    Four recommended improvements which may, or may not, already be in the works: 1) Regenerative re-charging through pedal motion, 2) Turn signal functionality through a handle bar remote, 3) A folding pedal option for folding bikes, 4) A brightness burst and strobe function when braking in order to further alert motorists.

    Looking cool, but as a man from a certain country where stealing happens every day, it would be nice to have a locking feature for those lights in case the owner forgets to remove them when the bike is parked. Will look forward for the SPD version :)

    • @Redshiftsports
      @Redshiftsports  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for the feedback! This is something that we are looking into and we'll have updates on in the future. The magnetic attachment provides a secure attachment while riding, but also allows for easy removal for charging or when parking in a high risk area. There is not a secondary lock for the light modules, but the magnetic attachment means it takes less time to remove and re-attach the arclight modules than most rubber band or strap-mounted headlights and tail lights. As for SPD model, we are actually working on a solution for clipless and hope to share it with everyone soon. This is pretty cool. My first thought, oh, these are in the pedals, people don't steel pedals, I'll probably be able to finally leave the bike with the lights on after locking it up to go to gym. Then I see how easy it is to take out the lights, and then disappointment hits me... Now one needs to take out 4 lights from their bike, instead of 2 (which is already a hassle).
    As for visibility, seems great! Sadly, not very practical for daily use.
    Anyway, a cool product, well done!

    Do they have a fast flash setting? Because I did rear red light testing as a bike messenger in NYC at night and cars gave me very little space if any when I had steady on light setting vs fast flash. With steady on people think you are a stationary object where fast flash people know instantly you’re a bike and give you way way more room. Also fast flash presents a high sense of urgency and makes people look up from their phone or console out of their vision when not looking at the road.

    • @Redshiftsports

    I wonder about the longterm efficiency of the batteries.

    • @Redshiftsports
      @Redshiftsports  Год назад

      Hi JO24 - thanks for the question. We are using a high quality custom lithium ion battery in the light modules. So, you can expect to get a similar number of full recharge cycles as you would get from a typical (high quality) lithium ion device - about 300-500 full cycles before you get any degradation that is noticeable. It is important to note that a full cycle is a full discharge + full recharge so you can expect a good bit more life and number of cycles under typical usage where you might not fully drain the lights before charging. And keep in mind that when the battery does start to degrade it will do so like your cell phone where it falls off overtime in terms of how much charge it has but it does not drop off a cliff. Depending on how you use the lights you can get some serious life - for example if you use the eco-flash mode you might only recharge once every month or month and a half. Thanks!

      Magic (well magnets but isn't that that same thing). We have hall effect sensors in the light modules that can detect the polarity of a magnet and we use that and the orientation (based on acceleration and some other inputs) to determine a color. So, you can setup the mounts to set the color by adjusting orientation and the magnet polarity (it can be switched by the users). And with the pedals, the magnets are set for left and right sides to ensure it does not matter what light module goes where it will always set color properly. Thanks for checking them out!
