It's really nice, but i still prefer Retro-bit's wireless 2.4g 6-button clone controller. The Face buttons & D-pad just feel crisper and snappier if that makes sense.
If you plugged in the Bluetooth controller, does that reduce the latency? Would it play with the same latency as the 2.4g at that point? Or does it not matter when plugged in?

@@PixelCherryNinjano problem 😁 I've just purchased one of these myself after watching your video It's going to be delivered tomorrow I'm looking forward to playing some classic arcade games and Sega games with this controller :)
There are different profiles you can switch to even though they’re not mentioned anywhere in the manual or FAQ for some reason. You also can switch the dpad to be recognized as the analogue stick and I think that might be where your Pocket issues are coming from.
2 ideas to get it to work on the pocket: look up the way to change the input modes for m30. It may need to be changed to xinput. Also try flashing the 2.4g m30 dock firmware for the regular m30 controller that’s specific to work with the dock.
Default is the d-pad sends right analog. The manual should mention how to change the d-pad mode. Switching between x-input, switch, and gen mini is NOT documented. You hold home + dpad direction for several seconds: up, down, or left depending on mode. Only x-input lets you map home and select separetly. This is for dongle only, wired mode is always x-input. You should also check for firmware update. This might change the default mode too, which is why your ability to map select/home separetly vanished on the older m30.

It works as an 8 button controller in the Saturn core? I think the old m30 only worked as a 6 buttun with the shoulder buttons not being separate. Thanks
Noice. Can't wait for the Neo Geo one that has been announced. Wondering if the stick-addon for the controller from the Neo Geo Mini fits. The effect with the stuck down key I know from my Logitech keyboard. It does that when the connection goes bonkers. It would repeat the last key I pressed until it reconnects or I powercycle it.
I'm surprised this worked as a Saturn controller. Previous M30s had L&R shoulder buttons that weren't independent buttons (they were duplicates of the Mega Drive C & Z buttons). On an actual Saturn this means no access to real L & R shoulder buttons and therefore cannot be used on a Saturn for games that require them.
Maybe that is why they stopped selling the Genesis compatible model, so they could release this with dedicated buttons. Kinda sucks cause I can’t find the Genesis version or the Genesis dongle anywhere.
A few people have said that, but I'm sure my version of the micro USB M30, the shoulder buttons worked. I remember using them in games like duke Nukem, where I could strafe. Edit I'll have to double check
@etgripper Yeah my two MD 2.4G M30s were early models (literally from Analogue Mega SG launch period), and the RF dongles only come with the controllers. I understand 8bitdo's own site get some stock in of the MD-specific variants but batches seem to be small. Their NES-specific and SNES-specific RF controllers seem less distributed too. Smaller demographic to cater to these days I guess.
@PixelCherryNinja Yeah the OG MD-compatible M30s L&R buttons did work - it's just that they were double-mapped to existing face buttons (the C and Z i think). With real independent L&Rs (as this new one seems to have) the Saturn colour scheme seems more appropriate.
there is a mode change on the 2.4ghz controller, documented virtually nowhere but holding the 8bitdo heart "home" button 5 seconds while holding up ( xinput) down ( Dinput) or left ( switch) changes the mode this does not seem to work in wired mode tho where it's only xinput , only with the dongle
I got the black version for use on my KinHank Emuelec super console X3, and it has not been a very successful endeavor. I have an 8bitdo ultimate C wired controller that works perfectly, but I simply can’t get this controller to work wirelessly with this system, every time I try to set up the controller for wireless it won’t register the right D directional button and I can’t continue after that. I can only get it generally working wired, but even then it’s hit or miss. Very frustrating.

Isn’t it exactly the same as the old black M30 just in different colours? I think they released it to compete with Retrobit’s white Saturn pad.. but I prefer Retrobit’s pad because it’s officially licensed from Sega and exact replica of the original using same mould and materials.
