OMG! NOBODY ever reacts to Uriah Heep! I thought only guys like me recalled them! This whole album, "Demons And Wizards" is excellent! Thanks for reacting to this!
You are not alone, little recognition now, but a blast in the Seventies ✌️
First band I saw live aged 15. With this lineup. ADORE THEM..
Saw them live 1977 in Detroit
I've seen a good half dozen reactors check them out. NicknLex(Salisbury blew Nick's mind!), Wilburn, Silas Bailey, JustJP...
You aren't the only one, and I am not a guy! This was my favorite band at one time. I threw out my old 8-tracks a few years ago -- all my Heep went in the trash!😢
I recommend "Stealin'", "The Magicians Birthday", "Easy Living" and "Lady In Black" by Uriah Heep. They had two albums back to back that I dearly love "Demons and Wizards" and "The Magicians Birthday". I love their other albums as well, but these two are my favorites,
Easy Living -Yeah!
Rain is one of my favourites. But I love it all.
THAT ^^^^^^
STEALIN
No " Tears in my Eyes"?
That whole album is good!!
it is. 15 when I first heard it. at a friends house, in a basement, he was in viet nam, his older brother, was his records ,vinyl they were. we didnt even sing. just listened.
Absolutely!
Oh my goodness! I’m so glad you got to Uriah Heep. So glad because they are such a deep, complex band and as good as any classic rock band out there.
Whaaaaaaaa... No use of the word "underrated"... Thank you so very much...
@@Wolverines77 lol…yeah. But I do think that Uriah Heep sort of teeter tottered between popularity and an underground band
Been listening to this forever! So glad they heard it. The message. Cool.
OMG...! Uriah Heep was a popular band, 1970-1976... Great song... Taking me back to my youth.... David Byron, great great singer...
They always had great singers, Ken Hensley RIP sang on alot of tracks, John Lawton RIP was also really good, Pete Goalby was good on the early to mid 80s albums and Bernie Shaw has been there since 86 and still going strong...great band.
Takes me back to my army days. We had not much to do but listen to music and prepare for war. I seen Uriah Heep twice in the same week, first in Germany, and then in Philadelphia! Those were the days……….
Never forget the Heep's first album... "Come Away Melinda" still makes me cry...
' Salisbury and July morning ' are just a couple of great songs by this criminally underrated band
Salisbury is truly Epic on every level. July Morning is great as well. Spectacular choices!! Look at Yourself is a great tune as well I'd like to also suggest.
How about "Is Anybody Gonna Help Me?"
Remember being stoned out of my mind in a friend's dorm room, and thinking this song explained everything!!! Then, I had to drive home.
My fav Uriah Heep song is Circle of Hands, their hits included July Morning and Easy Living and Stealin'
All great…especially July Morning!
You said it right, plus Gypsy and Look At Yourself, specially the fantastic Live album 1973 with all these tracks (ex. Stealin)!
Especially the live version. David Byron's voice is killer.
LADY IN BLACK!! That is probably their best song. Amazing songwriting and storytelling. I also love the song Gypsy! Heavy rockin'!
Gypsy is my favourite!
@theheepster.....so nice to see your suggestion for Look At Yourself.. such an impressive track to introduce on a reaction vid..deserves to be showcased 💯 Lesser known but def a cool album to explore!
Per my cousin's suggestion, I went to see Uriah Heep in 1978. I loved the whole concert, but Lady in Black is the song that really captured me. I went on to buy all their albums and see the in concert 3 more times.
I Highly recommend.. " Come away Melinda" It's about a little girl who lost her mother in the war. Sad. It shows a different side of Uriah Heep. It's a beautiful ballad. with violins.
This was the iconic lineup. Hensley, Thain, Byron, Box, .Kerslake
Fantastic reaction. Thank You very Much for this...The legendary Uriah Heep all excellent musicians with the great vocals of David Byron.
