I just learned something about the quality of my sex education. I knew basically everything in the previous episode. I knew virtually none of what was in this episode. Public school fail.
Dito. Except the only reproductive ed we got was about plants. -_- I've been unimpressed with our education system for years. These awesome videos are the frosting on the US-Ed-Sucks cake.
+Emperor Theodor Tronét Your lack of understanding about feminism, the educational system, and the spelling of the word concern make it hard to have a conversation.
***** Feminism is the theory and movement towards equal social, political, and economical between all the sexes. Not women over men. It only uses the prefix "fem" and is generally a movement supported by women because women are currently more oppressed by men (ie have less privilege)
***** Okay, I see the point you are trying to make. But your analogy is definitely flawed. In no way can you replace the nuances of the communism with feminism. Feminism is not like communism at all, as in no point in history has it led to extreme oppression like the ones you have mentioned. No suppression of speech, no labor camps, no violation of basic human rights. At the most extreme are uneducated people on the Internet "man-hating" or whatever. So what lengths that feminists supposedly go to make you so hate the movement? Getting past that, your refutations still don't explain your original comment of "feminist fail". What does that have to do with anything, even if one applies your flawed definition of feminism? When does feminism (as a whole, might I add, not some dumb and uneducated internet troll) oppress or not care about the rights of me?
+Katherine Oung Feminims is increasingly looking like Nazism, it is supressing free speech , it is getting men fired from their jobs for stupid reasons, it is taking away basic human rights from men. Feminism as an ideology seems great on paper, in practice it is no better than any oppressive regime that ever existed.
Thank you. very informative video. I use them to explain my medical condition to other people. It is helpful to have the terms and processes explained so clearly. Kallmann syndrome is where the hormone release by the hypothalamus (GnRH) fails to occur which means puberty does not occur and neither does egg or sperm production.
Having the nuts hang outside might be very smart to control temperature, but for every single other case, it's a terrible design flaw. Especially since they are as sensitive to pain as they are...
They are sensitive to pain in the way they are to punish you for not protecting them. Reproduction is the single most important thing an organism can do.
+Alyssa Sipe Evolutionarily speaking dudes wanna have as many offsprings as possible and female wanna have best quality of mate, don't see how this is relevant but this interaction made me think of that.... Also the russian dude wants babies
While being subscribed to this channel for many years, and having watched courses about various subjects, these (about reproduction) probably are the most useful one that I've watched. Yes, big test tomorrow! Just gotta check with my own notes and I think I'm golden! Thanks Mr. Green!
Thank you crash course, I'm studying a developmental biology module at uni and this is so helpful for learning about the reproductive anatomy, thank you !!!
This is the best I have ever seen this taught, Hank, you even did a better job than my college professor did in college in my course titled Human Sexuality. Bravo! Nerds unite, my inner nerd has been satisfied and my brain is very pleased.
You do amazing work Crash Course! That was a level headed and well delivered lesson on a subject which is more often than not chuckled at or not paid attention to due to it's... unsavory(?) nature. I did have a giggle at the idea that, once again, males take problems and throw thousands of resources at it but females take a longer and more considered approach xD.
So much information never received in school! Just want to thank you guys again for doing this series. It's wonderful and so freaking comprehensive. A huge win for education!
Hey Hank, just wanted to bring it to your attention please correct me if I'm wrong I believe LH does not cause estrogen to be released in females (as you mentioned at 3:46) If anything FSH acts upon the follicle to release estrogen.. and it's the large amounts of estrogen released that allows the LH surge to make the mature follicle ovulate.

the outer genitalia are inportant in a sense that they are way more complex than you make them out to be in these last 2 episodes. the nervouse system dedicated to these 2 parts is so extensively complex that it had its own book.
When you orgasm it releases dopamine and serotonin. Serotonin is what makes "happy" so to speak, and dopamine is released in large amounts when doing certain kinds of drugs. The nerves in your penis are very sensitive. There that's a rough summary of why it feels good.
thank you for that great video! but the corpus luteum actually makes more progesterone than estrogen! estrogen is made mainly in the granulosa cells but yeah since granulosa cells become part of corpus luteum its kind of tricky ...
Weird that organs that support one of the driving forces of life have possibly the worst real estate of the male body. The main body cavity has the ribcage, the brain has the skull, but the testicles get nothing? A guy can edit himself out of the gene pool simply by sitting down the wrong way. It kinda reminds me of how teachers and police officers help hold society together, but aren't paid nearly as much as they should be for doing so.
This was actually perfect timing. We just finished on Mitosis/Meiosis. My teacher after class today: "Tomorrow we'll lighten things up a bit, well talk about sex, and all that good stuff." XD
Any chance of tackling the physical mechanisms and repercussions of transitioning from one physical sex to another, or hormone treatment in general? A frank episode about intersex bodies, along with the different types and causes, would also be appreciated.
+Rauron TLDR: Its impossible to transition from one sex to another with current tex, shallow surgery and fudging up your endocrine system doesnt functionally do anything, except destroying your brain and most of the more sensitive organs and hermaphroditism would be a efficient thing if somehow made functional AND impossible for the person to clone themselves.

