It's important for prospective purchasers to understand that the battery module does NOT have additional microphones. Unless you purchase the screen module, you only get mono sound from the mic on the camera module itself. This is a significant difference, as the surround sound and associated options you get from the screen module is one of the key features of the device, if you care about the audio quality of your videos. The Action 2's audio features are class-leading - but you do need the screen module to enable all of them.
just used the action 2 for a recent MTB race, and those stand alone mic's SUCK. and its worse that i cant use the screen add-on unless i want to double the size and have it stick out much further.. so much mind noise before i made my own windscreen too. i hate that they made this to HEAVILY rely on the additional screen instead of be its own stand alone action camera.

@@The_GreenMachine yes, the mics should be in the camera module.
But that's the price that comes with this more flexible camera.
Otherwise the go pro might be more suitable.
Is it possible to connect to a DJ mixer for better sound quality to Livestream?
@@lordbyrondj You would use a special attenuator cable connecting the mixer to a USB-C microphone adapter.

Let me know how you make out. If you’re going to be recording on a tripod I would disable stabilization that will help prevent it from overheating as quickly. You don’t really need stabilization when mounted on a tripod

For what I do. I need to monitor the video and from the phone app while recording video. Does this camera do that? With my Gopro cameras I could do that up to version 8 but the new ones won't let me do that. I have made a special case for the Gopro to withstand the harsh environment I record in, their standard plastic cases wont hold up. This camera would be even easier to do that but I need to monitor and control the camera over the WiFi to say a I-Pad or phone. When I first purchased a Gopro 9 I didn't realize that they disabled this function. This more or less made it useless for that type of video recording. I was thinking I could switch to this camera if it can do that.

Thanks for the great overview I have a question about the front facing screen module can you transfer the files from the camera to the micro sd card using the front facing screen module? Reason I ask is I have already broken my screen on the action 2 camera and had some trouble transferring the files via the app.
Yes indeed that front facing screen is full touch capable and an exact replica of the back screen. So you can do everything with it as you can on the back

Hi can you have the camera modular with the second screen and the extra battery modular all 3 connected to each other at the same time
What is a Feld of View in Horizon Stedy 2.7p res ? Does it stay's with ultra Wide?
Does it have loop mode function like gopro did?
It's worth noting that unless you get the screen mount there's no speaker for playback.
Also batteries are not hot swappable if recording to SD card as you have to stop recording, swap the base and the SD Card and then start recording again.

As a newby I am thankful for this video!! One thing, I have the camera and the additional screen. If I swipe to FOV I have only two options: Standard (Dewarp) and Wide. There is no ULTRAWIDE !? Any idea? Thanks!

Great guide! How far away will the voice commands work? I need to be able to start the camera from 6 feet away - the front of my fishing kayak. Not having to use a remote would be nice.
Just scream at it from 6 feet away and it might pay attention to you 😅😂

Great channel Man! Unfortunately I just scooped the Action 2 and for some reason I can't figure out why the option to change my FOV is not available. It actually just shows up in all grey with no options for anything else..I'm wondering if this is a bad unit.
Change the quality of video and fps , prolly that's the issue you're facing.

Will using the polariser lens on non reflective areas have the same result as using the normal Nd filters? I have only budget to get one set.
Polariser is not ND. It is taking some light out but it's purpose is different.

I got my A2 power combo. I fale of using 3 times power ON registration. Now camera locked. I have old phone "e5 play Moto" what is not on a new App list. Phone sees camera over BlueTooth connected list........ Can you make a video on that subject? "When Action-2" locked
Thank you Sir for Informative video. I've got my TRIPLTEK tablet for a drone, at same time made Mimo App installed to a TRIPLTEK works just Fine with Action-2. So I do confirm my smart-phone "5e play Moto" is not on an JDI Mimo list, so folks pay attention if you'r phone NOT listed

No, it can't be connected with three modules.
Can the screen part be turned around? I want to vlog outside and dont want people to see the screen. I want that part to be facing my shirt if im making sense.