Peace and love Uriah heap❤❤
Hey guys! Uriah Heep is in their 53rd year. Still recording and touring. You have been missing out big time! I have seen them live a number of times, as recent as 2019. They just put out a new album in 2023 called "Chaos and Colour". It is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Amen to that. I believe there is only one original member left, but most have been together for years and they are just as good live, as they are in recordings. They remain true to their original sound. The lead singer now, is Canadian.
Echo that Mark - the last 4 or 5 new releases have been just ridiculously good.
Heep were always regarded by the snobby music press at the time, hello New Musical Express! as second division British rock.
The reality was that they were one of the best British bands live at the time.
Very underrated “Demons….” is a blinding record top to bottom.
Fantastic classic british prog rock band! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸❤️
Demons And Wizard are just the best. Every song are a classic. Still hold up today and it's from 1972. Guitarist Mick Box are the last man standing. Bass player Gary Thain died in 1975. Vocalist David Byron in 1985, Drummer Lee Kerslake and keyboard player Ken Hensley both died in 2020. This version of Uriah Heep were phenomenal. David Byron had one of the best voices. Uriah Heep were well known for their vocal harmonies
Saw Uriah Heep back in 1972 at the Cowtown Ballroom in KCMO! Haven’t heard this in years!
Easy Living is absolutely a must to get the full Uriah Heep experience.
YEESSSSS. The Heep. Stealin will blow you away.
Yes, this is a group and they took their name from a Charles Dickens' character! "Lady In Black" has a wonderful message!
Stealin’ needs to be your next reaction. Absolutely!
Saw them live several times; one of my favorite bands!
Back in the early mid seventies, Uriah Heep was huge. They averaged $ 30000 a show. The magicians birthday was an excellent album.
I saw Uriah Heep Live in Martini Hall Groningen in 1983. Best I have ever seen... never forget it !!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t click on the video fast enough when I saw you guys were reacting to Uriah Heep. They’re such an amazing band, and it amazes me how many people have never heard of them. Please react to some more Uriah Heep very soon. Gypsy, Easy Livin’, Stealin’, Sweet Lorraine and The Magician’s Birthday are just a few of their amazing songs.
The band Uriah Heep took their name from the Charles Dickens novel "David Copperfield".
Top props for pulling out this banger from this lesser known great band.
A classic British rock band 🎸 so many hits to choose from enjoy Stealin , Easy living to name a few ✌🏻
I suggest "Circle of Hands" and "Lady in Black"
"We must sacrifice, the future has it's price
And today is only yesterdays tomorrow....."
"Stealin'" is a great one by Uriah Heep. You should try it.
Saw them in '73 in Germany. After the concert, BILD Magazine ( a German tabloid) said of Uriah Heep;
"Uriah Heep comes at you like a Panzer tank...doing 90!". A very accurate assessment....
You must hear Look At Yourself and Tears In My Eyes. Both from the album Look At Yourself. I grewup with that album. Roger Dean did a bunch of their covers. Just like YES and Asia.
I saw Uriah Heep in concert. A very surreal experience to say the least. I hadn't thought about them for a very long time. Thanks for playing this.
Uriah Heep - July Morning
Uriah Heep - The Park
❤️✌️
WOW!!! THANKS FOR YOUR REACTION!
Yep. Demons and Wizards and Magician's Birthday are 2 albums that never get old.
GOD, I LOVED this band back in college in the 70's.
Uriah Heep is a character in Dickens’ book David Copperfield. For Jay.
Great band and way underrated!
One of my FAVORITE SONGS (BAND) OF ALL TIME... Beautiful lyrics, sound and music, ... EVER ❤
Wow! Glad you happened on this one! It's been coming up because we've been hoping for some new bands/artists! Don't miss out on "Easy Livin" and "Stealin".
You've gotta hear "Magicians Birthday". Epic song!
Uriah Heep live “ Tears in my eyes”
Uriah Heep could rock their asses off, then touch your heart.
