Mark and Lael had very different approaches with different records available. Mark says in interviews that his records are often approached like military operations 😂 his has a project manager who is in charge whilst he's riding! Whether LM will do supported or unsupported will be interesting!

3:34 in Ted King's ill-fated Tour Divide ride, he seemed to assume sleep deprivation was necessary, and got super sick within a few days as a result of not sleeping enough. He was hospitalized and had to abandon the ride. By contrast, Lachlan made a point of sleeping at least 6hrs a day for his own Tour Divide run. I think getting enough sleep is important to maintain such insane volume day after day. At least at the speeds Lachlan puts out every day. Also, 6:50 Lachlan is on a road bike for his Australia tour, but he's been doing a decent amount of gravel and dirt roads lately, to avoid some of the more dangerous highway traffic. So he isn't necessarily restricted to completely paved routes for an around-the-world tour. These ultra long distance challenges, and the unique demands they put on the body, the brain and on the bike, are a fascinating topic, and make for great conversation. Would love to hear more, cheers 🎉