1) let's assume i am using ulanzi cage, so with battery module i have 2 type-c's. Can i make it permanent dc from ulanzi baze, AND have external mic from battery type c, simultaneously?
2) Is there smth like "splitter from 3.5 jack to type-c"? I have motorcycle intercom, it has 3.5 jack for headphones and mic, I want to transfer all my sound from intercom to headphones AND action2 simultaneously, what should i do?

I noticed your rotating banner...below the 4k/16:9 setting when doing the video options that is says it will approximately record at about 11 minutes..mine says 6 minutes..any ideas why that would be?
I’m not sure perhaps a different size memory card than what you’re using? FPS can affect recording length as well.

The Camera itself and quality is really good……BUT
It FELL OFF from the magnetic Lanyard from just moderate activity of riding a bicycle.
And with such incredible luck… it FELL exactly when I was crossing a small wooden bridge and right into the river water 😭😭😭
So, now I still have the front camera module and all the other accessories. So should I sell those parts or maybe wait for a sale and get another…. Unfortunately, they don’t just sell the camera unit itself. Also, I am not sure if I have the confident in it anymore.
It branded as an action camera and the magnetic lanyard function was one of the driving feature which attracted me for the purchase.
If it cannot handle the role of an action camera, they should put a big disclaimer saying the magnetic lanyard CAN ONLY BE USE for slowly walking and have a high chance of falling off with activities!! So I am pretty about that and how DJI advertise it as an action camera and with footage of its use with the lanyard being able to handle rigorous activities.
Anyway, perhaps I should just sell the Dual Screen module and get a GoPro instead.
As I said early on, the camera quality is very good but don’t rely on it as an action camera. DJI should take out that lanyard magnetic option to help others avoid the loss that I experienced with just moderate activities.
Hey, I’m planning on buying a gopro hero 10 in marsh, should I do that or wait for the hero 11.
Personally I would grab the 10 The hero 11 will slightly will not be released till end of September early October So you’re gonna miss out on a lot of shooting with it if you wait

If you connected to the app, it’ll prompt you right away if there is a Firmware available

great hands on review. you've killed the dji action 2 for me. I don't know what DJI was thinking, requiring a module connection for more than 32Gb ? the storage and battery life is way too low for 2022 action cams. guess i'll keep using my old sessions for a little longer :-(

Would this camera give a clear HDMI output? if i were to say use it as a streamer camera?
You can use the camera as a webcam but you might find a problem with it overheating while it is stationary.
can i make the second screen off while not in use like motovlogging or normal shooting ?
Yes you can disable it in the settings

Mine is overheating while charging and I'm unable to access files on my pc when I connect the cam.... I'm returning the product... I think I got a faulty one

I think the manual says not to put both modules on the chest mount. Only the camera. It could be too heavy with both and could fall off. Just bought a second hand unit yesterday.

Yes it is
one thing I noticed... you can't actually switch battery while shooting...

Good video but It’s not an action camera is it, I’m so glad i didn’t buy one. I had it in the shopping bracket yesterday but did look at the reviews.
Don't forget to mention that even though this video has been out for 11 mths, dji STIILL HAS NOT released an update to allow this camera to pair with Samsung Galaxy s22 (any version). If you call customer service (I spoke to 4 people and online troubleshoot with 3 people) you will probably get a similar response " you can either pair and use it with an iPhone or you can return it." Seriously? The s22 has been out for almost a year. Unacceptable, and I wish I would have known that before watching any videos on how "great" it is
NONE of this matters if you cant activate the camera. U are locked out. The Mimo App for Action 2 dont work. NONE of the versions. Chinese products! Wow, what are they thinking??? Why lock the buyer out?
The only video of DJI Action 2 I watched that never mentioned a single word about the serious and disruptive overheating problem, and the limitation of 4K or even 1080 at 60FPS.... It stops recording after 6 to 10 minutes because of the overheating... This device is absolute garbage...
When I first unboxed the device and turned it on, the first thing I noticed was the insane overheating problem. You cannot even hold it in hand. Paid promoting huhhh??? DISLIKE

Tutorials/guides aren't reviews - and jumping immediately to paid promoting conspiracy theory is downright silly.
You need to make a timeline list, you expect people to watch 24 minutes video without knowing what you are going to say?
