I recommend the promark 747 b-s for heavy drumming most. But they were better b4 daddario took over promark. Idk what I'll do after my last og sets break. I also miss the big sumo wrestler printed on em.
Ian, thank you so much for posting this!! I love the backstories behind the songs...I'm a fan of the song The Shield, and it's wild to hear how the two songs are interconnected. I never would've caught that! Have a great evening!!

Thank you Mr. Paice for your kindness, you are really a living legend that I have been since the '70s and taking the time to collaborate with young drummers such as Sina and Yoyoka leaves me speechless, a big thank you Mr Paice for the beautiful pieces of music that you have composed.
I was 11 yrs old when I bought my first Deep Purple album from Brashs store Melbourne Australia in early 1973. It changed my life and idea with such brilliance, It was 'Made in Japan,' the double album, Still have today. It is of the days of change and the stuff of dreams. Deep Purple shaped my early music career. Friend, Virgil D, also used your signature patterns in practice.
Well now, there's a shared memory. I'm also in Melbourne and remember well the old Brashs and Allens stores. The two leading record shops in the city. My early records came largely from there too and included Machine head, Fireball, DP in rock... They were my favorite band in my teen years and yes, I also still have those albums
This is going to be EPIC EPIC EPIC. Thank you so very much Ian for putting this together. I can't wait to hear and see this. The Made in Japan version is one of my all time favorite drumtracks 💜💜💜.
Thank you for all the music, Ian! I had the pleasure of seeing you playing live many times here in Brazil and can't wait to see this video. Greetings from South America!!
Hi from Canada Ian. Love this, its awesome to learn how you come up with the music that has given us all so much joy over these years. Those girls sure can play!
Ritchie Blackmore said in various interviews that he came up with the beat for Space Truckin' from the 1960s TV (and cartoon) show theme, "Batman" (ruclips.net/video/kK4H-LkrQjQ/видео.html). Ritchie usually didn't seek opinions, but he shyly asked Ian Gillan if it didn't sound hokey. Gillan said he liked it. The space race was all over the headlines in that era, with moon landings a regular theme. In America, an expression developed called "Keep on Truckin' " that is still used a bit today. So, Gillan came up with the title, "Space Truckin '." The "Machine Head" album version is great, but the live version Purple did on "Made In Japan" is epic. I used to party with Gillan; only met Paice a couple times. What a great guy, and in my view, one of the best drummers of all-time.
Bummer my payment went through but no video...Oh well. I saw Deep Purple in 1972 and to this day Mr Paice is my fav drummer and DP my fav group. I have been watching Sina for a couple of years now and Yoyoka since she was 7. I hope nobody else had a problem like I did ordering it. Congrats to Sina and Yoyoka! Drum on!!
@@humandesignsolutions Oh, thanks! I wasn't going to say anything but then I figured maybe somebody else had that problem also. I was just thinking when I saw Deep Purple in 1972 that the top tickets sold for $6 and with all the joy Mr. Paice has given me over the years with his drumming and his RUclips channel I figured I just suffer until the Yoyoka and Sina video comes out later. Thanks for the update and I much appreciate it.
Ian, I’ve just watched the whole thing. That was a really really great project and I enjoyed very much! And your long Japanese at the end was just perfect. I mean it. Thank you from Tokyo!

The 1st time I saw you guys was at the Flint Atwood stadium in 1985 ..and it is on RUclips thankfully..Blackfoot was the warm up band...

hi mr paice.you are and were an idol of my youth. i've also been a fan of sina for a long time. just great that it comes to a collaboration.greetings from germany..
One thing that amazes me in the drums for that track is what you do at the chorus. When I first listened to Machine Head, at 15, I was idling by at my bedroom. Then came the chorus, repeating "Come on! Come on! Come on!". The drums break in a way that I was momentarily fooled that the album had a scratch. I would really love to hear from you about how you approached this. Maybe for a future Q&A!
Just stumbled across this and wow, Ian my Man, Thanks for everything mate...Made In Japan will NEVER be topped as a live album EVER!!!!! Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Cumon!!!!
Deep Purple performed a version of Space Trucking as an encore / final number during the Fireball tour, a few months prior to the release of Machine Head. This concert in Los Angeles was supported by Buddy Miles and Uriah Heep.
This was the song I bought "Machine Head" for, the second album I bought with my own money as a 12 year old back in '72, such a juxtaposition seeing you quietly describing the process of your ferocious drumming style, always loved it, thanks...
Great Paice , i started to give the first drum beat learning from grooves and fills , thak you for the theaching and inspiration you have me , thank you great drummer.
thanks Mr. Paice good story on how you guys did space trucking great song on a great album . Yes i still have my 2nd. album i ever bought Machine Head .

Hi Ian, thank you for helping to keep rock n roll going and for inspiring these two awesome young drummers. I've been following both of them for a long time and they just keep getting better. I hope they go on to create fantastic original content like you do. PS, Yoyo's birthday version of Mistreated sent a chill down my spine. Would love for both girls to have a go at "You Fool No One" or "Pictures of Home".
