+creativecrafterful Thank you so much :) I hope it turns out cute :)
Hi Heather🙋🏼, This is a super cute idea. I think it would be even better if you added a gingerbread man cane to it or maybe some red and/or green glitter to give it more depth. I have been making snow globes since I was a kid. I use to sell them at school and made lots of money making them. I never used mineral oil or any kind of oil for that matter because it's was too thick and didn't have the same movement as water. I use to call what I made genie bottles. I mixed water, aluminum powder, food coloring, and a drop of dish soap. You can substitute mica powder and/or ultra fine glitter for the aluminum powder. The movement shows up best when the water is colored. Please give it a try, it looks super cool when shaken and it may give you all kinds of new ideas. I wonder if that thermal powder would work in one of these? If you try it let me know if it works. Great video! Take care, Dee😊👍
+DeeEll86442 Does the aluminum powder keep it from growing algae? I always worried about the water getting yucky over time.
That's so pretty!!!
So cute. I may just make one for my mom and I before Christmas. c:
Thanks 😊

loveeee it!
+LittleSurprisesYT Thank you :)
Tanks for stopping back by :)
So darn cute Heather. Have you ever tried using a syringe, like the ones found in the children's medicine section, to add the oil? I think it would give you more control over not getting oil on the sides of the bottle and also, because it holds more than the dropper, would probably allow you to fill the bottle all at once. Just a thought. ;0)
+redhotsweetpotatoe That is a great idea. I have some too. Thanks.
son súper lindosss 😆😁😍😍😘😘
+Ernestina Sanchez Barrios Thank you so much :)

+Beatriz Luna Thank you so much!

+ShootingStars AJ Thank you so much
no problem could you supscribe to me?
I love these snow globe-y things! Did you say you bought the glass bottles at Michael's? Thank you for the tutorial!
+R Treasure Box Yes. I did buy them at Micheals. They would probably be far cheaper in bulk online, but since I closed my shop I don't really buy much in bulk anymore.
Cooooooooooooool
Thank you
I LOVE THIS!!! the peppermints look sooooo adorable!!!!!
is there a replacement for the mineral oil?
+Karen Yi People do use water, but in that case you have to add something else too. I can't remember if it was glycerin? It is something to preserve the water.
+Karen Yi baby oil is mineral oil with a little fragrance if that helps
Heather..this is beautiful! You always inspire me..i can't say thanks enough. I am in the caribbean and have to buy from the usa...if you don't mind could you tell me what exactly is the bottle package called so i can look for it on line please.
+Asil Orange I get them from Micheals arts and crafts. I threw away the package : ( next time I stop by the store I will write down the company and name. There are Etsy supply shops that have great bottles though!!!
Heather Wells will take a look. Thanks for replying. Happy New Year!!!
Hi there, thanks for the tutorial. I am having trouble with liquid leaking out of my corks and the liquid inside drying out over time :( I've even gone as far as to coating my corks in a waterproof solution and its still seeping through!! I have tried gluing with PVA and I've tried a silicone glue. The contents in my bottles are usually pva mixed with a bit of oil paint to give it some colour. (I have yet to try mineral oil but I have bought some now!) Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated!!! Thanks in advance. Selena X
Did you ever find something that worked well?
are you going to do another gingerbread house contest? i didnt get to enter it last year
+I live in a crafty world! I started writing the other channels about the collab in July - August. It is a bit too late this year. :(
I do look for instagram photos once a month. When there are enough with the #heatherwells photos, that are inspired by my videos, I will put them in a viewer appreciation video.
Will the mineral oil cause the peppermint clay to bleed red? Does it keep it's color?
+Luvjeordie Studios I did candy corn last year, and it still hasn't bled at all. Red is a crazy color with a lot of pigment though. The canes from last year were 1/2 red, and 1/2 translucent for the red portion. That really helps cut down on the bleeding.
:) Heather
Hi Heather, Is this one for sale anywhere? I know you closed your Etsy shop but I didn't know if you still sold things anywhere else?
+Luvjeordie Studios Sorry about the delay in response. I have three package prize levels on my Patreon account. I send charms in those packages :)

Did you bake your canes after making them? If so, how long did you bake them? I'm interested in making canes, but I'm really new to making them.
+Christine C. Hi Christine, There are a couple instances I don't bake my canes immediately for, but Most of the time I bake my canes. When I need flat slices like this I always bake them. When I need them flexible, I try ti use up the cane within about 72 hours or so.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions. I love, and hate cane work ;) It does really help build your clay making skill.
+Heather Wells Thank you so much! and for the Mineral Oil, will it moisturize the Cork? I'm just worried about mold getting on the cork.
+Christine C. Also, how long do you bake the canes?
I have made a few different bottle charms, with baby oil/mineral oil inside and every time, the oil seems to seep right through the cork. I end up with oil all over my neck (wearing it as a necklace) I always used E6000 glue to glue the cork in, does using jewelry glue stop this from happening?? Or is there something else I am doing wrong haha thanks for any tips!!! -Nicole
+nicole t (KawaiiUniqueBoutique) I had that issue this year, and the corks I used this time seemed a little more porous too. I started coating the coat in translucent liquid sculpey and baking it, to seal the cork (Before using it with the oil). That is working well for me. I made a video showing my sealing it. It is one of my newest videos.

+Heather Wells thanks so much!! that is a really great idea! did you bake the cork separately with the TLS on it? I definitely will have to try that with my Christmas bottle charms this year ^-^
really cute! any particular reason for using mineral oil? thanks 😊
Water evaporates over time, but if you use mineral oil it won't expire or evaporate.
+TheCraftyUnicorn Thank you so much for responding. :) I was unable to get back to comments this week.
+Bel Ban Water can also grow algae too.
yeah, I know about using water and what can happen. the reason I asked about mineral oil is because I had never heard anyone using that. usually you hear glycerin or baby oil, etc. thanks.
I have heard of glycerin before. Baby oil is actually mineral oil with fragrance added :)
mineral oil? where I can find it?
I picked mi e up at cvs
If you don't mind me asking, were did you get your glass bottles and cork. (The ones shown in this vid)
+coolwolfie 101 Michael's craft store
+Fizzy Pop Thank you so much for answering.
+coolwolfie 101 It was Micheals :)
Won't the mineral oil degrade the clay over time and turn it to mush?
+brikhouse22 I used it last year before Halloween, in a candy corn bottle. That one is still perfect, so I know it lasts for more than a year.
+brikhouse22 I will be keeping these and last year's candy corn bottle, to see how time affects it. I did read about a ton of different oils people used, and people from the research I did most people were happy with the mineral oil.
oh ok, cool. good to know.
How do I find your gingerbread man
I am not sure I filmed him. I drew a outine, shank it down on my copier. Cut it out, and laid it on a clay that was rolled out. I used an exacto to cut the clay piece around my cut out . Then I baked him. Once that was done I created a mold.
Danika, I will be heading out to get dinner for the kids. You can ask here or write me. sweetandsavorytrinkets at yahoo.com
