This will never ever stop shaking me to my core. I was at Game 1 & Game 6 of the NLCS in 2003. When Sosa hit that bottom of the 9th inning shot in game 1, I thought it was our destiny. Then after Game 6, I walked home shattered, but still with belief. And when I watched from home, and Kid K hit that game-tying shot in Game 7, I was just convinced. And again, I, along with legions of Cub fans, I was utterly shattered. It was my dream from then on to be at Wrigley the night they clinched the pennant. I got a taste when I took my son to the 2015 NLDS clinching game against the Cardinals - and after Schwarbs hit that moonshot on top of the video board, again I thought it was destiny, and the feels I had watching them take the post game team photo, I'll never forget - only to get routed by the hated Mets in the NLCS. In the end, I spent this Game 6 fateful evening with my own dad, who is 75 years old, and who along w/my mom taught me what a Cubs fan is all about. They lived through 1969, and we consoled each other in 84, and so on. But the energy in that beautiful, historic yard that night, and the great fans around us, is something I will never, ever forget, and I'm so thankful to have been there, and to have been along for the incredible ride that being a Cub fan has been. God Bless The Cubs, and all you true BLUE Cubs fans!
As great as winning the World Series was, I have to say that this night was one of the highlights of my life. To win the pennant at Wrigley was something special. It takes nothing away from winning the Series. I ran from my house down to the local tavern a block away and ordered a shot and beer, Hazleton, PA style, in honor of Joe Maddon and the boys. Unforgettable.
i agree with you. in fact in a lot of ways I liked this victory more because it finally exorcised the demons of when the Dodgers came in 2008 and just absolutely murdered the Cubs that postseason. still bitter about that. It also kinda sucked a bit that the Indians and their nice fans still have to suffer...but believe me I will take a Cubs world series under any circumstances lol
All it takes now is for the Cubs to win a WORLD Series at Wrigley. I'm supremely happy that they won the 2016 WS; how much more wonderful it would have been had they won it at Wrigley.
As an Astros fan, this was thrilling to see the Cubs finally win the pennant and then go on to win the World Series. Younger fans today (including many on RUclips) just don't understand the historical significance of winning the pennant. They just call it "second place" if the team doesn't win the ensuing World Series. I keep telling them, it's NOT "second place," it's the National League Championship. Winning the pennant means a LOT. It's a major accomplishment.
i appreciate you posting this! i've watched the games with the radio in synced with the tv almost all playoffs, except this game. it's great to re-watch it. please post game 7! go cubs go!!!
Bro does it matter if you’re a true Cubs fan you shouldn’t care if we lose or win, you just enjoy watching the best team in the best stadium with the greatest fans and regardless.
Cubsfan122112 ah I don’t think 🤔 a True Die Hard Cubs Fan would be made an example of because of their loyalty as a Fan Of The Cubs after all all he did was to share the Joy we surely all felt, except of coarse the Goat 🐐 did not feel and for all these years I thought I would feel Joy Next Year but I did not, it Joy was stolen by The Devil ...but I can’t wait 😊 to return to Wrigley Field as I have something yet to do May God Bless My Cubs Amen 🙏
It was after this game that I broke down and it hit me. There was no doubt in my mind they were winning it all after this. Even down 3-1 to Cleveland I kept saying it ain’t over yet. Loudest I ever sang go cubs go was this night 👏
6:156:166:176:186:196:206:216:226:236:24 The Chicago Cubs are going to the 2016 Motherland's World Series for the first time since 1945 or 71 years against the Cleveland Indians vs Los Angeles Dodgers (Chicago Cubs wins series, 4-2)
NS19K please! I'm just glad he got to say those magical words. Pat has always been professional and low key. Besides someone has to be when all of us were going nuts that night LMBO. Fly the W⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
Maaaaan you’d really prefer the American League winning over the NL in the World Series?? I’m not a cards fan but if anyone is winning the WS I was it to be in the NL central

Still makes me tear up in 2022
This was. Vin Scullys last game as Dodgers broadcaster.
Still crazy how they had a guy on first, foul ball down the left field line and then a grounder to short just like in 2003 but a different result
Best year in my life. Have had the great opportunity to meet Pat. What a class act.
I'm a dyed-in-the wool Yankee fan, and NO game in ANY sport ever gave me the rush I felt when the Cubs clinched the World Series!

4:25 I was at the game, and we all looked around at each other like, uh-oh!
shades of bartman
It’s pat Hughes 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I wish my buddies were here breaks my heart.
Yeah it’s a year old comment but seriously it sucks how many legends of the cubs never got to see this.
Still crying to this day. Well never see a cub team like this again as long as I’m alive. I’m only 26
You may

good job in posting this.
i hope you got express written consent from the Cubs to use Pat and Ron in this video, as stated in the first 17 seconds ;)
Cubsfan122112 I'm pretty sure he did or it would've been deleted by now. Fly the W❤️❤️❤️❤️

Pat is enjoying the royalties as he sips his favorite White Claw.

5:55 Ruiz totally swung at that ball 4.
Yep, should have been a strike out but that became irrelevant one pitch later.
Chapman came in throwing absolutely SMOKE. They had zero chance.
Wish I could have been there. But I bet some of y’all heard me cheering from Topeka Kansas

the cuban Chapman .el misil cubano Chapman. .
The skies were filled with a booming deep voice up high shouting, _"Cubs win! Cubs win!"_
Do you have the radio broadcast of the full game?
I sat in the bleachers 1969
@Newfoundmike You serious? The Confederate flag in the left field bleachers; what was that all about?
Who else was a little disappointed by Pat Hughes call at the end. It was nothing like the 2015 nlds against the Cards.
NS19K please! I'm just glad he got to say those magical words. Pat has always been professional and low key. Besides someone has to be when all of us were going nuts that night LMBO. Fly the W⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️
No.
I was more speechless than excited when it happened so I’m not shocked, also he’s definition of class he’s gonna let the moment speak for itself.
did you guys notice where that foul ball landed?
..... and that Puig's bouncer was to the exact same spot as the ball Gonzales dropped on Oct. 14, 2003 .....
Vin Scullys last game
No it wasn’t. Vin Scully did not broadcast any Dodger postseason games in 2016. The last regular season game in San Francisco was his last game.
@@pastortimhahn4343 that was his last world series though as Dodgers voice.
should of put gibson in to pinch hit for a 6 run home run hahahahaha!!! so we could see that retarted fist punch again
Nice comment jerk. I guess you have never had a family member that had special needs. I have just shows your intelligence.
This was a Nightmare
Go Cardinals
reported for hate speech lol
