🤣🤣 I see no lies here
Anyone else like the startup of the 7.3? It has a nice burley sound to it.
Same here! Can't beat the sound of a 7.3
+Trikster1of4 A lot of it is the fact that it's straight piped no muffler no cat mind has the same exhaust and I love ittends to piss off the neighbors though a little bit but who the hell cares honestly but the 7.3s are no joke they don't die
Powerstrokin01 lol I know it's straightpiped bro :D
but yeah the 7.3 is impossible to kill
You KNOW that sound across the parking lot. Very distinctive like hearing a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. You'll never mistake the sound.
Never been much of a Ford person but that's pretty impressive. I personally no longer have a use for big diesel trucks, always loved them though.
Pointless? Youre an idiot.
Oops. Forgot having an opinion on the Internet is frowned upon. Thanks for your opinion on why you think mine is wrong, though. It was very constructive.

LeiserGeist diesel need turbo, without it they can't run properly, idiot!

Man, the time FLIES, it's like i watched this video yesterday when it camed out :-)
Excursion are the best ford suv ever seen with awesome engines like the 7.3 and v10 too both of them never died
Did I hear 44 gallon fuel tank?!
Yes you did. 44 Gallons!
Just why?!
Because, the excursion is a HUGE Suv! You can actually cruise 900 Miles I've heard in these monsters! Expensive to fill!
Dang
That One Ford Guy LOL no sorry. I can promise you that truck isnt getting 20MPG. I am guessing 14MPG which gives you a range of 500 miles and change.

Kyle, a few notations The Excursion was based off the Super Duty Line of Trucks platform not just the F-250
Oh boy, i love that turbo whistling ! :O
Straight pipe Powerstrokes (especially the 6.0s) are one of the best sounding vehicles, IMO.
Maybe with that suspension set up. But the Excursion in general are great for towing the boat while hauling the family down to Florida. I know because i owned 1.

Have you not seen the last episode of topgear? We still produce rolls and the bentley in Britain but is owned by the germans
