    I've just put a deposit down on a CB750 Hornet. It's a workhorse bike for me so I've ordered through the dealer a hugger, fender extender, screen, crash bungs, bar ends, rack and top box and negotiated with the dealer to fit everything for "free".

    I'm very much interested in getting a GT PRO/Explorer next year and this gives me much joy to see that mounting the Zumo is doable with the bike (I mean I knew it's doable but the videos I've seen so far are either hazy on specifics of the mounting or just plain ugly with cables running outside of the bike's plastics, just disgusting IMO), so thank you VERY much for this one, I'm eager to see more on the Tiger from you sir! Subbed and cheers from Poland!

    Good job, I must admit I wasn’t as thorough with wires, used a coat hanger wire to pull a two core through the frame and tucked the small transformer behind the rubber boot thing under the head stock, I found the zumo xt a bit Shakey up there might need to get that bracket you bought, thanks for the links 👍

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  11 месяцев назад +1

      The shaking can't really be avoided, mounting it to the screen bracket. Mounting it to the bars or the bar clamp is another option, but then you limit your options for using a tank bag, and as it stand only a limited few of my SWMOTECH tanks will fit on this bike.

    That channel logo is the business 👌🏾. Have nearly the same NAV set up, down to the bar from Greece - shipped to the states.
    Held off purchasing that TT lock. Just wasn’t inclined to leaving my Nav on the bike at all. I have a moto pump “locking plate mount” locking used loosely😅. I remove the Zumo when I am leaving the bike. It’s a pain.
    Will pick up the TT mount over winter and try and catch it on sale. Great wiring job. I had the upper CB’s installed so I didn’t go through the trouble of removing them to be able to remove the panels etc. But it is pretty clean. Thoughts on why the lack of power to the under seat charger, and back on in the morning?
    I always wanted to use that for my Nav as well. Let us know what you find!
    Cheers.

      No idea why the socket now works, I can't imagine the sav nat overloaded it, as they don't draw much power at all. I'll probably keep it the way I have untill I ever need the extra port. The thunderbox will also cut the power is something overloads so you won't even blow a fuse that way.

    So, I'm about to go down this route but would also like to connect the 12v socket (next to the TFT) to the thunderbox. Guess that means a bit of wire cutting to begin with.. But since being an electrical idiot, you wouldn't happen to know whether I should get the TB-U02 or if the 01 is adequate? Cheers!

    Nice work mate & liking the new Rally Pro!
    Fella I remember watching one of your vids a long time back, with the Super Duke R, and I was super impressed with the way you had your ZumoXT mounted above your left hand on the handlebars & I've been trying my damnedest to figure out how you pulled it off & using what equipment to do so! I've got the same gen 3 SDR & a 1290 SAS and I invested in a ZumoXT a while back now but not gotten round to fitting the cradles to both bikes such that I can attach the Zumo to them. Did you use any specific mounts for your awesome Garmin positioning on your old SDR? I'm certainly interested in copying your solution as it makes the most sense for the SDR, I'm also wanting to attach a cradle to my SAS but that is relatively easy as I already have a bar above the dash to position it, I just need the cradles... in your experience are the Garmin connectors that the ZumoXT attaches to via the square on the back of the device sufficiently sturdy & robust enough to maintain a secure hold of the device while riding? I don't know why but I look at the connector square on the rear of the Zumo and can't help but doubt it's ability to remain affixed while riding, both in the direct wind blast on the SDR & over the fire road style unevenness of roads & forest trails on the SAS!
    All the best with your new Triumph pal, it's a proper bit of kit, I was thoroughly impressed with it when I took one for a test ride at my local dealer here in Spain!
    Cheers 🍻

      Hi
      Thanks for your question! I use RAM mounts (you can find them on ebay and Amazon) you'll need three parts! A RAM ball joint that I screwed into the mirror stem, a RAM arm, and a RAM garmin mounting plate (which also has a ball joint on the back. It's a bit hard to explain but it will become apparent once you've found them online. It's the same system that I use to mount my camera on the handlebars.

    • @foxtrot.tango.whisky
      @foxtrot.tango.whisky 11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the reply mate... So RAM themselves make a Garmin ZumoXT connector that allows you to just snap the Zumo on using the square attachment on the rear of the device (and it provides power too, the RAM connector)?
      Your idea on the SDR to screw it into the hole where the OEM mirrors attach is bloody brilliant, that never even occurred to me and I have bar-end mirrors too so I wouldn't even need to sacrifice a mirror to implement that trick 👌
      I'm still somewhat confused though, if the RAM kit provides secure, power-delivering mounting connections that simply connect to the ZumoXT via the same, square click-connect that Garmin uses, then what is the deal with the "cradle" implementation that you've gone with on the new Triumph? Actually, come to think of it I am seeing a fair few people lately using the same bulky-edged, clamp-style cradle and I'm wondering if perhaps that system is specific to the newer ZumoXT 2? Wow, it's kinda ridiculous how far off the mark I am with this! No wonder my ZumoXT is still in its box having never even been switched on, let alone used on a bike trip... pretty embarrassing really! 🫣
      Sorry to be persistently dropping essay-length questions too mate, and disguising them as comments hahaha... I'm just genuinely stuck, the penny still hasn't dropped, and before pulling the trigger on RAM setups for two separate bikes requiring very different approaches, I'm trying to ensure I've been able to understand the requirements... for example, can the right RAM mount/piece/part be screwed straight into the thread where the mirrors used to attach or was that something you fashioned from concocting your own starter piece for the mirror stem thread so that the RAM mount could then be attached/clamped to your design of initialising the starter piece via screwing a bolt into said thread?
      I'll stop here, I'm aware I began to take the Michael five paragraphs ago 🤐😉
      Cheers again fella, and thanks again for taking the time to address my initial comment (& my apologies for not clocking the setup technique from your reply, that's all on me mate and in no way a reflection of any sort of fault on your end)!

Since removing phone tray do you have any water Ingress to battery area or other electrics? There’s a tool tray on the 900 covering the battery . Is the battery on the 1200 covered?

      Akrapovic have released an end can for this bike that allows the luggage to fit perfectly. It’s over £1000 though and won’t make much difference to the sound. I consider it but then decided it’s probably not worth the money.
