This is exactly why I always watch the game on mute and listen to the radio my whole life. It took me a long time to accept coomer as a pats new partner
Thx ... but you failed to include THE most memorable radio moment in Cubs history ... September 1998 ... "the Brant Brown Clank" ... Cubs winning 7-5 ... 2 out ... bottom of the 9th at Milwaukee ... bases loaded ... Brant Brown dropped a fly ball that permitted all 3 runners to score and win the game for the Brewers ... I still vividly remembers their painful words: Pat Hughes: "there's a fly ball, Brant Brown is there and ... he dropped the ball, he dropped the ball! ... 3 runs are going to score ... In the background, Ronny was repeatedly yelling: "No, No, Nooooo!
One of my all-time fav Cubs announcer is Steve Stone. I learned so much baseball listening to him explain the game and the situation. Then Pat Hughes became an extremely close 2nd for his comments, stories, humor, and love of the game.
I sure miss Ron. Really enjoyed listening to the Cubs games back in 2008. Although I had cable, I would much rather sit outside in my backyard, drink some cold ones, and listen to Ron & Pat broadcast the games on radio. What a magical year that was.
Such a sad day for Cubs fans and baseball fans everywhere. Ron made every game fun to listen to and he will be greatly missed. We will miss you Ron. Ron Santo for the Hall of Fame!!!
R.I.P. Ron Santo. I've listened to Ron my entire life on the radio. it will never be the same. thanks for the upload man. this was definitely classic ron.
Ron has a point, nobody has freaking carrot cake for their birthday not that i would be the one to tell Pat Hughes he can't have carrot but strawberry is better.
I'm with Pat on this one. I like a good carrot cake. Ron was getting OCD on the white cake with chocolate frosting. Ron goes to war because Pat wouldn't agree with him. Pat of course knows Ron is going down the rabbit hole and milks it.
I miss you dear Ronny.I bet you,Ernie,Harry And Jack are rooting for our Cubbies this year. The Cubs are doing amazing in 2016'And we are going all the way this year.Miss all four of you.Loving my Cubs!!! Lets Go Cubs!!!
Thanks for posting, we'll miss you Ronny in Chicago. I used to take road trips and plan them so that I wouldnt miss his voice when the signal went out.
I used to listen to pat and ron for practically every game. so many good memories. I just haven't listened much since ron passed because it's just not the same.
Ronnie its not the same without you! Every time I turn on the good ole WGN I think of you and the great times you gave us cubs fans! We love you Ronnie
Can y’all imagine Ron Santo in the booth when the cubs won the World Series. I mean just listen to him for a regular walk off or brant browns dropped ball. Ronnie would have been going berserk in there. Wish you could have been here Ronnie. That World Series was for you and all the others that couldn’t see it
I can't exactly remember the play, but my favorite santo call of all time was I'm assuming after an error. He screamed "Oh come on!!!" but just the way he said it with the inflection and everything. It immediately made me realize his passion. Nobody loved their team like santo loved the cubs. It's a damn shame those hall of fame voters had their heads stuck up their asses.
once in cincinnati, the inning had gone awry pat :i don't think it's halloween ron: mercury is in rectal-grade pat: how's that ron? ron: mercury is in retro-grade pat: sounded different the first time
Strangely enough, the last Cubs game that I went to was the second-to-last game of the 2003 season...the game they retired #10. I'll always remember that, and there will never be another like the Pat and Ron Show.
I have to say,in all honesty,my love for The Pat & Ron SHow was greater than that for the Cubs. Yes,I follow the Cubbies, but the broadcasts will never be the same
Huge White Sox fan, but I miss Ronnie. He was so passionate, i wish more announcers would be like him. Though i got to admit some of his calls were hilarious.
@hwkfn83 Thanks man. One of my buddies (broadcaster) has had this clip for a few years and we used to listen to it and laugh. I thought that today was a good day to get it up on youtube for everyone to enjoy.
I always prayed for a rain delay when listening to a Cardinal game because I knew there was a 50/50 chance they would air one of many interviews/conversations between Mike (Moonshot) Shannon and Ronnie Santo. Two of the best competitors as players and two of the most knowledgeable , passionate men as broadcasters. But above all if baseball had a lover , that lover was Ronnie. The people that are running baseball must realize that they just lost what made baseball great.
My dad met Ron Santo while he was waiting for a ride near Sears Tower. My dad asked him "Hey Ronnie why are you always busting Pat Hughue's balls?" Ron answered. "Because he wears funny clothes." rofl
Beautiful piece, he definitely will be missed and he will probably finally get into hof just to late for him to enjoy it, he's in gods hall of fame right now
priceless conversation. it is just now hitting me that the commentary on WGN radio will never be the same. I'm not sure if I can tune into WGN radio anymore for Cubs games. The replacement just won't do it.
