- This is the strange side of Lovethatpop, I do random reviews of laptops, microphones, etc or anything that interest me when I'm not working with music.
The HP Probook 6360b is still a great laptop to get, even in 2021! This compact laptop offers a large number of built-in ports and connections with good battery life, all in a small form factor.

That's great! Thanks for the comment and you're welcome. I'm still using mines now and it works great. If you haven't already added the core i7, you should upgrade the processor. It really makes the laptop fly. Quick boot ups and shut downs, plus it makes the laptop very responsive. Thanks again.

My boss is giving me this monster from tomorrow for my office admin work.
That's great.I would recommend upgrading the processor to a Core i7, its easy to upgrade and takes only about 10 minutes. Once you upgrade that machine, you will get a big performance boost. Faster boot ups, shutdown (3 seconds to shut down). The processor is the Core i7-2620m 2.70 GHz, you can get it on Ebay for $49. Plus the machine can be upgraded to 16 Gigs of RAM. I will soon be posting another video in a few days on the details of that and how it performs.
I still use that laptop
In early 2020 I was looking for a Laptop with an ExpressCard54 port. Not sure if I overpaid but I got the HP 6360b (trackpoint) on Ebay for $80. Unfortunately, couldn't get it to recognize the USB3 ExpressCard I plugged in.. and the HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station was not compatible. Other than that the laptop has been great.
Currently I have a Win10 SSD drive but would like to dual-boot WinXP. Any experience with that? For example, I made a 6GB partition, but not sure if there's a preferred way/tool to make sure the Win10 installation is not affected, and that the uefi allows dual-boot at power-on?
(BTW, I tried I also tried installing XP (from a CD) onto a USB drive, so that I can run from the USB, but it didn't work.. while it installs fine, it blue-screens while booting. I'm guessing it's because the USB drivers aren't baked into the kernel . Any idea if if XP could install onto a drive connected to the 6360b's eSATA port, or would it be the same issue?
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I was trying to do the same thing as you to have the dual boot. I have the same problem and I can't figure it out. But what I did before, is that I used 2 hard drives in the laptop. I have a lenovo W510 with 2 hard drives each one with its own operating system. I just have to switch the boot order when booting up to go to either operation. I been using that laptop like that for over 2 years now and haven't had any problems. Sometimes, it will just ask me if I want to check or test the system (hard drive) to make sure everything is working correctly, I just skip it and it works fine.
I was thinking you can do that with the HP 6360b. Its a great machine and I still use mine now. You can add a second hard drive in the optical bay. That's great you got the 6360b with the Track point one. The Express Card Slot is not working? Oh, I think I know what the problem is. Some of those Express Card adapters are not plug and play. I brought 2 SD card Express Card Adapters, one is plug and play and the other needs a driver installed for it to work. Some of those USB adapters needs a driver for them to work.
For the dock, I used the Standard 2011 or 2012 90W Docking Station one. If the docking station you are using is not working with your laptop (6360b), it may be the adapter. when I miss place my 90w adapter, I used my 60W adapter (the one that came with my laptop). You know what, the Docking Station didn't work with my laptop. The docking station would Not even charge my laptop or turn it on. I found out that it was the adapter! The 60w adapter didn't have enough power to run the dock or charge laptop. it was like the Docking Station was dead. But when I used the 90W adapter (the one that came with the dock), every worked fine. My laptop charged, bootup etc. The slim 2013 docking station you are using, what adapter does it used? The adapter may not be powerful enough.
For Windows XP, it should work on eSATA port. Yes, you should try it. If that doesn't work, you will have to use a hard drive in the optical bay. you can put XP on the hard drive and use it in the opitcal bay.

Wait, witch card were you using for the usb3.o expansion, i just placed an order for one on aliexpress for my probook 6360b
I was given a ProBook 6360t that I'm upgrading for doing work stuff on. I already installed a I5 2.4ghz CPU. Upgrading the RAM. I only see one slot on the easily accessible side. Is there another slot on the opposite side of the board under the keyboard? The specs say 2 GB on board memory. I installed an 8 GB stick and it's saying 12 GB. The couple videos I've found show the slots on top of each other?
That's great. Yes, there is a second ram slot underneath the keyboard. So you have remove a few screws to get to the ram slot.
I have some but the camera has been covered n there is no Bluetooth so why? Can u teach me how to get the camera back??

