Thanks mate much appreciated. Absolutely there would be mate. I remember a trawler coming past us out from DI one day as they were cleaning the catch. I drove past were they had been and there was a trial of Cuttlefish on the surface. I went and collected a heap for bait.
Great video as always Greg, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’ll definitely be giving this a crack at some point! The cleaning demonstration at the end is brilliant, I would have had absolutely no clue what to do until now 🤣👌
Thanks for the great video Greg. I wish I had seen your way of cleaning them before I processed last Saturdays lot. I manage to get ink on quite a few of them. I love the Panther snips at the front of the cuttle bone. Have you tried putting them in the scaling bag for a tow? Perhaps a partial processing before the bag?
Cheers Terry much appreciated mate. Another handy tip is to leave them on ice for a couple of days and make sure there not in sitting in any water. The ink thickens up and becomes way less messy. I haven't towed them behind the boat in the scaler bag like I do with squid as I feel it wouldn't really do a lot although I'm sure it may lesson the ink mess. Cheers
Love your videos. Very helpful compared to many videos that are about nowadays. Random question though what’s the best ramp to access Moreton bay to explore a few good areas not just for cephalopods but in general?
Thanks heaps for the kind words Paul, much appreciated mate. The best ramp depends on what part of the bay you intend to fish. For the Northern bay - Bribie Island and Scarborough, Middle to Southern Bay - Manly or Cleveland. Very Southern Bay - Victoria Point or Redland bay. Cheers
Really awesome video as usual, It never gets old for someone to be hit in the face with Ink But I have found that its only funny when its someone else? It is funny the underwater camera doesn't spin as much in this fishing, I found it sickening in some of the fishing ones as the fish spun coming up. Hey Gregg do you spearfish? Cheers Garry
Dear sir, may I ask whether the three sets of fish hook spikes on the back of the wooden shrimp were made by you yourself or purchased as a complete product?
Just looking at this video with your addition of another set of barbs on top of the jig , i observed on the camera vision that the cuttlefish still attacked from the front of the jig . Maybe the hooks on top if facing away from the head & opposite to the rear facing hooks would be worth a try . I intend to give it a try . Enjoyed your video , Ray .
The man of the under water footage 👏 nice work
haha I love it mate. It takes a lot of time and work to achieve but it's worth it. Cheers
Great video. I had no idea how to clean a cuttlefish before this video.
Thanks
Thanks mate. It's just one of the easier and cleaner ways I found to do it. Cheers
Great video mate I’ve never seen cuttlefish caught before 👍🏽
Thanks mate I'm glad you enjoyed it
What great education Greg. Something I’ve never targeted directly but will give a go.
Please do more education videos!
Thanks mate much appreciated. There's plenty of educational vids on my channel mate and plenty more coming as well. Cheers
Looks like the enviro net is a good way to keep some of the ink out of the boat. Thanks for making this video Greg
haha yep that net is perfect to avoid an inking
Great info thanks mate
No problems cheers
Good way of cleaning them up mate 👍 magic colours in the underwater shots too nice work mate
Thanks mate I find it one of the easier ways that's for sure
ahhh good work mate...very informative...I reckon there has to be similar ground in the wide bay and Fraser Coast....have to have an explore...

Great vid and footage. Did you noticed they change color ad they strike the lure? Fascinating. You wouldn’t think they’d do that
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it. Yes mate I mention that in the vid. Squid do much the same as well.

Thanks Will much appreciated mate.
I'll have to buy some squid jigs and give it a try at Cleveland Point.
Give it a go mate, it's just a matter of trying different locations until you find them.
Just had my first crack at them this weekend. Great fun but geez what a mess.
hahaha yep even when you've got it down pat and careful its still messy fishing lol
Thanks for the great video Greg.

@@gregswickedfishing Thanks Greg. I'll have a bit of an experiment and let you know.
Interesting vid Greg , it was really interesting you said you find them on sand and mud bottom, i actually thought theyd only on reefy rock with weed.
Thanks mate. Yeah they're a fascinating creature that's for sure. Amazing the flat lifeless looking bottom that often find them on.

Thanks heaps mate much appreciated. haha yep never nice when youre the one getting inked lol. I don't spearfish mate I prefer to stay in the boat lol.
Awesome footage mate, which camera are you using to record those strikes ?
thanks mate. It's an old waterwolf camera that are no longer sold in Australia.

If you coat the jigs with clear nail varnish it not only stops them biting through the cover but they clean easier too
Looks good. What time of year for Cuttlefish in Moreton Bay. Cooler or warm seasons?
The cooler months around winter are the best times mate
The ones we get here in the UK are all above a kilo
You have to kill them.infront of eachother
