I see people talk about how Chapman almost blew the WS for us but in the end, this was one of the best trades in MLB history. We got him to get us to the World Series and win, and at the end of it that’s exactly what he did. He blew the lead because Maddon used him terribly throughout the series and he shouldn’t have even been pitching in the 8th to begin with. Looking back at highlights throughout the second half and literally every other appearance by Chapman in the postseason proves he was near perfect. Possibly the greatest trade in Cubs history even if we didn’t keep him
Because Cubs been LOSING since the 1900s and there has never been more than 1,000 fans show up at their stadium. All those Cubs fans are new or bandwagoners.
I'm a cubs fan, but it's amazing to me how the cubs gave up a lot to pick up a rental, who returned to the team the trades him after less than a season, and yet both teams won.
Agreed. He was definitely a key factor in the series and also during the regular season. As a Cubs fan we gave up a lot for him but would I do it again? Absolutely.
I remember being at this game and the anticipation was building for Chapman to debut days before this game. When the fans saw him go down to the bullpen everyone got on their feet and started cheering. Then the cubs extend their lead to 7 runs and it seemed like they wouldn’t put him in. Joe Maddon said screw it and put him in, and holy crap that stadium was rocking when he jogged to the mound! Moment I’ll never forget!
paul levrone ur right. I was only saying the only Cub to even come that close was Kyle who threw 98-100 consistently. Chapman's throws 100-104 on average.
Hey. I got to see a World Series win and be part of the downtown celebration. Thankful i got to see it and Chapman had alot to do with it. Thanks Chapy.
No point in us crying , there's no point in having that closer if we don't make the playoffs. Thanks for the prospects tho , y'all years of suck and grabbing prospects to give us is appreciated
All the Cubs gave up was one prospect of any real value. And he is still several years away from anyone knowing if he's actually going to be any good, and only plays one position that the Cubs were already backlogged at. Then they got Warren back, and two other crap shoot middling prospects that were never on anybody's radar.
plus we get prospects and chapman can come back , tell us who got the better deal... tryna down play the prospects, fuck outta here with that, those prospects couldve gotten flipped for any other great player but you guys took chapman so...
BENJIS All they were getting for what they gave up was a rental player. Nobody is giving up a legit player with contract control for one prospect that hasn't even made it out of single A ball yet.
Before the boogie man goes to sleep, he checks under his bead for Chapman. Aroldis Chapmen once visited the Virgin Islands….since then, they’re just called The Islands. Chapman’s turds have 24” biceps. When Chapman does push-ups, he doesn’t push his body up, he pushes the earth down.
Because cubs fans are desperate! I personally would love to see the cubs win this year. 108 years is long enough, the team and fans deserve to experience a title! With love from a Yankees fan.
Ironic his debut as a Cub was against the White Sox. He was on the Yankees earlier in the year Chapman was suspended earlier that season he missed a month and his Debut was against the White Sox a month after his suspension was over one of the only few Yankees games I watched that year in 2016.
Im just wondering... Wish someone may answer me this question... At 1:17 and 3:10, Chapman's left leg goes to the right after the pitch. However, sometimes, for example 0:56, the left leg goes to the front. Is there any reason for that? Does it make the ball faster? Why is it different? There must be some difference in the body balance right?? It would be nice if someone can tell me why.
To me he looks like he's about to throw a curve when he throws a fast ball instead.. Or sometimes the other way around .. I think he does that to fool the batter
I used to go to a lot of reds games to watch him pitch. He pitched 104 when I was at a game the crowd was wild. But since he went to the cubs I can't watch him pitch live anymore
Theo Epstein didn’t want to pay him the 80 million DollarsAfter the season So the Yankees did! And Gleybor Torres Is a star for the Yankees! But we have to make the trade so we could win the World Series
@@SneakySnacks thats stupit!!!of course people are going to say they cheated!!!you cant cheat on 100mph fast ball or any pitch whether you know whats coming...you dont know where the ball will end up..it could of ended up over his head or in the dirt.
Even as a Yankees fan, I feel like he should've stayed in Chicago. He would have been better suited to pitch there than NY, especially during his prime years. Not that Chicago isn't a big market, but NY just isn't for everyone.
baseball is about being greedy. That's how you win the Yankees are greedy, the red sox are greedy. My team the dodgers they're not greedy or hungry they have an general manager who played money ball with the rays. And they wonder why they haven't won a title since 88. You have to be greedy and get the top players from your farm system who produce and sign them and add a few vets who can ply not vets who are washed up. Sometimes you get lucky like the royals did. The cubs spent money and won a world series rented Chapman and won but the cubs are not greedy like the Yankees are or the giants or the redsox
it's a little know fact that Chapman can't travel via airplane to games because you aren't allowed to bring canons on board
hahaha
subjectsigma925 lol
subjectsigma925 can't bring cocaine either meaning no Mets players...cause they all white and finneeeee
Lol
LOL
Everything went right this season. Everything. And I'll never ever forget it, and I will always be thankful. Go Cubs.