That's great! Its well worth getting one. I just finished upgrading mine and I love it. I upgraded the processor and added 8 gigs of Ram and it is fast. If I have time I will post a video on how I upgraded mines.

The First thing you need to do is download the HP 6360b drivers for the laptop. Go to: support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-probook-6360b-notebook-pc/5045581 Once there, scroll down until you see "All drivers" and click on it, than download the basic drivers (like the graphic driver -Intel Video Driver and Control Panel, audio driver, wifi driver and the SD Card Reader Driver).
After that, go to: www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 to download the windows 10 ISO file. You will need a license key to activate windows 10 (but you can still install windows 10 (i think you can install the key later). You will need a flash driver that is 8gb. Than download the iso windows 10 file to the flash drive. Than turn off your hp 6360b laptop than plug in the flash drive with windows 10 on it. Than turn on the laptop and it will boot up to the usb drive first with the flash drive in it (if it doesn't boot to usb driver first, go to bios and select start-up to change the boot order to usb). Once that happens, than you can install windows 10 on it. Once windows 10 is installed on your laptop, windows will automatically download the rest of the drivers you need. Than you are done.

The Probook 6570b is pretty much the same as the 6360b, just a larger version. Good machine too.
On this notebook Core i7-2860QM work fine! But memory work on 1333(but 16Gb :D ). May be someone help this info. And i have main ssd, and 1tb hdd replaced in dvdrom slot. I can't replace wifi and 3g-modem on 4g-modem, because bios on this book is encrypted for fingerprint security, but again it have 1Gbit ethernet. On 2860qm i can watch 4k movies on tv with displayport cable(DP-HDMI) without lags. If someone can win bios whitelist on this model, i'm going crazy. 8-)
Only one bad thing about this HP, it's original hp display, i can't find another model of matrix for this notebook.

Hello, thanks for the comment. Nice setup you have the 16GB ram and processor. If you have a probook 6360b, 6570b or other hp notebooks, HP puts a limitation on their systems, So if you are using 1600Mhz ram, the system (or laptop) will limit the speed to only 1333MHz. This can not be changed because it is in the notebook system. For the screen, if you have a 6360b you can replace the screen with the same resolution, but if you have a 6570b or 6560b, you can upgrade the screen to a higher resolution of 1600 x 900. if you want to use a 1080p screen on your Probook 6360b or 6570b use a docking station, by using a HP Docking station, you can use a higher resolution screen like 1080p. It will work great, that is what I use (hp docking station).
For the BIOS, what do you mean, can't access the BIOS?

About bios, on this books(with fingerprint device) no opportunity to clear devices whitelist in bios, and no replace to another wifi and 4g-modem. 8-(
@@user-vm3xb5ir6w Oh ok. I replaced the screen on mines when I first got it (the screen was damaged) I use a LED or TN panel glossy screen. For the bios, you can actually reset or remove the bios password by removing the cmos battery. When you remove the cmos battery, let it set for 30 minutes and than put it back in. That should reset the bios back to normal and remove the password or settings.

@@user-vm3xb5ir6w Oh ok I see. The only thing you can do is Bios Mod, or find a different wifi card that works with the whitelist. For the screen, I used a LP133WH1 (TL)(A1) LG 13.3" WXGA HD LED Screen. This works with the HP 6360b laptop. Sure. I would recommend getting the Core i7 2620M Processor, its the highest you can go. Intel Core i7-2620M Processor (2.70 GHz, 4MB L3 cache, 2 cores/4 threads, 35 W)1

That is what I have in my 6360b and it runs fast. The PC boots up quick and shuts down quick. The processor really makes a big difference in the performance of the laptop. It will be the best investment you can make in upgrading the laptop.
Also make sure to use good quality thermal heatsink paste. I use the silver thermal paste. One tube is all you need (you don't need that much, just enough to cover the area). I use the paste and the computer don't heat up much, works really well. Make sure you are running at least 8 gigs of ram with the core i7 2620M Processor. You will see better performance. The Processor will run you $40 dollars, good deal for the performance.
