I added a group of Bolivians to my Amazon tank this weekend. I have one old lady Bolivian left over from a group who had mostly lost her colour, I thought through old age. Within an hour of adding the new ones in she's coloured up brighter than I've ever seen her! Lovely little fish
Hello sir I'm getting 2 pairs of them Can I keep them with leaf litter tank and lots of driftwood to hide, high current flow. Tanning water. And will they live bristlenose pleco angles tetras and Cory's
Love this vids! I think it would be awesome if you did a video telling us how you got involved in this hobby/business. Always nice to hear how people find their niche. Keep up the good work!
Love rams! I had a beloved Electric Blue Balloon Ram and had it for more than a year but suddenly had hole in the head disease. Broke my heart when it passed away. It had a alot of character and responded to my taps that i learned from MD.
great to see you back, Matt, and congrats on your new baby. I am sure you're relieved, but for those of us desperate to trim your beard, we're just as happy as you!
Matt, I'm coming over from MD's channel, and I'm so glad you're a youtuber now! Really good video - I like your content/information, your presentation style, and of course the fish! As someone who sits on their ass all day watching youtube videos, could I offer some notes? Upgrading your microphone and sound quality will go a long way. I like your graphics, text, and b-roll, so you can definitely up those as well. It feels like some type of elevator (sry, "lift") music would do well. Can't wait to see what else you upload - Cheers!
Thanks to MD fish for introducing your channel which I prefer as it’s more to do with fish than flower arranging in a glass box.looking forward to some more of your vids….a big thanks 👍
Ok, Matt. You wore an @MDfishtanks shirt, and I think it’s only fair that MD wears one for Maidenhead Aquatics. Make it happen! Great to have you back, even when you’re exhausted
Thank you for confirming that I can keep my German blues at 78°F!!! I’ve been nervous after reading so many places saying it needs to be 80 at a minimum. Others have pointed out that after so much time being bred in captivity that they should be fine in a slightly lower temp.
Great content. You should do companion videos to MD’s videos where you go into details on the fish he chooses. That is an area of his content that is a bit lacking and you have a real gift for explaining.
Rams are my very favorite, but I had no luck with them. I do have beautiful bolivians that are doing great though. Thank you for your awesome videos, and keep em coming please! Love to you all! ❤
Hi Matt!! Happy to see you back doing videos and keep holding up 💪🏼🙌🏼 It’s already great that you’re back and filming again so soon. Would love to see you do a video on all kinds of rasboras. Chili, Axelrodi, and more. And perhaps a video of shrimp? Even if it’s called fish files. I’ve been struggling with my shrimp tank (every time I het new shrimp, they settle in for a month and typically breed. Then after the first month I usually start getting a death per week…)
Thank you so much ❤️ With your shrimp they may not be getting the elements they need. Check your water chemistry and compare online to what the species you're keeping requires. It maybe a food issue where they aren't getting enough of the food they need, with this just get a specific shrimp food from a reputable company. Or lastly it maybe a slow poisoning issue where a heavy metal or something coming from your water is slowly poisoning them. With this have a look at Arcadia poly filter as you can run it in your filter and it will change colour depending on which pollutant is present.
Really like your bloke down the fish shop style... Very endearing... Sleep deprivation being kept at bay it seems 😂.. Love the fish files... Perhaps perhaps a good in depth product video on what you get with and may like to add to (in terms of gear) with the Aqua marin systemised tank/cabinet sit ups....
Thanks Matt while I do enjoy my Rams these guys are so fragile I have my Rams in a 10 gallon with Penguin Tetras and l Lemon tetras. The Rams are golden and German Blue. My most recent order was the German Blue Rams but I think I got the Bolivian Rams. I wasn't to mate them up but before you know it there's another deceased fish 🥹what to do .
Matt, I love these fish file videos! It is awesome watching you get better and better at making them. It makes me excited to keep fish! Keep up the great work!
Nice to see you back Matt, and great to hear your little boy is doing good. I have a breeding pair of electric blue rams, and a pair of german blue rams( that dont seem to be interested in each other). Your video has confirmed im doing thing right. Hopefully i get some babies soon. Keep up the good work. Keeps safe 🐠
Thanks for your gr8 content Matt, and keeping it real!! 😊 please could you do one on Bolivian rams. Such an underated fish in my opinion. Yes not as vibrant as their eastern cousins, and look pretty drab at the fish shop. Once aclimated to your tank though they are awesome. Theyre less demanding than GBR and grow bigger. Ps: belated congrats on ur new addition to the family. 🎉
Thanks Matt. Have an Amazon themed aquarium I am setting up and was considering rams. It's 39 gallons, so I'll get a pair. You're info was helpful and timely. Remember the days of little sleep, but those little ones are such a blessing. Congrats to you and your wife.
Matt, the information is generally quite good. I have to add something which is fairly minor but may be of interest. Rams are not blackwater species, they are found in shallow clear water streams in the Venezuelan llanos lined with palms. There might be some colour to the water, and the accumulated palm frond litter is colored a shade of orange or ochre. The air temperature in the dry season reaches over 32˚C so the water temperature is also very high. I originally kept mine with my apistos at pH 5.5 and 25˚C but they didn't thrive until I moved them into a tank of their own.
You remember that I told you about my gbr's that were breeding? Well after the first spawn they never spawned again and while I was on vacation my male died. Now I have to wait another month on a new gbr fish-delivery in my LFS. And also have to deal with the age gap between the new male and the much older female.
Heard you mention buenos aires tetras a while back. Would be cool to hear about them and other tetras. Just got some in the tank and they are so active.
Absolutely love Bolivian rams, for me they were my go to ram species. biggest regret was rehoming mine. I'll have to get some more. Great fish file, enjoyed this one. Encouraged me to keep rams again👍
Hi Matt. Great video. Love your bloopers❤️😂🤣. I have never kept rams, but they sure are a nice looking fish. By the way, I’m glad baby boy is doing well...and (random comment) your beard looks nice!
Great video Matt and great to see you back. Being a dad you’re sleep deprivation bought back a lot of memories of my boy as a newborn. Amazing how we can still function on bugger all sleep. Keep up the great work 👍
Loved the video as always, would love to see a Fish Files video about Apistogrammas, I am particularly interested in the cacatuoides triple red variant but would love to see a video on them, different color variants, lots of visuals and care tips
Hi Matt... Greetings from New York! So glad to see you have your own channel. Always enjoy the banter between you and MD. Your videos look great! Thanks for the Ram info.

Welcome back. Very nice presentation on Rams. Very informative and entertaining. I have not had good luck so far with German Blue Rams. I read alot about poor genetics due to poor breeding to sell fast. Hoping to have better luck in the future.
Thank you, what you need to remember is there will be hundreds of companies/people breeding rams and some will be stronger and more looked after than others. It's just finding that decent supplier.
@@FishShopMatt I just managed to get 6 from my local Maidenhead Aquatics here in Leicester. So hard to get a hold of! Keeping them with my Electric Blue Acara's thanks to you and MD Fish tanks lol 😅

Yeah a few people have asked for this so definitely will be one for the future.
Matt, we love your videos. How about a bio video? Tell us how you got into fishkeeping, what drew you to the store, how you and MD got together.
Thank you, yes definitely one for the future.
Sorry, unhinged matt is the best kind of matt.

Very informative, and it was cool to see the salt water tank and watch your puffer. I'd love to see more of the tank
Thank you! It's actually a completely freshwater aquarium with our puffer and rays. Will cover it in a future video.