That was incredible. I've never seen a crowd in their feet the entire bottom of the ninth in a 7 run game before.
Especially at a Cubs gam.
Because Cubs been LOSING since the 1900s and there has never been more than 1,000 fans show up at their stadium. All those Cubs fans are new or bandwagoners.
False, the Cubs have been pulling in huge crowds win or lose since the 90s at least. Crowds are ALWAYS 35,000+.
Out of those 35,000, I wonder how many are actual fans and how many are tourists who are there for the beer and nightlife
Robert Dunn
BRUH
2:14 When you see a 91 MPH in a game with a regular pitcher, it looks fast. But when you see Chapman throw it, it looks SO slow
8:41 I suddenly shifted my focus....lol!!
Catcher ran to put his hand on ice after the game
As a Yankees fan,the Cubs don't win a WS without Chapman. The Cubs had a good team, but Chapman was the x-factor, in game 7 of the 2016 WS.
He was the key to winning game 5 or 6 i don't remember where he pitched 3 innings so yeah they don't win without him.
He was tired by game 7, and gave up the game tying HR. But the rest of your statement is true. Go Cubs Go
I'm a cubs fan, but it's amazing to me how the cubs gave up a lot to pick up a rental, who returned to the team the trades him after less than a season, and yet both teams won.
@@chadanding8692 chapman also pitched a scoreless 9th in game 7, so the whole statement was true.

Chapman is a beast, hails from Holguin in Cuba 🇨🇺.. the Cuban missile

Can't recall the last cubs pitcher with this much velocity! going to be fun to watch him the rest of the year. go cubs!
Kyle Farnsworth back in the day threw 98-100
+Marty McFly not 100-106 tho
paul levrone ur right. I was only saying the only Cub to even come that close was Kyle who threw 98-100 consistently. Chapman's throws 100-104 on average.
Marty McFly yeah I don't even like the cubs .. honestly hate how good they've gotten but can't lie that they have all the talent right now
Can't recall the last PITCHER with this much velocity! On any team!
Hey. I got to see a World Series win and be part of the downtown celebration.
Thankful i got to see it and Chapman had alot to do with it. Thanks Chapy.
Yanks made arguably one of the best trades in recent history
for every 100 mph pitch there is a yankees fan crying
Tbh we don't care lol thanks for gleyber

I used to LIKE Aroldis Chapman, but now I *LOVE* him - he made his 2016 Cubs debut while playing "Wake Up" by Rage Against The Machine!
That was fun to relive (over and over). Thanks, dude!
Go Cubs!
Chapman is that one pitcher that the other team doesn't want to face
I wish you were still on the Cubs
chapman orgullo de Cuba ,Cuba peloteros de altísima calidad
Maikel Borges Hernandez 🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇺
Altíssima querido hermano/ baseball man.
Chapman is the beast 💪
I am not a cubs fan but I love the song they play at the end when the cubs win
Up by 7 n crowd on their feet , i have never seen that before for a closer