I grew up on this band nice to see "The Wizard" here.🧙🏻♂
Well, you might as well do "Stealing", "Easy Livin'", "Circle Of Hands", "Poet's Justice", "Traveler In Time" and "Lady In Black". Most people always seem to go with "July Morning" but it's kinda long, maybe that won't matter to you though. This was just fantastic, glad to see you guys reacting to them.
Uriah Heep was the first concert I ever went to. I was 15 and we were sitting 1st row at the Fox Theater in St. Louis and I was just blown away at how powerful they were. I recommend Stealin as your next one to react to.
'The Wizard's teachings' influenced a whole lot of people back in the day.
This became a fav song the first time I heard it, and I bought the album (Demons & Wizards) the next day.
🎹🎹🎹 🎸🎸
I've been suggesting uriah heep for a long time. I'm glad you finally got to them and hope you explore them more.❤❤❤❤❤😊
This band was famous for their powerful vocals.
Freddy Mercury and Brian May singled out Heep’s signature stacked vocal harmonies as having influenced Queen’s approach. Some other notable bands they've influenced are Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, the latter's Rick savage praised Heep for their ability to temper their heaviness with melody.
@@bookhouseboy280 Even The Sweet were influenced by UH!!
Love Uriah Heep , used to listen to them all the time
A few straight-ahead bangers by Uriah Heep: Stealin', Easy Living, Sweet Lorraine.
What a great great band. Keep going down that rabbit hole. Stealin is a great song you should do next
Love that song...also "Easy Living"...and "July Morning" are my favorites 👍
So happy
I got to see them in concert
On top of the deep/substantial music Uriah Heep represented, you get superior vocals. This band was all about fantasy…their lyrical content
My son who's now 30 years old, was just starting to read Harry Potter when I introduced him to this track. He has been an old-time rock and roll fan ever since
This is one fantastic album. They are named after a character from the David Copperfield novel. Also you have to listen to the words. Everyone should be listening to this.
These and deep purple used to practise in the same studio back in the day ,the building must have been rocking
Uriah Heep is a lot like Status Quo. A great pop sensibility while being heavy as hell.
Saw them.twice 73& 77..amazing love the end of wizards and demons..amaz band.. underrated,
Stealin' and Easy Livin' are 2 of their best!
“She came to me one morning, one lonely Sunday morning. Her long hair flowing in the midwinter wind.”
When you hear these opening lyrics to “the lady in black” you are immediately captured by the words and the way they are sung.
And that is only the beginning of this beautiful song, with a chorus you will never get out of your head!
Uriah Heep was the name of a character from Charles Dickens book David Copperfield
One of my 4 fav bands of all time.
This whole album is very cool...
The Gypsy - Stealin - and Easy Livin 3 more from the Heep
Late 60's early 70's had so many good rock bands.
Greetings from Scotland. Absolute respect that not only are you aware of prog rock but you're going to go down that rabbit hole. Total respect. Love ya!
greetings from America!....my son's mother and whole family are from Scotland.... I think the town is Cambletown (sp?) .....baby momma lived there till she was 5...she lost her accent but her mom amd grandma never lost the accent and I love to hear it!
One of the best things about Uriah Heep is they can rock your socks off & the next song has such a beautiful sound. July morning to Rain. Easy livin to Come away Melinda to a masterpiece with orchestration like Salisbury. Ken Hensley was a great writer, we lost too soon. He'd found love with his new Spanish bride. Living in Spain & starting my own music career there, back in 75. I saw Uriah Heep live with John Wetton from Asia on bass. Great concert. General admission but with the Guadia Civil at the doors in their long black leather capes with submachine guns, it was orderly & peaceful. But still had that funky smell in the air, like my first rock concert in Little Rock Dr John & the Allman brothers before Duane's tragic death. Wetton did a bass solo that blew all of us away. Saw it with 3 other musicians & my sister. Prior to Byron's exit due to his alcoholic issues surfaced. Great band!
First heard this song as a young teenager back in the 70s. Still love the tune and the words, simple but meaningful.
