I'd love to catch one that size. I saw some pretty signifigant sized marks and they were definitely larger than the ones I caught this day

That’s awesome! Feels good to get a bucket list fish. I’ve been getting weakies off the beach next to rock jetties all summer down here in queens. They can also get very thick in the back bays. Nice. Sorry about your rod. I’ve been there.

Nice, I've caught weakfish from. Shore but only 16 inches or so. I will definitely keep. Trying for larger ones.

@@davedeefishing I usually get them while fluking using 6” gulp jerk shads on a 1/4oz jig head in very shallow water. Out front, they tend to hang around the cuts in the sand bars created by the rock jetties. Color really doesn’t seem to matter. They’ve mostly all left the beach and are now staged up in the bay gorging on peanuts. I’m assuming they will exit soon with the fall migration. I really enjoy your videos and it’s cool you make your own lures. I wish I had the time and the patience for that. It would save me a lot of money. 😂

wrap a piece of pool noodle around your lighter rods when kayak fishing, you can attach them with zip ties down near the handle of the rod right above the reel. you should experiment how much pool noodle you need to keep the rod afloat!

I tried the pool noodle before and I personally can't stand it being on a rod. Idk why.

Sorry about the rod/reel brother. You found a great pattern for these weakfish though! Cant ask for better time out on the water especially for your first time targeting them.