How fast does a 103 mph fastball look in person ?
Kerry Wood threw 96-97 mph and I thought that was fast. This guy does 103, Goodness Gracious!
He holds the record 105
Aroldis Chapman makes a 96 mph fastball seem slow.
he hit 100 one time when he turned into a closer, but generally he'd only hit 98 tops.
Jude Law LOL l think you really wrong
Love the slo mo pitch replays❤
The single biggest reason the Cubs won the world series in 2016...he was dominant, absolutely filthy!
if he was on the cubs right now they would have the best team EVER
?
Nvm
Funny how we got him back
So impressive! Unfortunate that the strike zone was so inconsistent
Umpires have their own strikezones lol
Catcher was doing him no favors with that low stance, not very easy to move and frame.
this guy is a showman. :) I love him.
man we should've kept him. so we don't have to live with Kimbrel now
Man was asking for way too much personally, he is an amazing closer, no doubt. But his asking price was insane.
Good year 4 a TIGER. W/S!! Kevin l HENSLEY
This aged poorly
@@jakobwedel3168 I'm glad it does😁
Live bear Cincy was there they day he hit 106.Sounded like a rifle shot .That day he hit 104,104,103,104,103,105,106
Chapman first pitch just lit me up 101. 😀
Best team the cubs will ever have
The Cuban missile 🇨🇺🇨🇺❤️❤️❤️proud of you babyyy!!!
Sad to see him go, but made sense in every way. Yankees needed to rebuild and they got a lot for him.
They got a rental player
It’s just crazy how forgetful it is to realize how good Chapman was with the cubs
I'd love to have him back but he seems happy with the Yankees
Thx for posting. High Speed Pitching. Lol
great job with this posting...thanks!
Why is everyone freaking out like we haven't seen him before? Lol he's on the Cubs now, big whoop..
Stfu lol
Because cubs fans are desperate! I personally would love to see the cubs win this year. 108 years is long enough, the team and fans deserve to experience a title! With love from a Yankees fan.
+efbeenie you're a true baseball fan. much respect
When this man pitches he hits the fast forward button. That's why it's so fast
The ball was going so fast on the last pitch that the ump couldn't even see the ball
Catcher had a hard time.
Because he was throwing pitches high and away when the call was low and in. That's not easy to handle with a 90mph fastball, let alone 100+.
It was Montero lol
Reid Sjaaheim
No shit
When he was young with Reds he would 100-104 pitch after pitch.Shame my Reds couldn't put it together while he was there
good ole rage against the machine in the beginning
very proud of Aroldis Chapman.

역시 지구 최강 마무리 투수구나...
hey, i was there.
Luckyyy
Damn 7 run lead Cubbies put in Chapman😂 not taking any chances
thanks for Gleybor Torres
I would be scared shitless if I was the umpire
VERY COOL...GREAT CALL,NO CANNONS ON BOARD!
I'll take Bruce Sutter back in the day over anybody.his split finger pitch was dominating.
All those fair weather Cubbies coming out of the woods lol
I can't help think that he looks just like Mariano Rivera
As far as the way he wears his uniform and cap, he looks clean cut like Rivera. I don't think Rivera was known for being 100+mph pitch guy tho.
Rivera was a damn good closer though
***** Mariano is great for sure. I love Chapman and hope we keep him, but I think they're different pitchers as far as their stuff.
mo can't pitch 100 mph but he got a devastating cutter that made him the greatest closer of all time.
I wish he was still on the reds

The Yankees are my favorite team and I am so mad that they traded them
we just need a few years, we got some amazing prospects for miller , beltran, and chapman
All good now XD
Gleyber good :)
He's lost some velocity on his fastball
He is crazy
el mejor pitcher
they should play wild thing from major leagues

Isn't Abreu also a Cuban refugee?
Wow. Some coincidence.
