Just bought this press. Well actually, I bought the PC5 for 400 and the conversion kit for 268 dollars. Everything went smoothly. However, the PC5 came with the updated primer transfer bars but the PC7 kit was packed with the old ones.
I contacted RCBS and they are sending me the new primer transfer bars and an extra endexing arm.
For now, I’ll prime my brass on the old trusty Hornady.
Finally, I have to say, Once you go 7 it’s going to be hard to go back.

Think I am liking that pro 7. Your close up of the powder cop gave me an idea. You obviously saw the one lower powder throw and kept on going since it was w/i visual range of acceptance for you in regards to where you are at in the start to max range. I will make some practice throws and purposely range the grain thrown to see where the variances are on my cop visually w/ each powder type for awhile until I get a handle on my range of acceptance. Looked around but didn't find a vid by you on the Lyman "M" die. Some day if you htink of it and have time for it, would like to see/hear your thoughts. Thanks for the vid. Nice reloaidng job as usual.

Yes sir! This from my eye is the format or sequence that works fantastic for you! Great vid! I like the reloading first then explaining second it works. I have to say I was looking more at the Chevy truck in the background though lol! love that old iron! Love your vids I've been watching them for a couple years now.

looks like the tool head moves quite a bit during the top stroke. Got to believe this would lead to big tolerance swings in your ammo. May be fine for loose chambered pistol rounds, but for tighter chambered performance barrels, would think there may be a higher failure rate in ammo reliability.

+dvatp Hey guys- I run these presses with the set screws slightly lose on purpose. I personally like some "float" between the dies and the shellplate as it enhances die/cartridge alignment. That's one of the positive virtues of the Hornady Lock-N-Load bushing system (inherent float). I have a friend that runs his Dillon RL550-b with only one toolhead pin for the same reason. I haven't yet checked consistency in COL (on ogive) but that will be a good "measure" of the precision. The important thing is that you have a consistent and positive "hard stop" for the toolhead which the Pro Chucker design does have. More data to come!

I appreciate your reloading videos, especially on the RCBS Pro Chucker 7 since there are so very few videos on this press - and most reviews are are very dated. From your experiences, has the PC7 primer slider issue been resolved by RCBS? I know that many reloaders would like to consider the Pro Chucker 7, but they have reliability concerns as do I. Your honest, candid feedback would be appreciated by the reloading community. Again, many thanks for the quality equipment and reloading videos you produce - they are among the best on the Internet.

I think it has some of the nicest features of all of what's out there, but still some of the handicaps. Odd as it sounds, I think Lee got more of the small details right with theirs. i.e. retainers that can't fail, and don't need replaced with a different size for caliber swaps. This one primes on the down stroke which is right, and has enough stations to break out seating and crimping without losing place for a feeder or a lockout die. That's the real draw. IIRC it lacks automatic primer pocket swaging which the 1050 can do, but that has the same priming on the upstroke issue that Lee has.

Happy New Year Gavin! Just wondering of you found that your Glock was hard on the brass. My 10mm Glock has always chewed up the brass a bit where the extractor grabbed it. It leaves a ding on the rim that mades it just about impossible to get into the shell holder without extensive fiddling.

Anyone know where I can buy a large primer plug for the chucker 7. I live in the UK so parts here are impossible. I bought the rcbs 7 stage here in the UK and when assembling I found it had 2 small primer plugs instead of a small and a large. Tried to buy a large from rcbs in America but they sent me the wrong part. What I need is the hollowed out bolt with spring and large primer punch. I'm willing to pay a hundred pounds for one of these as rcbs don't have a clue what they're doing.

How smooth is the indexing? I can't see through your hands - they keep getting in the way & I can't see the action. My Hornady AP will index hard enough to flick a bit of powder out of 9mm cases.

Same question as mike Ruffo: Are there any updates on the pro-chuckers? Or did you give up on them? I like the idea of 7 stations to allow the maximum amount of versatility but still the negative reviews around the internet worry me.

Not sure, but I believe this model is on hold, numerous primer feed problems, etc. It has been out for a year and I cannot find hardly any detailed reviews and it seems to be back-ordered indefinitely. Tried to get some info from RCBS and got nowhere. Love the idea of 7 stations but seems the bugs need to be addressed before it returns to the market. Plus, changing calibers is really expensive as you have to buy a new powder dispenser with each plate.

    • @ouruiz
      @ouruiz 8 лет назад +1

I ordered a Pro Chucker 7 when it first came out on the market and it had several bugs to fix. The first problem I had was the ejector wire which was inconsistent with ejecting my .45acp brass which would then lead to problem #2, which was the indexing arm. The indexing arm would break and I would have to order another one which would take a couple of weeks before I could reload again. Finally the 3rd bug was the plastic primer sliding shuttle bars would easily break if a primer would get hung up. RCBS should have kept the APS system. This ruined my trust for RCBS products.

What I don’t understand is why you can buy the shell plate for the PC5 without having to buy the powder measure for about 35 dollars but you can’t buy the shell plate without also having to buy the powder measure for for the PC7 for 268 dollars minimum.
That is rediculous and product suicide.

Nice video, thank you. Question: is the length of the cartridges (COL) regular? Sometimes, on some progressive presses, the length of the cartridges varies a lot, and this is not good for the pressure when shooting.
Also, why is there so much movement in the tool head when you are cycling the press?
Does this affect the accuracy of the LOC?
    Thanks for your answer.

Great video!

I have the little ejector leg right at the back of the case, and use it as my gage for how low I can screw in the factory crimp die. Basically the plug is bottomed out in the die and it spaced just slightly off the ejector leg. Works great.

    1. Can this reloader load old shells, meaning remove old primers & size up the old shell?