Ron was great at being real. There's a lot of people who can be real but layers of interviews and corporate bullshit make it so there will never be anyone like Harry or Ron.
I love Ron but he's wrong here bec Pat did commit to a cake. My fav is also Carrot Cake and I prefer chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. When the birthday person indicates a particular cake for their special day, that request should be honored . Everyone should get what they want on their B-day. Within reason, of course.
@Gsand8236 dont get me wrong i think he was the best announcer its that he didnt tell you what was happening he would cheer and stuff thats why he was so good
This is exactly why I always watch the game on mute and listen to the radio my whole life. It took me a long time to accept coomer as a pats new partner
Ronnie, we did it. We finally did it. Wish you could have seen it
I know this comment is 5 years old. But trust me, he did see it! 😇
Thx ... but you failed to include THE most memorable radio moment in Cubs history ...

Santo's hairpiece catching fire after touching the space heater in the Shea broadcast booth is the quintessential Pat and Ron moment.
One of my all-time fav Cubs announcer is Steve Stone. I learned so much baseball listening to him explain the game and the situation. Then Pat Hughes became an extremely close 2nd for his comments, stories, humor, and love of the game.
The birthday cake clip never gets old. Funnier each time.
Three and two Bellhorn...what was that Ron?
Thanks Jarrett. I never heard The Pat And Ron Show, and I appreciate the opportunity. I get it now.
I miss ron so much. He was the voice of all cubs fans. He voiced our pleasure and our pain
Especially "No, no, no!" I was listening, and shouting right along with him.
Being a Cubs fan, he voiced mostly our pain! 😢😂😂
I sure miss Ron. Really enjoyed listening to the Cubs games back in 2008. Although I had cable, I would much rather sit outside in my backyard, drink some cold ones, and listen to Ron & Pat broadcast the games on radio. What a magical year that was.
Seven years later and I feel the same way about Pat and Ron coomer. Tv broadcast just doesn’t do it for me once we got away from Len and bob
Such a sad day for Cubs fans and baseball fans everywhere. Ron made every game fun to listen to and he will be greatly missed.
We will miss you Ron.
Ron Santo for the Hall of Fame!!!
would have never made it through the rough years without the Pat n Ron show.
This made me cry.
R.I.P. Ron Santo. I've listened to Ron my entire life on the radio. it will never be the same. thanks for the upload man. this was definitely classic ron.
it nice to hear these two again, makes me feel like a kid again
"Voice of my summers."
Stole the words from me. These voices give me chills.
This is soo Awesome. These guys were priceless together ❤.
Ron has a point, nobody has freaking carrot cake for their birthday not that i would be the one to tell Pat Hughes he can't have carrot but strawberry is better.
Ron getting irritated with Pat about cake is one of the funniest things I have ever heard.
He can't even commit to a cake!
I'm with Pat on this one. I like a good carrot cake. Ron was getting OCD on the white cake with chocolate frosting. Ron goes to war because Pat wouldn't agree with him. Pat of course knows Ron is going down the rabbit hole and milks it.
Summer will never be quite the same. All those lonely drives with Pat and Ron keeping me company. Sad.
Whenever I need a good laugh I think of Pat and Ron. There'll never be another like them.
We miss you Ron!!!
I miss you dear Ronny.I bet you,Ernie,Harry And Jack are rooting for our Cubbies this year. The Cubs are doing amazing in 2016'And we are going all the way this year.Miss all four of you.Loving my Cubs!!! Lets Go Cubs!!!
They actually went all the way, Barbara. They finally did!
Well Waddya know they actually did.
They took this from over an hour to 6 minutes. Who's they you ask, The Ricketts!!
All things involved with the cubs including the neighbourhood and the corpse of Ernie Banks all belong to Tom Ricketts. You looked at me, your dead
I'm sure Ronnie and Ernie up in heaven now screaming their asses off cheering on the cubs ! GO CUBS GO !!!!
Aw, man. Ronnie, we miss you. Truly blessed to still have Pat Hughes in the booth. Go Cubbies!
listening to the cubs will never be the same...so saddened by ron's passing :-(
We did it pizza man, I know wherever u are u celebrated like crazy.
Thanks! This is just what I needed....
As a life long Cubs fan, it saddens me to know that Ron is no longer with us. Ronnie was Cubs baseball! You will be greatly missed!
RIP Ron. Thanks so much for the upload.
Thanks for posting, we'll miss you Ronny in Chicago. I used to take road trips and plan them so that I wouldnt miss his voice when the signal went out.
God bless Ron Santo.
I used to listen to pat and ron for practically every game. so many good memories. I just haven't listened much since ron passed because it's just not the same.
Miss you Ron.
i miss ron
Thanks for the upload, no matter how bad the Cubs were at times Ronny always seemed to make them worth listening to
I miss him the entire season. Ron Santo and Pat Hughes made me a baseball fan.
