Her performances are melodramatic but she was capable of great subtlety in her roles too. Interesting that people still watch her and are fascinated by her Why? because she is truly cinematic for a woman who stood at 5 foot 3 inches the camera loved her. Bette Davis said of her ' christ that dame's got a face'.
Joan Crawford's performance in "Possessed"...wow. You just get so deeply immersed in her performance. For me I felt what she felt, she was that great of an Actress. I actually found out today that she had a Pisces Moon (and I am a Pisces Moon too). I can't wait to see your other Videos of her! :) Love Light x Peace & Beautiful Awesome Blessings Peter! xxx
So glad I found this channel. Always been so fascinated with old Hollywood to the point I soak up everything like a sponge. Nice to FINALLY find others who like it as well.
@@PeterFitzgerald , Joan Crawford was an amazing screen presence in all she did , except that most of her movies were high camp ( the women was not a Joan Crawford movie , it was a Norma Shearer/ Clare Boothe Luce masterpiece ) ! the reason that ' ' The Damned Don't Cry ' is so incredible , is that as outrageous as it is , it's real and human ! Flamingo Road and several others are also GREAT !
Not sure if I can trust the content with Christina Crawford leading the comments but I did want to say I really liked Joan Crawford in Flamingo Road, not sure if anyone ever made Miss O'Brien
Her daughter is far from the “participant” in anything for Joan Crawford....She was a fighter...I admire her greatly...No one person is painted with one brush..or one color...She was a masterpiece...
@@lancedukel3436 Yes. Her book was denied by Joan's other two daughters. Joan's childhood made her a tough mother and she made no secret of it. The film of Christina's book was a farce. Bogart could not stand Crawford as a person but admired as an actress and there's a body of work for us all to admire.
Seeing more of Joan Crawford is worth having to sit through Christina's condescending pompous opinions of things foreign to her (like being a successful star who made it on her own)

I wish that Joanna Crawford were in comedy movies, because she had great comedic timing. Also, it would be nice for her to have a role as an output for her rages to lighten her up, as the toxicity of Hollywood and the pressures of being a star blur the lines of reality and fiction. By being in comedy, maybe she'd find some sort way to express her frustrations in a healthy manner. Instead of "Tina!...Bring me the axe!"
Watch her as Crystal in "The Women." She should've done more movies like this one. I would have liked to see her work with Ernst Lubitsch or Mitch Leisen.
Yeah.. Toxic Tina was soooooo jealous of her mother and would spend 40 plus years slagging her mother and ruining her legacy with her Greatest Hits Tour.
Flamingo Road gets a brief mention here, not a "stature" film by any means, but for me a very enjoyable one. Sydney Greenstreet is so nasty in this one. I love the scene where he's sitting on the porch, and after a brief conversation, Joan slaps his face. He should've known better than to mess with her!
But if Joan Crawford was such a bad mother, what is Christina doing there telling her mother's wonderful career? She should be traumatized. JOAN CRAWFORD QUEEN OF HOLLYWOOD!
As you say, Christina should have stayed home feeling traumatized instead of appearing in this documentary commenting on her mother's stellar career at Warner Brothers.
LOL...do you people think all of it was a lie? That Joan was some innocent victim? Yeah, you can be a complete asshole and still be really talented. We have examples of that with modern actors as well. Stop trying to white-wash her past.
Favorite daughter? It could not have been Christina then, right? If it was, I would not have blamed her. Hey, when Joan accepted Anne Bancroft's Oscar, she did not give it to her for over a year.
I make the grandchildren cut my lawn, with scissors----teach 'em some endurance, hard work, and not be bratty little jerks, at Grandma's house.... I absolutely love the gritty determination, of the great Joan Crawford...!!! What a Woman...😉

Whatever her demons; I admire how hard she worked and didn't rely on anyone nor could she; the last 'movie star'.
She probably had manic depression and had huge bouts of energy. She most definitely was narcissist!
Her demons? That’s pretty much all she had.

That's "Mr. Joan Queen" to you! LOL It's all good. We all have our areas of expertise.
' THE DAMNED DON'T CRY ' IS HER BEST MOVIE IN HER ENTIRE CAREER !
I know a few people who might agree with you -- if not for Mildred Pierce, The Women, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane... too many to list.

Much love 💕 and admiration for Joan Crawford except Christina.

There's nothing dishonest in saying that your adoptive mother was a great actress and a terrible mother. You can be both, and Joan proved it.
