thanks for the tutorial; yes went through the frustrating cycle, but you cleared it up!! i have now connected my Senna SRL Neotec2 to my Garmin XT2; looking forward to my rides in the new year, thanks again
Further to my previous comment, it was a problem with the TFT and phone, cardo fighting each other so was told to not connect to the TFT and its worked a treat since. I did as you say on your video restore everything to factory settings and start a fresh.
Many thanks for this. I've just bought an unused XT to fit on my 1150RS. I already have a Nav 5 on the 1200RS. I'm hoping for good things from the XT. The feedback I've been getting on the XT2 is that the XT is a better device. I appreciate your clear and concise work here. All the best. I'll give it a road test in the Borders on Saturday.
Great video! Information-packed but not overwhelming. The connectivity chart drawn on the benchtop was really useful in helping me understand. I've bookmarked this for the next time I have to set up comms.
Good stuff. I have the last Nav VI which is effectively a Garmin XT in drag. That said I pair my phone with my GSA rather than the nav on a daily basis and stream Spotify & phone calls through the TFT screen (basically because I only fit the Nav VI when I'm going off the rock). I think the biggest error riders make is they still pair their phone to the headset as well as the bike/GPS which causes all sorts of problems.
Thanks. Thought the use of my pens worked well on my worktop😂Going to play around with the connections and try and go through the tft and try to get the zumo xt to send gps directions to the headset with no connection to the phone. Thats another video possibly. Thinking of upgrading the 10S to possibly Cardo? Trying the Suzuki v strom 800 tomorrow from Inmotion(for the channel)
@@gsd32i i have the Cardo Packtalk Bold with the 40mm JBL speaker upgrade and love it. The Packtalk (now replaced with the edge) has 2 channels so i do pretty much what you have done with the phone channel on the cardo to the tft and then the gps channel to the gps. Generally works very well. The cardos also prioritise gps instructions even when im listening to spotify via the tft the packtalk mutes the music when the gps wants to twll me where to go 👍
@@gsd32i My ideal set up would be phone connected directly to headset (Cardo in my case) and a data only connection to the Zumo. I can do most phone things by voice command so don't need the sat nav acting as a hub. Up to now I've been manually unticking the phone call box on start up but it's extra faff.
Thank you man. I can't wait to try this. My XT was driving me crazy all last season. Hopefully this helps. Thank you for the continued info. I just miss your KTM as that is my ride.
Thanks . KTM was nuts . But literally at the end of the warranty period I had it serviced only to get a top end oil leak ! Wasn’t able to buy KTM extended warranty as they don’t do it . Was fixed by me dealer free of charge , to be fare they were really good but I had decided to sell it by then . Mental bike just reliability was my concern once out of warranty . Enjoy your ride 👍
@@gsd32i Yes I got the top end oil leak twice so I hear you with the reliability. You had also mentioned that where you live its hard to ride it to its potential so I am not mad at you for selling it but you were my inspiration for buying it in the first place. Keep up the great work!
Great video mate.I couldn't remember the sequence of connection as I had the same problem on my Harley connection to the bike and phone and headset. You have to remember to start from the very beginning.Btw your instructions do work with XT2
I tried your set up and I just could not overcome the problem of the Bluetooth dropping out and disconnecting the phone. I even tried connecting the phone through the BM TFT, which worked but no music from the GPS. Eventually I reset everything and followed the setup for the Cardio Insyde and I think it is working now. Thanks for your help, small though it was but none the less appreciated.
Hi Just been watching your video about connectivity, I have a GSA, do you not connect to your bikes TFT at all? Also, your way of connecting, do you get turn by turn from your Zumo XT ( I have the XT2 btw) Thanks Mick
Hi, TBH I haven't used it for a while now as have gone over to Chigee. I did get TBT navigation. I hope that the XT2 is easier and more reliable from a connectivity point of view.
Just got the xt2 and use the tread app to load my upcoming tour to France, hopefully my HJC 20b arrives tomorrow, hopefully will have no issues pairing it to the xt2, I’ve used just a cheap pair of wireless ear pods and seem fine,so fingers crossed 😮
Another nice vid Paul. I notice you've not included the TFT into your connections, unless I've missed something? Is that because you've had dropping out issues? I had dropping out issues at first, I found it's not what you pair but rather the order in which they're paired that matters, not used BLE just BT. My bike is 23 GSA TE, I deleted all pairings on all devices and paired in this order. Sena headset to TFT, Headset to sat nav (XT) via 2nd phone pairing, Phone (Android) to TFT, Phone to Sat nav, deselect contacts and calls these going through the TFT. Works every time no drop outs, my partner also rides her own bike she has a Sena which also works flawlessly bike to bike with me.
Appreciate the input. Like I said there is more than one way to skin the cat 😂I will be doing a video to include the tft next, but wanted to keep it simple for simple folk like me!!!!. To be honest I am looking at changing my Sena 10s it to something newer, possibly the Cardo Packtalk edge. I will try what you have done and if it works will give you the credit 👍 What headset do you have and do you get message updates and weather radar on the xt without the BLE? Have great weekend .
@@gsd32i Hi Paul, didn't post the above so as to point fingers or anything just a bit of info for yourself and those who don't use iPhones. My headset is a Sena ACS10 the custom fit system for Arias. As far as I'm aware I'm still getting weather info not sure what you mean about message up dates? If you mean phone messages, then no, not through the XT. The contacts and calls are deselected on the XT and go through the TFT. That is just my preference, I can't see why it wouldn't if the phone was used for calls, messages etc.
@@Gundimuck No problem, I believe the BLE is used for transmitted data, whether then be incoming messages onto the zumo xt or looking at weather on the xt, via the Garmin drive app. Thanks , I will have a play for the tft video/settings/connections. 👍
@@gsd32i I think there's quite a few ways to connect items, it all depends on personnel preference, i.e. calls via Satnav, TFT, Headset etc. What appears to be apparent is how and in what order that stops the dropping out.

Hi. To be honest I can't remember🙈. The unit is now decommissioned ....and is sat on my work bench, whilst the new kid on the block, from Chigee sits on the bar mount.
FYI It’s BTE Bluetooth Low Energy. It’s an Uber low power usage mode. I love tech & gadgets, the lush TFT on the GS was one of the reasons I bought new as most of the used ones didn’t have it. However, that was a mistake! After years (bought bike in 2019) I’ve completely given up with the BMW Connected App and pairing stuff to the TFT. The original problem was crappy audio quality and regular drop outs of Bluetooth. I even tried a few different phones (iOS & Android) but nothing worked. I tried again last year following a TFT firmware upgrade and the stability problems were fixed. But then I had a new challenge! Given the TFT or in this instance the Garmin becomes a Bluetooth hub it means you can’t use the Cardo App to switch between DMC intercom groups. Weirdly there’s no way to do rid without the app. Honda appear to have the best option with Car Play, although I’ve not tried that yet.
What if you do not need your GPS unit? Will it still work with the headsets? It seems counterintuitive and limits you based on using the GPS as the main hub. UPDATE: Cargo offers a second Bluetooth pairing option to toggle between. That may be the solution I am looking for.
I had high hopes for the new Zumo XT2 but when you sync the Tread app the Zumo randomly alters the routes that I’ve created which completely defeats the purpose.
Good video Paul but can you also add the integration with the BMW TFT if possible, I have shuberth helmet sena, with iPhone 12 pro max, zumo xt, and 2022 triple black gs. Have constant disconnects and drop out messages on xt whilst riding. It's driving me nuts.
