    Florida wore down the nation's top-ranked team en route to an 87-78 victory at the Carrier Dome. The fifth-seeded Gators (27-7) rallied from a six-point deficit and held Duke scoreless for the final four minutes of the game. Shane Battier collected 20 points and nine rebounds while Chris Carrawell added 16 of his own to take Florida one step closer to their matchup with Michigan State for the title.

      Yeah, all credit to Florida here --that second team could've gone to the Round of 32 or Sweet 16. My Devils rebounded the next year. I was shocked at the pace of this game. You don't see this type of racehorse game in a regional final anymore.

    I cried when Coach K pulled Chris Carawell, he tried for four years never got a Championship, great player at Duke. That moment, I knew Coach K was gonna be great to see a grown man cry like that.

    Duke had some issues closing games out during this time period. Blown out down the stretch by Eastern Michigan and Providence in '96 and '97, blew a 17-point lead with 8 minutes left against Kentucky in '98, gave up a 13-0 game-ending run here, blew a 14-point lead with 8 minutes left against Indiana in '02, gave up a 12-0 game-ending run to UConn in 2004, a game-ending 11-2 run to LSU in 2006, etc.

      @walterlv01 Год назад

      @@jonisafreak3 That wasn't a blown lead at the end of the game; UConn led that game in '99 through most of the second half. Duke's execution down the stretch was pretty bad in that game though, putting the game in Langdon's hands when they had so many better options.

      Well, lm a Duke fan. It stands to reason to reason that l might feel that way. .....o_0
      By everyone, l meant sports announcers who cited UF's superior depth and size.

      Domini478 It's not an excuse. I'm sure I was upset when it happened in 2000. I can assure you, I am not upset now. Reading comprehension is fundamental. My issue isn't with your assertion that Duke should have won, It is with the original comment that this was one of the great upsets of the decade. It wasn't. If anything, this team overachieved. A great upset means that either the winning team was vastly inferior, or the losing team was vastly superior. Neither was true in this case. That has nothing to do with whether or not they should have won. Furthermore, I wasn't even talking to you. Once the matchups were set most announcers picked UF for the reasons I stated before. If I make a claim, I am going to provide supporting evidence.......or at the very least understand the context of a conversation that has nothing to do with you.