Ronnie its not the same without you! Every time I turn on the good ole WGN I think of you and the great times you gave us cubs fans! We love you Ronnie
That is Classic Santo-Hughes. Thank You, Go Cubs.
this year will not be the same without him :(
CRIED THROUGH THE VIDEO THIS IS WHAT I WILL MISS MOST THEN ANYTHING
thanks for uploading this. i already miss his insane rants. :(
Can y’all imagine Ron Santo in the booth when the cubs won the World Series. I mean just listen to him for a regular walk off or brant browns dropped ball. Ronnie would have been going berserk in there. Wish you could have been here Ronnie. That World Series was for you and all the others that couldn’t see it
Damn. Its just not gonna be the same listening the Cubs on the radio anymore
Miss him!!!! they were best announcers!!!! He was too young to leave us!!!! love ya Ron!!!!!
I'm glad Santo made it. I wish he could have been here. From a Cardinals fan.
once in cincinnati, the inning had gone awry
pat :i don't think it's halloween
ron: mercury is in rectal-grade
pat: how's that ron?
ron: mercury is in retro-grade
pat: sounded different the first time
😂😂😂
I needed this today. RIP Ron, you'll be missed. :(
We were able to get your Cubbies a world series Ronnie... If only you could have lived to see it
Strangely enough, the last Cubs game that I went to was the second-to-last game of the 2003 season...the game they retired #10. I'll always remember that, and there will never be another like the Pat and Ron Show.
ditto to hwkfn83, thanks for uploading this...RIP Ronnie
Classic Ron, thanks for the pick-me-up. I'll be missing this
“You can’t even commit to a cake !”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When my grandma was alive she had wgn radio on 24/7 even as she slept.
IlliniSox23 same here
Ronnie did play his final season with the White Sox...
Sure wish Ronnie could be around this season...
oh my god i love ronny and pat
It's great because you knew Ron truly loved the Cubs. He was the Cubs. Maybe they'll win this year for Ron.
Lol "the fan" getting into the booth
Ron fooling around, good man he was
RIP
Happy 72nd Ron!!!! Say hello to my Uncle who was a very huge Cubs fan!!!!
@hwkfn83 Thanks man. One of my buddies (broadcaster) has had this clip for a few years and we used to listen to it and laugh. I thought that today was a good day to get it up on youtube for everyone to enjoy.

when the Cubs win the World Series, it wont be the same without his broadcast
Roscoe Gilliam it sure wasn't
@@johnbrooks7753 no it wasn't but his presence was felt during game 7
we miss you ronnie!!!
I have a lot of favorites. But this is one of my tops.
I miss Ronnie :(
I remember when they were doing a game in Pitt, and they talked about all these people in animal costumes in the hotel.
priceless conversation. it is just now hitting me that the commentary on WGN radio will never be the same. I'm not sure if I can tune into WGN radio anymore for Cubs games. The replacement just won't do it.
What a character, thanks for everything Ron!
You couldn't even commit to a cake. LOL.
Glad he FINALLY got his place in the Hall of Fame, but so sad it came after he died.
These guys made a bad game GOLD!
Lol at Mark Bellhorn striking out. Ron was a great guy.
They're talking about cake!!!Ronnie was the best😅
We will be serving white cake.
Yeah listening to the Cubs isn't gonna be the same!
I realllly wish Ron and Ernie could at least see what the Cubs were about to be :(
@gocubsgo7 he was one of the best announcers in basebll i would listen too him every game because of Ron Santo.
RIP Ronny
God Bless you RON!!! Shame on you Hall of Fame for waiting so long!!!
I would love to hear where he 'sang' (?) "I like it I love it I can't get enough of it'. Wish I could remember when it was.
Thank you Ron....You made everyone laugh and smile......Enjoy an old style with Harry up there
"You can't even commit to a cake"
I like when Ron's hair started on fire. It was great that is happened in NY. He could not stand NY. It was fitting.
@DonPBeast16 Dave Otto will replace him because he's been doing the games with Pat Hughes when Santo wasn't available during this past season.
Ronnie. Just: Ronnie. I don't know what else to say.
Ron was great at being real. There's a lot of people who can be real but layers of interviews and corporate bullshit make it so there will never be anyone like Harry or Ron.
i love the cake conversation. so funny. rip ron.
Carrot cake isn't a legit answer in Ron's book.
God bless Ron!
I like carrot cake too...
OMG. Robert Machado!!! That's back in the day! : )
Ron Santo was one of the worst announcers ever, but because of his true love for the cubs, thats what made him the greatest. RIP
@Gsand8236 dont get me wrong i think he was the best announcer its that he didnt tell you what was happening he would cheer and stuff thats why he was so good
O Ron haha Glad he Finally Got his place in the HOF
