You know... Sometimes when i'm driving down the highway. And I pass some of these 18 wheelers. I take a second glance at a few of them. And say wow. That's actually a beautiful machine right there. Saw one the other day... Fire truck red, All trimmed up with shiny ass chrome linings all over it. Nice square front. It was a beautiful truck.
El Michoacano this truck in particular was already quite old when it got reviewed on this channel roughly 14 years at least and now this video is going on 8 years old once the New Year comes pray this truck is still on the road things like Macks and peteys and especially the older ones are some of the best semi trucks ever made I mean step aside Volvo Western Star Freightliner and International time to make space for something better though nothing new
Fun little fact about semi trucks! Back in the 70s, semis used to use full leaf spring suspensions for the back end but later on, manufacturers would start to add airbag suspensions to their trucks. Some semis only use 4 airbags integrated with springs but in the modern day, they have 8 airbags for the rear suspension. I think they put airbags on the front axle too. So if you start one of those things in this day in age, you're not only waiting for air pressure to build for the brakes, but also the airbag suspension as well. Although the main benefit to having full airbag suspension is that you can lower your truck to fit different sized trailers.
Great video as always Kyle! My dad's work has a fleet of Visions, though they are dump trucks and not equipped with sleepers. Congrats on the 10K sub mark!
actually theres alot EGR shit on it that modle mack that prevents that, so no its cleaner than u think, and it also brings down the reliability having all that EGR stuff on it
If you could swing by a Kenworth or Peterbilt dealer and do a W900 or a 389 review I think you'd be very impressed at prestige of those trucks Kyle! As for the manual transmission question from an earlier poster, computers aren't smart enough yet to shift for different circumstances like going up and down hills, bad weather, or getting yourself out of a rut you're stuck in. It's just better to do the shifting yourself.
Steven Miller Oh right, had no way of knowing that because it is the first time for me seeing one. Still for the most amount of miles i have seen on a car, this tops it by loads.
***** well I live over in the uk so I don't know what amount of kilometers trucks can reach. I read them in miles and the most I have seen is 217,000 miles. I'm sure I would see more miles if I were to get into the trucking business or something like that.
joshua heywood I've seen an old Volvo for sale with 434k miles on it. My father is a bus driver, and one of their old Scanias have over 800k miles on it. It's all about regular maintainance.
andres valdes "That shit got" 13 gears and it's not as hard as people think it is. Shifting a straight 10, super 10, 13, 15, or 18 isn't much more complicated than a 5 speed in a car. Look on youtube. It's only as hard as you make it out to be.
Primal67060 well half of the gear are basically flicking a swich, but it's still not that hard getting lost in those 7 gears, plus watching it on YT it's not the same that going out doing it yourself.
You have active fault codes. The two buttons on the interior you are talking about are the parking brake knob (yellow) and trailer air supply (red). The red and green tubes you are referring to on the engine are fuel filters, red is primary, green is secondary.
I made a lot of money driving this tractor. Very nice inside with a car-like interior. I had issues with the turbochargers though. They were prone to failure (well in my experience anyway).
Well, they need that amount of gears to get started when pulling tens of thousands of pounds from a dead stop. But it is kinda funny to think it has 13 forward gears. Ya shift it like a normal 5 speed though. Theres a switch that lets you, well 'switch' between the low gears for getting started, and then the high gears for higher speeds, as well as multiple overdrive gears for better fuel economy.
All those old trucks without the DEF system are cheap (for a truck) but can still make an Owner Operator a lot of money (+$80,000 a year). Great video man.
When he showed the keys to this truck, there was a remote with lock, unlock, and panic buttons. Is that remote to this truck, or to some other car and truck? If its to this truck, did he not use it because it didn't work?
Actually primal you can order trucks with them .....my pete came from factory with it lota of trucks come with it now and mack gold dog trucks have it and its only 99$ if you buy it after market aslong you have pw locks
the whole truck and even the rims have been painted :O no wonder why its in great condition for 500,000 kms!.... nonetheless an amazing review!! keep up the great work!
i enjoy listening to the narrator and how he accents and raises pitch at the end of most of his sentences. they teach that in traveling salesman school. but for me... it keeps me focused through the video.
Nice Kyle !! Do more videos of American trucks. I love to see the insides of those beautiful vehicles. Especially if you can get a hold of Optimus Prime (Truck)...LOL!
yup most diesel ignition relies on the compression. it squeezes it to fire. glow plugs if they have em are mainly used to light it off initially then the compression takes over
Do you strap in with those belts on the bed so one driver can sleep while another drives? I never thought of that. Would have loved that for car trips as in a kid so I could stretch out and not get yelled at for taking my belt off.
Had a tanker at the fire department I was on back home that was based on the Mack vision. Loved that truck, had a lot of issues with it though and only 3 people knew how to drive it. It was a little louder because they cut the top of the stack off so we could park it inside the station
Timothy Wells they can, but by the time they hit the million, they're usually falling apart. we've got a bunch at my place that are over a million, and i hate driving them
The only thing that has me curious is the steer axle being so close to the driver seat. I drove a Volvo 670 and it was uncomfortable. The turning radius was excellent, but the comfort was the pits. I hear good things about Macks. I will be driving one soon for a tanker company, so I'm hoping they're as sweet as I hear they are.
Just a tip on air-break never hold down the break when starting with parking break on, not only does it do nothing, but doing so can cause break compounding, basicly do some serious damage if pressed hard enough by mistake... When parking break is off, then yeah its perfectly fine.
Hey Kyle, I'm a big fan of your channel as well as a huge fan of heavy equipment. If you ever get the chance to...I'd like to see the new 2015 Peterbilt 579. Seems like it would be a nice truck. Thanks, just keepe updated.
I didn't like the volvos I had. I had good results with a few pete 387s. Then again, I was driving Volvo 670. I hear the 780s are leaps and bounds above the 670. Thoughts? I also enjoy Peterbilt 388 (haven't been in a 389 or 379 yet)
Next time you start a Mack truck after the oil pressure comes up you have to rev the engine to a minimum of 1200 rpm to kick the alternator in otherwise if you leave it idling it won't charge the batteries. All Macks require you to do that to start the alternator charging going back to when they first had alternators installed.
this Mack is a killing machine! :) and i love the red interior :P ... and the back there is a space for refrigerator? :))))) and the bed is soooooo comfortable :) i like it allot!
I could see the engine is turbo charges, but what is it, v8 or inline 6 cylinder? The drawer cabinet behind the driver seat seems to have been burgled 😁
@yamahonkawazuki not sure why the light was on (it was on before he even started it) but @2:02 you can see on the meter the alternator is putting out just over 12 volts. You forgot to call him out on the seat, which is pneumatic, not hydraulic.
You know... Sometimes when i'm driving down the highway. And I pass some of these 18 wheelers. I take a second glance at a few of them. And say wow. That's actually a beautiful machine right there. I'm pretty sure that was Optimus prime. No doubt about it

