I have this same old laptop, I don't use it because I lost the charger years ago, but the thing is. I recently found its charger and I'm about to experience some nostalgia.
I have a Probook 4530s. I've had it for 7 years. It's served me well and I love how hefty and bulky it is, it just feels so solid. However, it's time to upgrade. I've replaced the battery a few times over the years, the bottom panel is taped on, the wifi card is shot, etc. Just ordered an HP Omen (Just watched your other video on that one) Probooks are amazing.
Thanks for this interesting video @TechHarvest. I made an effort to "live in Linux" a few years ago, but that wasn't an especially successful experiment for me. Mainly the trip-up for me was that audio recording and editing is not ready for prime time, at least I was never able to get it to work reliably. And since I make my living narrating audiobooks, recording and editing audio is an absolute must. I am curious about the process you use when you replace a hard drive with an SSD. Do you clone the system drive to the SSD? Or just start from scratch. If you do clone, do you have a specific utility you use? Forgive me if you have all ready posted a video with the answer to this question. if you have, I haven't seen it for whatever reason. Whatever the case, that's for keeping the good stuff flowing!
I haven't tried audio recording on Linux but I have tried video editing on it. Unfortunately much like yourself, I found the programs not as robust as I'd like them to be. I use Windows for my video editing. I started this channel editing on Mac's but I haven't owned an Apple product in years. As for cloning an OS, I've used Macrium (which is a free download) and Acronis (which came free with a PNY SSD purchase). Both are excellent pieces of software. I will be posting an OS cloning video soon. I used to start from scratch but as I get older and time is scarce, I tend to clone operating systems instead of starting from scratch. It saves you from having to retune everything. :)
@@TechHarvest This is exactly what I was hoping to hear from you. I used Acronis when I cloned the system drive for my main audio workstation, but that came free with the Crucial SSD that's now the heart of that system. But, I didn't want to try that software on a different system, using a different brand of SSD (as I'm going to do for my middle son's audio workstation in a few days) so knowing the Macrium software is solid is a great relief. My son is my editor for all of my audiobooks, so moving him up to an SSD should really give him a boost.
I'm glad that I could help. As you know HDD's and SSD's are like night and day. I have such a backlog of videos to edit for my channel that I'm forced to store some of the unedited footage on my HDD due to space constraints. Editing the footage off of that HDD isn't prohibitive but it's much slower than editing off of the SSD. I'm sure your son will appreciate the upgrade. I don't think that you'd have a problem using your Acronis software to do your son's upgrade. However, you can't go wrong with Macrium. BTW, I like that you have a family production for your voice over ventures. :)

Hello tech harvest. My name is Christopher, and I am from Los Angeles county California. I just wanted to say that you have very amazing videos on your channel. I have been watching your videos silently for quite a while, and I thought I would finally introduce myself and just let you know that I am watching. LOL. I love technology myself also, as someone who is visually impaired, technology comes in very useful in daily life. I just love how you describe the look and feel of every gadget you review, which gives me an ability to create an image in my head of what that gadget looks like. I’m not sure if you’ve ever heard of some of the technology we blind people use on our computers like screen readers and all that accessibility stuff. Anyway, I don’t want to make this comment longer than it needs to be, I just wanted to let you know that you have amazing content, and I hope it keeps on coming. Take care, and hope to have an opportunity to chat with you sometime.
Hi Christopher! Sorry for the late reply. Usually with my current schedule, I make time for this channel on the weekends. Last weekend I took a mini vacation to visit Rhode Island though. I was born in Santa Monica, CA so we have something in common there. Thanks for the kind words. It's very humbling to know that this channel is appreciated. Knowing that the tactile nature of products is important to you will be in the back of my mind as I do future videos. I have dabbled with the accessibility features of some products but I'm sure that there is much more out there than I'm aware of. Thanks for reaching out and saying hi. I look forward to talking with you in the future. :)
TechHarvest Hello tech harvest, so great to hear back from you. That’s awesome, to hear that you are also from Los Angeles. That’s one thing we have in common. Yes, there’s a lot of accessibility stuff out there. Screen reader programs, magnifying software and devices, braille displays, so many things. Lots of apps and services designed specifically for those of us who can’t see. One of my favorite gadgets is a pair of smart glasses that I have. The glasses themselves look like regular sunglasses. But you really can’t notice the little camera that they have until you look up close at them.
TechHarvest it really is. The glasses have a camera in the nose area, so it’s in the middle. I use them for visual assistance. So there is an agent, who is trained, that can give me information that I need to know as far as my surroundings, or if I need help reading something. I am unsure if you are on other social platforms, but if you are, I can search for you on Facebook or whatever else you have, and we can have a conversation there. That way we don’t have a public conversation that everyone can see. LOL.
That sounds very cool. As for other social media, I'm on Facebook and Twitter. On Facebook I'm under Tek Harvest. On Twitter I'm under TechHarvest. I must warn you though, I'm not the most active social media user, but I do try to keep on top of it. :)

The first thing that I would do to troubleshoot your issue would be to make sure that all of the drivers are up to date and loaded properly. What OS are you using?
I really like this laptop, unfortunately the Wi-Fi and Mute button stopped responding, Wi-Fi icon disappear from the taskbar and no way no check the network adapters they went away. I really don't know what to do I even check the drivers and I did troubleshoot a lot and still does not even work, I need some help if anyone who has came through this before and can help I'll appreciate so much. I like this laptop and hp recommended to me to hard reset and reinstall Windows 7 and I don't want to. Thank you.
I had a core i5 version of this a couple of years ago and traded it with someone for a different machine to play with. They are a great easy project laptop that you can get with no OS on ebay for less than $75. If you put in an SSD and add some RAM, it is still a very capable machine. It is THICK which I also do not mind but it is built like a tank. You can purchase a caddy so you can replace the DVD drive with a second hard drive. I put an SSD in the original hard drive spot for the OS and programs and put the original 500 GB spinning drive as a second storage drive for media. I kinda wish I hadn't traded it. Back to Ebay!
Yes with 8GB of RAM and an SSD, this thing is still a capable machine. It's funny that you mention the caddy. I just did the same thing with my Dell Latitude about 3 weeks ago. I have a 1TB SSD in it with the OS on it and a 2TB HDD in the caddy. :)
Sir can u tell me which charger to ise for it because my charger is broken and I am unable to get original charger please tell me which charger can I buy for this please reply 😥😥😥
I would go to Amazon and search for the specific model number of your laptop and get the charger there. If you don't have access to Amazon in your area, look for an equivalent retailer. You could always go straight to HP as well.
Interesting as I have one and I am half tempted to upgrade the processor so that it goes to intel 3000 as currently it only has 4000 and it's not as good (despite the higher number) So a couple of games I have that used to run on my old laptop don't run on this one
