So glad you guys are enjoying what guys my age call, "our music". I mean it's been nearly 50 years since they became one of my fave bands of all time! Damn. But I've been blessed to be able to pull this out and listen to CotC all of these years. I always said if Elton John and Pink Floyd had a baby (even though they were contemporaries w/Supertramp) it would be Supertramp. They're serious, but take wild flights of fancy... they're fun, but with great chops. Just a pure joy to listen to Crisis What Crisis, CotC (this album), Breakfast in America, Even in the Quietest Moments ( 😍) Best to you guys, as always!

Their sound production has always been top tier, not just on their albums, but they were the few band who cared enough to do top notch sound production during their concerts. Other bands that came to mind that was top notch was Yes and The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Robert Plant: they are cared about their music, and were fussy with their sound production.

However, they've been getting a lot of love from you reactors and justifiably so! This was my favorite LP from them, but BIA has soooo many great tracks as well. I can only speak from my experience with growing up as a teenage boy in the 70s here in the Midwest , I gotta tell you most teenage boys snickered at Supertramp ! They were not hard rock like Zeppelin , Pink Floyd , Rush , I loved them , Every time I had Supertramp tickets I had a hard time finding someone to go with me !? But now as adults all my buddies from back then love Supertramp now ! I honestly believe maturity played a big part in that !? Not only did I love their sound because my mother played the piano and my father played the sax , But as a teenager there lyrics spoke to me like you wouldn't believe ! I have Supertramp tattoos , Every time Roger Hodgson comes to Saint Louis I'm there front and center !

One of their absolute best: as ever, the arrangement and production is impeccable, but this stands out for me because the Rick-Roger synergy is spot-on (where it's sometimes unequal), and I always like it when Roger plays electric, which he too seldom does. The following track Bloody Well Right is sort of a companion piece, and really needs to be listened to in tandem with.

Here's the thing about Supertamp, and about their 3rd album, Crime of the Century.
You guys giving your reaction to their music, it's the same as mine when I first heard them back in 1973. They are DOPE.
    Some history:
Back then there were high end stereo/audio stores. If you were a serious audiophile, these places were the only place you shopped for audio equipment. Each place had sound proof listening rooms where the store rep could activate exactly the turn table you wanted to hear, the speakers, amps, tuners, EQ's, ....everything by hitting switches. You could being in your own albums to play to hear the sound system you wanted to buy. If you didn't bring your own albums in, EVERY STORE had a selection of the best produced most technically perfect albums you could borrow in order to hear the equipment you were thinking of buying at its finest sound. These albums were the finest examples of sound perfection.
The albums these stores always had in hand:
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
    Steely Dan - Aja
Supertramp - Crime of the Century

I'm sure glad you fellas enjoy this band, it's one of my favorites too. I love how uniquely different Rodger Hodgson's vocals are, and I'm always impressed with the bands whole approach to the type of instrumentation they use to the topics they choose to speak about. Always leaves you questioning things and simultaneously the superb instrumentation is keeping your brain feed with notes of pure ear candy🍬 Either way, you're always being engaged mentally, just beautiful stuff, bro.🎶🤗 It is said, that the strumming guitar section in the intro to this song "School" was a foreshadowing of a similar approach used on Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in The Wall (Part 2)" which is a centerpiece of the band's 1979 concept album "The Wall" 🤔
Here's another song by Supertramp, if interested. "Supertramp - Dreamer (Live in Paris 1979)" This song "Dreamer" is another hit single from their album "Crime of The Century" album. Please do the live version. Wonderful reaction guy's as always

I love it that y'all love it. And not just Supertramp's music, but others that you react to also. It's the genuine appreciation you guys feel for some of this classic music. Back in the 70s I got introduced to Supertramp music by this hot new girl that came to our high school. She told me they were her favorite band and I lied and told her they were mine too 😆 The only song I knew was Dreamer ,which I did like a little bit. I got a date with her so I bought Crime of the Century and Breakfast In America, which had just came out, on 8track to try to impress her. And it worked 😉 Been a huge fan of Supertramp ever since.

In 1974 I was shopping at Frog Island Records in Overland Park, Kansas when they started blasting this song. I still vividly remember how this song sounded completely different from anything I had heard before. Needless to say I couldn’t concentrate on anything else and immediately bought the album!

Until the reaction channels, I hadn't listened to Supertramp for a many years, but it's just like coming home, they're so good, good memories of the first discovery of them. Glad you guys really appreciate their genius.