+Rauron Yes! I second this suggestion. It's definately smth we need to understand better. Though I get the feeling that in A&P they focus mainly on typical "textbook" development, instead of trying to describe the multitude of possible ways the human body can develop. Kind of like how in their Gov't & Politics series they talk mostly about ideal or theoretical politics. Anyway, would love to see an ep on non-binary sexual anatomy.

what are 2 types of exams men should have done for reproductive health?
and in 10 minutes I learn more about actual reproductive systems than 7 stints of sex ed and multiple biology courses. Thank you, Hank.
Seminiferous tubules > epididymis > vas deferens > prostate gland > ejaculatory gland > urethra > outside world
Thanks
Haha I wrote them down following the video and kept pausing. Wish I looked at this HAHA! Thanks!....
> Vulva >Vagina
Lmfao bruh your name haha
SEVEn UP; Seminiferous Tubules-> Epididymis -> Vas Deferens -> Ejaculatorty Duct -> nothing -> Urethra -> Penis.
I can already tell that this video is going to be nuts.
Ejaculate contains both Fructose, and Citric Acid? So... it's basically *orange juice* on tap then.
Can't quite reach. Can you get that for me bro?
These replies are quite lovely

won't drink orange juice again by seeing this.....
Great job Hank! You have provided more useful information about the reproductive system so far than all my high-school classes combined!

I like how we call them "daughter cells".
It should be called Brother cells. If they have a Y chromosome. Or maybe me and the boys cell.
DPT student here, I needed a refresher on the pathways of the male reproductive system and this was perfect. Thank you!

@6:20 You can see the wave of thought pass through Hank about what it would actually feel like to uncoil the epididymis. I agree Hank. Yuckers.

Having the nuts hang outside might be very smart to control temperature, but for every single other case, it's a terrible design flaw. Especially since they are as sensitive to pain as they are...

Yeah well at least men always have one weakness.

Really wish they explained this in high school. I'm 25, and I'm ashamed to say I didn't know 90% of this.
wait I thought the stork brought us babies wtf
I'd like you to take a moment and reflect on what you just said to me.

Nicksters223 hahah I know about that, I watched something about it on Hanks chanel on why porn is bad
cant help but imagine "lets fuck now, i will make u some babies" in a russian accent xD
Nicksters223 oh god, haha no
Someone had to draw this...
and ohhhhhh man they either had the funniest, or weirdest week of their lives drawing this stuff
Yeah well biology teachers have to draw that on the board each year.

Thank you, Crash Course, for helping me to understand the enigma between my legs.
The beaker fluid shakes violently from Hank's emotive speaking.
At 6:34 there is a description of the vaginal canal as an "alkaline environment". The vaginal canal is acidic with an average pH of 3.8 to 4.5.
And he says this with a straight face
Ryann Weakley oh really is it not practice
Dang
who else thinks this is an awesome video?

+100,000 points for the use of the slide whistle.
The one day I won't be absent from school is the day they start "The reproductive system" in the science curriculum.
u saved me the talk 2 years ago thank God
He talks fast but clear. I'm non english speaker but I understand so thanks so much!
why is the male parts jiggling?
'cause they dangle
It’s realistic
Nice to know that in the reproductive casino of life, I'm the equivalent of the penny slot machines.
+TrueWords A penny slot machine that can shoot out 1500 pennies per second!
great video, very informative! i LOST IT at the slide whistle lmfao
2020 and this is really helpful
You are such a lifesaver for containing all those in such a short video
The sound made at 9:02 is golden!
4:30 - One cell becomes 4 sperm? So, basically sperm are like zerglings! I guess that makes ejaculation the "zerg rush" of the reproductive world.
Lol
This is the best comment Ive read in some time
very glad they included foreskin as it is an essential part of the male anatomy
"The duct of epididymis, which believe or not could be uncoiled to 6 meters, though I don't suggest doing that" --- LOL
Wow this is a whole new world, I actual knew none of this since on my school syllabus you only study the menstrual cycle!
This video should be used in schools
Ya know whats awsome, these videos are used in some school
***** Do they get Sex ED at all?
Oh man, I wish he would've been my school teacher.

LOVE these four-part videos!! They are absolutely helpful in understanding this wide topic. THANK YOU!
me watching this right now is considered studying for my health test tomorrow.. right?
This helped me so much, by saving me from my creepy professor and his weird metaphors. Thank you hank
This is much better than what school teaches me
I agree. A lot of editing must have been done to put these up. I am amazed of crash course can do all of this.
Awesome vid, quick, short, summarized and clear....
This is about twice as detailed as my book, which is usually about as detailed as your videos. (I take biology) :>
Looking forward to the outtakes on this episode :)

wow, it makes me feel so proud to have one of these :)
It's hilarious, you can see when he has a long complicated part to say, and he's trying so hard not to screw up. 7:52
i hv literally watched every cc video m obsessesd
what would we do without Hank
lol
How does this make more sense than the one shown in school, where they speak slower?
Body temperature is more damaging than a kick in the balls?
I disagree.
Stop being a nerd
@@TheMightyBharj bro a kick in the balls hurt af
@@getdriftz5793 Yes, but if the body temperature were too hot the human race would never be able to reproduce properly...

1:16 THE MITOCHONDRIA IS THE POWERHOUSE OF THE CELL

'Hey baby, wanna play the penny-slots?'
Your channel really helps me as a teacher. I'm a fan of your channel.
I think I learned something useful here. Thanks, for this video.
I finally got that Ghostbusters joke.

It secretes both
thank you for that great video! but the corpus luteum actually makes more progesterone than estrogen! estrogen is made mainly in the granulosa cells but yeah since granulosa cells become part of corpus luteum its kind of tricky ...
"The penny slots" just killed me XD
Thank you! This seriously helped with my Bio final!(especially since we had to know where each gland and tube was)

What are the two hormones that are secreted the most during puberty? Why are they important?
This is so fabulous and informative!