i love the way the truck sounds when it starts up
been going through all your reviews again Kyle. Honestly my favourite channel for this! keep it up!
Great video as always Kyle! My dad's work has a fleet of Visions, though they are dump trucks and not equipped with sleepers. Congrats on the 10K sub mark!
Incredible. I had no idea this man reviewed a frickin semi. Of course, he has. This should be no surprise.

Could this one be the first of other big truck videos?

Just to say, a diesel that Stacks, release less fumes and emissions than a gasoline engine.

I am thankful that you are alive and your car videos are in here
jesus christ that is a lot of miles. And yet still runs. Sign of a well looked after/well made truck. Looks good too.
Thats nothing for this truck. These things can go millions of miles.
Steven Miller Oh right, had no way of knowing that because it is the first time for me seeing one. Still for the most amount of miles i have seen on a car, this tops it by loads.
joshua heywood Really? I've seen volvos with 6-700k kilometers on them.

Empty! It means empty!
it means enough gas
When he showed the keys to this truck, there was a remote with lock, unlock, and panic buttons. Is that remote to this truck, or to some other car and truck? If its to this truck, did he not use it because it didn't work?
It's super rare to ever see a remote with a truck and those are aftermarket installs on custom show trucks. Very expensive.

That's nothing to a truck, the miles can last way over a million on big rigs. I drive one for a living.

The seats not hydraulic, its air.
I really like this video that you did Kyle. I would like to see more truck reviews like this on your channel.
seats are not hydraulic. air ride
And u don't need to push in the clutch to start semis either lol
remember that this video is from 2010

Diego Salazar that's... that's... hydraulic

haha only 400 hp but when you see the torque you are like: dats a diesel. fuckin 2000nm
like our sleeper mercedes c270. only 240hp but 700nm torque
2010?? Wow, this is the first time I have seen this video, very original :)
Those seats are air ride seats not hydrolic he should really do some research before doing these

This is... very different than usually we see on your channel.
Also the Bulldog hood ornament is not just an ornament its also the handle in which you grab to pull the hood open
Thanks for making me want one Kyle. A truck with a bed. What more do you want out of a moving car that still works
kyle you should definitely review a peterbilt 379. that would be awesome
@yamahonkawazuki not sure why the light was on (it was on before he even started it) but @2:02 you can see on the meter the alternator is putting out just over 12 volts. You forgot to call him out on the seat, which is pneumatic, not hydraulic.
holy shit! 13 speed! god would i love to shift so many speeds like that! :O
anybody else feel like their n Maximum Overdrive with AC/DC playing?