Happy you all finally played some Uriah Heep, next Easy Living.
„Easy Living“ and „Lady In Black“, both very different songs, but equally epic!
Admittedly, my favorite Heep song. This is one of several Uriah Heep songs we covered in our first real band. Great band.
Saw them live with Deep Purple and Tower of Power...great concert!!😍😍😍😍😍😎😎😎
this one and 'Stealing' are my favorites, great band, saw them in concert in mid 70's This was certainly meant to enhance anyone on an LSD trip, I was in my 20's in the 70's and tripping was a thing
Easy Livin' is a must!
Stealin', Sweet Lorraine, and The Magician's Birthday are all killers
Just a note: everything was trippy in the 70s and this song is a pretty good example of that.
1971. Baltimore Civic Center. Uriah Heep was the headliner. Tickets were $10. 3 bands on the marquee. First band out....ZZ Top. Second up....Earth, Wind and Fire. Then Heep. Great concert! One of my fav bands.
They are phenomenal! And the art work on their covers are indescribable! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
How I wish I still had my Uriah HEEP albums.
The great Roger Dean.
URIAH HEEP - FALLEN ANGEL Later 70s New Lead Vocalist Newer Sound Absolutely Rockin' from Beginning to End
WE WERE SO HAPPY TO SEE THAT YOU WERE DOING A URIAH HEEP SONG. LIKE ANOTHER, I RECOMMEND THE SONGS "STEALIN'" AND "EASY LIVING" ... BUT ... THERE ARE SO MANY VERY INCREDIBLE SONGS BY URIAH HEEP. YOU WILL VERY MUCH HAVE A BLAST GOING THROUGH ANY OF THEM. THEY ARE A FANTASTIC BAND!!!
July Morning has been one of my favorites since 71
Uriah Heep has been one of my favorite bands since I first heard them in 1972, and it was this song. This year they are celebrating 53 years. The released their 25th studio album in January, Chaos and Color. Great album. With 53 years of music, you will have plenty of reaction videos.
FINALLY Uriah Heep, my favorite band in the early 70's and , by far, the best live concert I've ever attended. If you like story telling along with great instrumentals, please consider their songs Pilgrim and Stealin. I know you'll love them and this band will definitely grow on you.
My Sister had this Uriah Heep album. I would play this song all the time. Jay and Amber You would love the song "Easy Living" by Uriah Heep.
You two could teach a class on latter twentieth century popular music! I've watched (and listened to) you for over a year and the depth of what you've learned is amazing. When you hear a new band you immediately identify the genre and name 2 or 3 related or preceding bands within the same style, and you get it right! lol! I also really enjoy each of your distinctive ways of experiencing the music. Jay seems to immediately parse the music and put a name to everything, whereas Amber just feels it and absorbs it, saving the analysis for later. You two go well together. ;)
WOOHOO! ❣️ LOVE THESE GUYS. SAW THEM IN 75! THANKS!!! PLEASE DO MORE...
Oh, Uriah Heep... "July Morning" and "Lady in Black"... epic songs.
Oh yeah love me some Uriah Heep! Way to go guys! Thanks 🙏
A little known classic, "The Park", soooooo sweet.
Oh YES! Uriah Heep! I skimmed through the comments and saw a lot of others recommending "Lady In Black". This band has a lot of underrated classics.
Uriah Heep is a band. The name comes from a character in the novel David Copperfield. The band's commercial peak was in the early to mid 70s. Lots of great tunes by these guys. The epic July Morning, the blistering Gypsy, the beautiful The Park and the rocking, intense Look At Yourself. These guys could do it all.
Stealin is a great song from this band.
This whole album is their masterpiece. Epic.
Demons and Wizards: such an Iconic Album
The Whole Album is Phenomenal. A concept album to be listened to in its entirety.
"Why don't we *listen* to the voices in our hearts? 'Cause then I know we'd find we're *not* so far apart." Good advice. Especially today.
