Very inefficient. Much of the hand cutting could have been accomplished on the automated cutting table. The buckets are standard sized, this should not have been difficult….

Who said it was difficult. And besides I believe the company would rather keep their craftsmen working, than laying them off and make more$$ by machine replacement.

Why dont prefabricate the small pieces? Would more effective. Like cutting and chamfering with NC plasma, rolling profiles cold with nc rolllers

The first time I admired the top quality descaled clean sheets of alloy steel. I worked with Cht plates in Canada and the scale on the plates were a pain to work with . We always had to use preheat to descale ahead of the cutting torch. I like their ppe that they are wearing and using three workers to bend the wear bar is very efficient.

excellent process loads of great ideas for jigs and easy repeatable measurements but the guy welding that back seam made quite a mess, melting metal running out and a really terrible spotty seam...All the welders should be better than that by a long shot.
The health and Safety is not great, you can tell its a (probably) Chinese workshop.
I liked the little hex bar straight edge, I'll be making one of those up for myself

Surprised that a big production setup like this uses gas torches for everything, including the CNC cutting, rather than plasma cutters. Seems expensive.

Steel warps when you weld it (because of the localised heat), so by distributing small welds (called "tack welds") first keeps everything aligned when the main welds are laid down.
@@pauldorman Does the amount of heat and welding power have anything to do with a strong weld?
@@far_outlook I'm not a welder, but I imagine it has a lot to do with the metals involved. During welding the filler (MMA rod , TIG or MIG wire) and the substrate being welded must become momentarily molten, so in effect a single weldment becomes one contiguous piece of metal. I believe the degree (depth) to which the substrate becomes molten is called "penetration" and as I understand it high penetration, which is a function of the heat put into the welded area, will generally result in a stronger weld. I imagine the material of the filler rod or wire is specially formulated so that the alloy formed between it and the substrate is at least as strong as the base material. Because metals such as steel can become hard and brittle when heated and cooled suddenly, the filler must have metallurgical properties to make the welded area more ductile. The deeper the weld penetrates into the base material, the smoother the transition between it and the weld, and the stronger the resulting join.
As I said though, not a welder, or a metallurgist.
