Dang Dude, this is some amazing stuff. I can see why all of you love this. I had no idea…great video. In fact both are great. I know what to get and it is on my list.😊
Very good Dan, I'm still coming to grips with my XT2. I sold my Tomtom Rider 550 and find the XT2 more user friendly. My main concern is working out the best way to load my gpx route and track files. As and off road rider I find the Garmin map lacking in detail big time, especially here in New Zealand. Keep up the good work
Thanks for watching! You might find GAIA maps to be useful. You can export a track or route from there then open it in Explore and it will be transferred to your XT2. ( if you have Tread set up and a Explorer account)
My friend has an XT2 and cannot import GPX I email him into the Tread app, without failed loads or corrupting the route. He was fed up with the XT2 and was going to return it and get an XT. But I worked out that if he uploaded the route to the Explore website it would then synch, as a workaround. But Garmin should fix that bug. For road riding, I'd buy the XT and save the difference.
Interesting. My experience with the XT2 was very positive. Tested it for about a month and it worked flawlessly in every respect. Tread app along with Explore functionality was good.
@@3131960dan Update. It turns out after extensive testing an talking to Garmin support, he has a faulty unit. They've replaced it and hopefully that will solve all of hiss problems. In general terms Garmin GPS have always been excellent in my experience.
I am pretty happy with the XT for 3 years now. Its absolutely enough to simple navigate (what its made for) or just following a offroad track as i often do. What keeps me also from upgrading is the fact, that i dont want to dismantle my KTM tower again because of the new mount that has to be used. A shame that you cant just use the old mount from the XT...
Does it still take you out from paved roads over to gravel just because it's a shorter route? Or does it still go crazy for highways even if I set it not to??
It sounds like you’re keeping up with development. What sources are you using for that? I’m wondering if there’s any hope for the hardware and software to get less laggy and more fluid in the future. I’ve been disappointed in that aspect of my XT2…
The real beauty of the XT2 is the ability to make your own routes right on the unit. There is no need to make routes on your computer and then bring the gpx files or whatever over. The ability of the unit to also provides tunes and navigation services without a phone at all. This is an unnecessary complication not required with the XT2. It blows away all competition by miles IMO.
I saw yours, that’s why it rings the bell. I have the same and thought that maybe it fitted because the back of XT2 is the same. Many thanks for the information and all the best
If the XT loses a stable power connection it goes to 40% brightness making it unreadable. It is impossible to change brightness back to 100% as the XT prompts you to connect to a 'stable power connection' to achieve this, which you obviously cannot do on the road if your stable power connection fails making battery life useless. it has to be connected to a power source to function which is a big design flaw for a motorbike satnav in my opinion if you ever have to rely on the battery for whatever reason.
If you install it correctly you shouldn’t have this issue. There have been a few owners that have had connection pin issues but not many. I have had the XT since it was first released. Use it on 3 different bikes that i ride rugged offroad trails on. It has worked flawlessly . If you want something that will run off battery power you need the Montana. Battery will last all day but its not designed for riding. More of a hike/ hunting gps.
I just want a simple nav dont need to save trips or share data with others just want to get from point A to point B period all the add on stuff stop me from wanting one .
@ ha, I must’ve thought he was throwing some profound Latin phrase at me at the end like “buy carefully”. Just watched a long YT review on the carpe iter on Bennett’s Bike Social. Damn, I should not have got the Zumo XT2 for 600 bucks plus. This looks great except for the fact that I have apple devices, not android.
Very informative, Dan. Much appreciated!

Excellent video Dan! This helped me out greatly.

you can use your original mount with the XT2
Just got a new to me bike today with an zumo xt mount. I was also trying to find if the xt2 wound fit. Thanks for the info
„Shorter distance“ to be included in the next XT2 update 👍

Are you guys looking at Chigee?
does this comes with two decimal places in speed reading?
Santa just brought me the xt2.
Santa is so kind.
Hi.
Thank you!
My Xt2 does not have any Hole to put a Safety Wrist Starp. Does yours have it?
No.
Touratech handlebar mount for zumo xt is the same for xt2?
I don’t think so. XT2 has bigger screen. Touratech probably makes one specifically for the XT2. I have it for my XT. Expensive but well made.

thanks but the music loop did my head in

Both slow as a gsm from the 80s…. And TomTom is worse…Time all riders find out that there is more… : Carpe iter
Would be interesting to hear what you use in place of a Zumo.
what do you use instead of Zumo?
Have you found something better, faster?
@@3131960dan He told you, Carpe Iter