Uriah Heep were formed in England in 1967 and debuted in 1970 as a heavy rock band... In fact, Rush's first tour in 1974 was opening for Uriah Heep, who were enjoying a commercial peak in the 70's. But Uriah Heep were plagued w/ personnel problems and tragedy... Their original lead singer David Byron (seen here in the video) was fired in 1976 for alcohol abuse... he passed away in 1985 at age 38 from alcohol-related health issues... Their key songwriter Ken Hensley left Uriah Heep in 1980 and worked intermittently in music until his death in 2020... Their longtime drummer Lee Kerslake played on the first 2 Ozzy Osbourne records, but he ended up suing Ozzy for royalties. Kerslake's health declined and he was forced to retire and passed away in 2020... a truly remarkable drummer.
Uriah Heep was formed by Mick Box (lead guitar), the only original member left today... w/ Ken Hensley (organ/ keys/ guitar/ piano), David Byron (lead vocals), Paul Newton (bass) ... they scored a successful single 'Gypsy' from their debut album "Very 'eavy, very 'umble" (The character of Uriah Heep was a creep from the Charles Dickens novel 'David Copperfield'... he spoke like " I ate 'umble pie with an appetite.")
It was Uriah Heep's 2nd album 'Salisbury' that got the band some success in 1971... 3rd album 'Look at yourself' (1971) was a success in Japan... The band hit US commercial success in 1972 w/ Lee Kerslake (drums) joining and Gary Thain (bass) replacing Paul Newton... 2 albums - 'Demons & wizards' and "The Magician's birthday" both went gold in the US... followed by 'Sweet freedom' (1973) which also sold gold... Uriah Heep scored hit singles like "Easy livin' "... "Stealin' "... "Rain"... "Sweet Lorraine"... 🔥🤘
However, the next few albums did not do as well... 'Wonderworld' (1974)... 'Return to fantasy' (1975)... "High and mighty" (1976)
After David Byron was fired in 1976, Uriah Heep carried on w/ John Lawton (lead vocals) and released 'Firefly' and 'Innocent victim' in 1977 (Trevor Bolder had already joined on bass)... but neither record did as well... After their 1978 album 'Fallen angel'... John Lawton was fired.
Uriah Heep's 1980 album 'Conquest' w/ John Sloman (lead vocals) was a failure and never even released in the US... founding Ken Hensley left the band.
In 1982, Uriah Heep regrouped w/ Pete Goalby (lead vocals), Mick Box (guitar), Lee Kerslake (drums), Bob Daisley (bass), John Sinclair (keyboards) for the 'Abominog' album... Trevor Bolder (bass) rejoined Uriah Heep by 1984 and was w/ the band until his death in 2013. But the band's commercial appeal was flatlining... They still persisted making records and touring into the 90's and 2000's.
In 1986, Canadian singer Bernie Shaw joined Uriah Heep as the vocalist, and is w/ them today... he debuted on their 1989 album 'Raging silence' w/ Phil Lanzon (keyboards) who is also a current member of Uriah Heep w/ Mick Box (lead guitar).
Russell Gilbrook (drums) replaced the ailing Lee Kerslake in 2007... Dave Rimmer (bass) replaced the late Trevor Bolder in 2013.
To date, Uriah Heep have released 25 studio albums and still tour actively today, their latest being 'Chaos and colour' in 2023, charting decently in the US and UK.
I have suggested this song for at least a year to almost every single person doing a reaction to music that I have watched. Thank you for finally getting to it.
Easy Living and Stealin are two of their best! You can hear how they influenced bands that came later! Great choice!
"The Magicians Birthday" is a song you have to experience
This song brings back a lot of memories as a teen!
URIAH HEEP - That's The Way That It Is . New Style New Lead Vocalist 1980s Heavy Rock Sound yet very Creative and Electrifying sounds that make this band a true masters of Awsome 🎸🎹🎶🎵 Rock N Roll
